Overview
The original The Sound of Music tour is the top choice for fans of the iconic musical, visiting all the most memorable filming locations from the movie. Admire magnificent views of the Austrian Lake District; visit Mirabell Gardens, Mondsee Cathedral, and Lake Wolfgang; and sing along with the soundtrack on the tour bus.
What to Expect
Make your own way to Mirabellplatz in downtown Salzburg to meet your guide. Traveling aboard an air-conditioned coach, set out on a scenic drive through the rolling countryside of the Austrian Lake District.
As you drive to sites such as Leopoldskron Castle, Hellbrunn Castle, and Nonnberg Abbey, listen to the film’s soundtrack on the tour bus, and sing along to classics like "Do-Re-Mi" and "My Favorite Things." Jump out to admire the views and take photos at Mirabell Gardens, where Maria and the children sang "Do-Re-Mi"; see the gazebo where "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" was shot; and stroll around Lake Wolfgang, where the famous opening credits were shot.
The final stop of the day is in Mondsee, where you’ll have a chance to visit the beautiful Mondsee Cathedral, where Maria and Captain von Trapp were married, and enjoy some free time to shop for souvenirs.
On return to Salzburg, your tour ends back at the departure point.
