We were lucky: the weather was perfect - cool and sunny. Our guide was excellent. I enjoyed the stops we made along the way to the Abbey: Durnstein, St. Michael, and Kress. Very picturesque towns; gives you an idea of life in these towns along the Danube River bank. We had to wait for our turn to tour the interior of the Abbey. Photo taking was not allowed inside the Abbey.

Lovely day,

Tour of Abbey was interesting but included tours of 2 villages that were not mentioned
Dec 2019
The actual tour of the Abbey was interesting and informative but the tour company added about 2-1/2 hours in walking tours of 2 separate villages that were/are not mentioned in the description of the tour. It's a long day (8-1/2 hours) and it would be better to cut it a bit shorter.

They stopped in two towns knowing everthing was closed... coupd jave spent much more time in places that were open... but was rushed at the abbey because we went to towns that were completely closed down for the winter.

Amazing Scenery

I had this tour with my wife, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed lovely scenes of the natural beauty specially the Danube Valley part of the trip. The boat trip was just amazing and relaxing 1.45 hour tour. I would do this trip again if I am in Osteria.

Nice day trip, a good way to see a bit more of Vienna's surroundings
Jun 2019
I really enjoyed this trip. We got picked up with a new coach (though on the way back the toilet was stinking, like it was blocked or something) and started off to visit Durnstein which is a very nice little town. We walked about a bit and took some time to take some pictures of the surroundings, which were very nice. At the parking there is a wee restaurant where we got a drink which we enjoyed along the riverside before heading to the place where we would board the boat for the trip over the Danube. All together I think we spend about an hour cruising the river and while doing that we had a bite to eat. The food was lovely and plenty and the views were amazing. After the cruise we went on to Melk to visit the abbey. The abbey itself is stunning and the tour is ok, gives you an idea. Before the tour we had about 45 minutes to kill which we spent at the fountain to try and cool down as it was 45 degrees and there was not a lot of shade. We did have ice cream at the restaurant/terrace which again was nice. The views were stunning again. All in all a nice tour which I would recommend.

Wow
This really is a must see on any visit to Austria. The grounds and the views are amazing but the abbey is out of this world. It really gives you a sense of the period it was built in. Great tour from the guides, very informative.
