    What to Expect
Visit: Tiergarten Schoenbrunn - Zoo Vienna, Use Underground U4 to Hietzing, from there it is about 10 minutes to walk., Vienna 1130 Austria

Head to Tiergarten Schönbrunn (Vienna Zoo) whenever you please for a day of exploring the animal kingdom. Founded as a imperial menagerie in 1752 as part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Schönbrunn Palace Gardens (Schlosspark Schoenbrunn), Tiergarten Schönbrunn is the oldest zoo in the world and is consistently named among Europe’s best.

See more than 700 species of animals from every continent as you wander the zoo independently. Marvel at tigers, jaguars, orangutans, koalas and elephants; immerse yourself in the magic of the Amazon; explore the icy Arctic; and feel the heat of a tropical rainforest. The stars of the show are the giant pandas — Tiergarten Schönbrunn is one of the few zoos worldwide to house these rare creatures, and you can learn all about the conservation efforts used to save this beloved species.

After seeing the exhibits, perhaps visit the petting zoo, watch an animal feeding session or hop aboard the panoramic train before making your own way back to your hotel. The recommended visit time for the entire zoo is three hours.

If you're a senior citizen or with a senior citizen, please note that the discounted entrance price, advertised on their website, only applies to Austrian senior citizens. It's a great day out, lots to do and see. Highly recommended.

One of the best we've been to. Easy to get to by the subway, friendly staff and great enclosures for the animals, and visitors. The section closest to entrance is well laid out with a great selection of big cats, and the pandas, with decent...More

Love this zoo! I was hesitant to go thinking it was going to be boring because I didn’t have children with me. But it’s a zoo for everybody, wonderful animals and kept super clean. Highly recommend it, if you’re animal lover.

The zoo is beautiful, well maintained, clean and wonderfully designed. Before leaving for Vienna we were warned that the animals do not go outside in the heat and this was VERY true, we arrived at about 9AM and by noon a lot of the animals...More

There are QR code readers. They do not care about text. But there was a lady to help us (but she helped us to put QR code in the reader). I do not know whether she can let you in without a ticket. But most likely she can.

There is train. And there are special carts (to be pulled) - for children under (I guess) 3 years.
