- 304lynetteb00Beautiful reindeerReindeer feeding was lovely. We went at 1pm and the combination of the beautiful light in the sky and gorgeous scenery was very special. The experience feesing the reindeer was very enjoyable. Would love to have heard more about early Sami life and culture. Food wasn't warm enough but given the temperature that was understandable. The staff organising the buses are the reason for only 3 stars.
- 962emmyr00Fully recommend thisWas an amazing experience, I didn’t know anything about Sami , I would recommend 100 percent to do this activity, if you are afraid cuz you think they are cruel to the animals, we help them a lot to pay for their food and to keep the Sami family still going strong …
- Derik M00Reindeer experienceFive out of five the guides were very nice and accommodating to our family, which strongly recommend us to anybody Even get a history lesson
- Shivabalan K00Nice trip to see reindeers and learn Sami CultureWonderful experience to see the reindeers and learn the Sami Culture. The reindeers were many and I got to take nice pics and videos with them. The food was good too and learning the culture was lovely in the way the Sami move around in their daily lives
- vishvachi00Amazingly beautiful! The reindeer experience was just out of this world. Fed beautiful reindeers and heard amazing stories about Sami culture!
- H4952DQkatiek00AmazingPlenty of time to interact with tons of sweet reindeer. Gorgeous views, great food and drinks, awesome to learn Sami culture!
- 30AdamS00Great intro to Sami culture and got to see northern lightsThe two young Sami girls were delightful and we enjoyed hearing their stories. During the talk one of the guides, who had kindly been keeping watch outside, alerted everyone to the presence of northern lights and we raced outside the hut to see the beautiful Aurora borealis before our own eyes. Overall the experience was slightly disorganised, the group size was much larger than expected (50-60 people), we could have done without the sledding to be honest - although it may be a better experience during the day. It’s just in an open field. Some of the staff seemed like they were new, particularly the one who spilt a hot drink on me as the tabletops aren’t even, The stew was nice and it was awesome fun feeding the reindeer, although you really need watch out for those antlers. Is a visit to the Sami reindeer worth it? Definitely. There’s just some room for improvement.
- smiler14500A perfect evening!WOW! What a fantastic night, picked up on time, greeted by some of the lovely Sami people. The Northern lights were out in full force for about 3 hours. The sledging was good fun, fed the reindeer then a delicious 3 course meal. Tasty hot chocolate and cookies to warm you up then stories and singing from the Sami people. Dropped back on time. A brilliant evening. 😊Would definitely recommend.
- kerrylC1543UA00Special experienceI absolutely loved this!! Was the highlight of my trip. The reindeers are adorable and very keen to be fed! I really enjoyed hearing about the Sami culture and having a delicious lunch.
- Danielle H00Fab tour! This was a fantastic trip! Even though we didn’t get to go on a sleigh with the reindeers because of safety with lack of snow, the trip is still so amazing. Feeding wild herd of reindeers, all the stories and facts you learn, the meal and conversation. Really fantastic experience! Highly recommend!
- narcisa m00Excellent activity!Excellent activity, we have the chance to see the animals in their own habitat and feed them. The rein deers were very friendly and it was a unique experience. The Sami people gave us an interesting presentation of their habits and cooked a delicious rein stew and served hot drinks.I can warmly recommend this activity.
- Caron F00Brilliant night! We headed out by bus which took about half an hour. We were welcomed by a lovely Sami lady & had a short introduction. We then had loads of time with the reindeers feeding them & mingling. Unfortunately not enough snow to sleigh ride but it didn’t matter. You can warm up inside in one of the huts with lovely open fires & had plenty of hot drinks & cookies. Then we actually got to see the northern lights which was amazing!! A nice meal is then served in the cosy huts then some traditional folklore around the fire to end a once in a lifetime experience. Fab we loved it.
- StephenAP99900Reindeer stew so tastyJust fantastic from the time we were picked up to the end. 25 min drive to The reindeer Park amd we all had a bucket to feed them, the sami talk was great, the reindeer stew tasty and the coffee and snack great 3 course dinner was excellent for all, even saw the lights.
- KarenGiacaman00Fun and interesting morning!Love it! It was super fun to be with the reindeers and learn about the Sami culture. We really enjoyed our day, the food and the warm experience. The guides and the sami people where super friendly and attentive to our needs. I would recommend this for sure!
- Michael C00Great experience but freezing coldWe had a really great experience with the Sami and their reindeer. It was bitterly cold and a blizzard was blowing but it was still a wonderful trip/

Tromsø was experiencing uncharacteristically wet and windy weather the day of our tour, so we knew ahead of time that there would be no reindeer sleigh ride. There was no snow, only wet ground. The wind was so strong on the plateau where the Sami camp is located and it was very difficult to walk. Even the reindeer hunkered down away from where we were supposed to interact with them, sheltering from the wind under trees. Eventually they were coaxed to come to where we could feed them, and that was entertaining. You learned quickly to stay clear of their antlers. Once the feeding was ended we went into a big hut, a lavvu, for reindeer stew (or a vegetarian option), hot drinks, and cookies. The vegetarian stew was very tasty. After our lunch one of the Sami tribe members gave an excellent presentation on the Sami lifestyle, culture, and their challenges within Norwegian society.
When we first arrived we felt the tour should have been canceled because of the wind. We still fell that way but we did appreciate the insight into the Sami people.

Dear guest,
Thank you for your insightful review!
These are indeed very unusual weather conditions for Tromsø in February, and in such circumstances we offer all of our guests a chance to cancel the tour at any time for a full refund.
We still hope that you spent a great time with us, and it's a pleasure to hear that you enjoyed the Sami storytelling part of the tour!

Dec 2019 • Family
We visited the camp last December (2019) and it was truly an experience to remember. The bus drive from Trømso, even though it’s a bit long, it’s very comfortable and warm. It was an okay distance for my kids (3 and 7 years old).
Arriving there, we were welcomed by the Sami people, everyone was very friendly and nice. We heard stories, sang, fed the reindeers, learned how to throw a lasso, ate a delicious reindeer soup, cookies and hot cocoa. It was a very pleasant day.
Of course, sledding was the high point of the visit. It’s slow and the kids were happy about that. We did the short ride and was quite enough for us, because it was freezing cold that day (feeling like -15C).
The one thing that could be improved is the bathroom. I understand that it’s the middle of nowhere but taking a 3 year old girl to pee there was a challenge... specially by the end of the tour, the bathroom was really very disgusting. That’s why I docked a star there, because the place was completely neglected. If it had been cleaned a bit during the day, I imagine it wouldn’t be so horrible.
Other than that, it was a blast. We will never forget it!

We were a little worried on booking this trip and seeing how popular it was that it would be too touristy.
These thoughts were quickly put to rest, with the warm welcome onto the buses and at the Sami village. The site is beautiful and large enough, so that you can spend some quality time, almost as if by yourself, with the wonderful reindeer, whilst also experiencing some of the Sami culture. The cabins with roaring fires and warming food and drink, just adds to the experience.
We would definitely recommend a visit, even if your visit to Tromso was meant to take you more off the beaten track. It is wonderfully run by friendly and professional people that have the best interests of the Sami community and the animals themselves at heart.

A truly memorable experience. The Tromso Safari staff, drivers and Sami people were very friendly and knowledgable. They gave a great insight into the history of the Sami lifestyle and also the herd of reindeer that are integral to their way of life.

This was so much fun. We were able to feed the reindeer by walking into the herd with a bucket of feed and you could refill the food as many times as you want. We did the full experience which included the sleigh ride which lasted about 20 minutes. Then the wonderful staff served us traditional reindeer stew cooked over a fire and hot chocolate and cookies. We then had 2 Sami women tell us about their culture and share some of their traditions with us as we sat around a warm fire in a traditional Sami tent. This was well worth it

Thank you so much for your kind words about our camp.
We are very happy to have had you as our guest, it was a pleasure for us. We always strive to make sure that each guest is warmly welcomed.
We truly care about our reindeers - the Sami families have been working and living together with them for decades. So it is not just a job for us, it is a way of living; culture and heritage. We try our best to protect it, and at the same time introduce it to people from different parts of the world.
Thank you again for visiting us, and we hope to see you again. Our reindeers cannot wait to meet you again too!

What a wonderful experience! I learned so much about the Sami culture, which I had no prior knowledge of. We all sat in a traditional Sami home around a campfire after a tasty traditional meal as we listened & learned. Many people asked questions, which was a nice way to learn even more. Plus, the reindeer are adorable, and it was a unique experience getting to ride them & go for a short sled ride! I would definitely recommend this as a cultural experience when in Tromso/northern Norway.

This was a true highlight for our trip. A great experience for little kids. Grandma was completely blown away by the sights and the great stories. The reindeer are a little assertive, but it always felt safe even with the two year old.
