Breeze past the often-long entry lines and proceed on a guided tour to learn much more than you would while exploring independently. Spend time listening to in-depth commentary from a guide and then get the opportunity for some free time to explore on your own.

  • Skip-the-line entry to Schonbrunn Palace makes the most of your vacation time
  • Included headsets ensure you hear the guide clearly
  • Combination of a guided tour and free time suits all traveler types

What to Expect
Meet your guide in the afternoon in front of the Albertina Museum. Then hop on public transportation for the short ride to Schonbrunn Palace. Once you arrive, proceed directly inside, past the often-long entry lines, and start exploring on a guided tour. First, enjoy a short introduction of the gardens and then head inside the palace to hear stories of the palace's former residents and walk through the historic staterooms and the residential suite of rooms occupied by Emperor Franz Josef and his wife Elisabeth. Listen to your guide's in-depth commentary on the palace's history and the politics that unfolded here. After the tour, proceed to explore on your own; this combination of guided and free-time portions make this tour suitable for all types of travelers. Walk through the gardens, stop in the cafe for a snack, or take in the strudel show, which details how Viennese apple strudel is made. When you're done exploring, head back to central Vienna on your own.

The rooms themselves were magnificent & inspiring and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. I do wish the palace was less crowded. We went in late September. Might be nice to find a less busy time of year to go. And while there is no A/C, there are fans but unfortunately, many

We did this tour with Lisa (Mona Lisa) who is an excellent story teller and did a great job with the limited time and space inside the palace. Be forewarned that it's crowded inside, there are no pictures allowed and you have to rush through somewhat. Doing this tour without

Our guide was amazing. His knowledge of the history of Vienna along with his insights to current day events was very enlightening. He spoke excellent and although he had the tour planned. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and would highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful structure from the outside but way to big. The rules said NO photos - why not? But even so, it was so crowded, you could not get a clear shot of anything. Impossible to enjoy the beauty of the living space with the massive crowds.

Response from GoodViennaTeam, Guest Relations Manager at Skip the Line: Schonbrunn Palace Guided Tour in Vienna
Responded 2 weeks ago
Dear Bernard, we are very sorry that you rated us with only one star on the one side. On the other side we wonder if you really booked the Skip-the-Line tour with us (GoodVienna Tours) or have participated on a tour directly provided by the Palace. It is not quite reasonable to downsize the hard work of our certified tourguides who give their best to make the stay enjoyable and interesting. For some clarification though we want to emphasize that Goodviennatours has no influence on certain circumstances regarding the rules within the palace, so we are not responsible for the NO photo regulation. The reason might be that in former times people disregarded the no flash policy. Also it is hard for groups to stay together if there are always clients lacking behind because they want to take pictures. As you mentioned Schönbrunn palace is a quite crowded place in high season. This is no surprise since it is one of the if not THE main highlights Vienna can culturally offer and almost 8,7 million visitors a year (more than 4 times of Viennese inhabitants). Considering the size it shows how impressive this area is (all in all it is approximately the size of Monaco !!!) and how ambitious the Habsbourgs had been to reassemble the appearance of Versaille. Kind regards,
