          Trip of a Lifetime
My husband and I just returned from a fabulous 8-day tour with Troll Expeditions. David Ingi Magnusson, our fearless leader, guided us with knowledge of his country and life as a native Icelander, as well as a good dose of sarcasm. From the minute we were picked up from our bus stop in Reykjavik, we were constantly on the go, listening to David teach us about the Volcanoes and Lava and glaciers that cover his country. He made extra side stops that he thought we would enjoy. Our group was a diverse mix from various counties and we enjoyed getting to know them as well as David. We didn’t have chargers on our bus so I was thankful that I brought a portable for recharging in between the hundreds of photos and videos I took. We are an active couple and enjoy difficult hikes and physical challenges and this trip did not disappoint (surprisingly it is classified as easy). David made sure we saw all the waterfalls, ate lunch in gas stations and enjoyed the best fish and chips. This truly was an amazing experience getting to see a country so full of natural beauty and wonders.

          Mother nature at its best!
Crystal Blue Ice Caves were amazing!! Tour was on time, driver/guide was great! Every year the ice caves change locations on the glacier, depending on where Mother Nature chooses to create them. Such a memorable experience. We did two tours with TROLL (other was at the Silfra Fissure Snorkleing), both were great! Highly recommend.

Can't get any clearer than this!
Edgar at Troll Adventures was great, as was the staff. Like clockwork with getting us prepped. Crystal clear waters in amazing Silfra Fissure, just like the pictures show. Was total about 2 hours total from getting dressed to leaving, once you're all done with the warm chocolately treats. Great people, great tour, weather cooperated! Had a great time!!

          Iceland is AMAZING!!!
We had a wonderful time on our small group tour. Everything was terrific. Our guide, Hinrik, was fantastic!!! The minibus was clean and spacious enough. The accommodations were rustic but nice. We saw 5-8 amazing sites each day. There was some fairly strenuous exercise but that’s necessary to see the beauty that is Iceland. I highly recommend this tour and BE SURE TO ASK FOR HINRIK.

          Great experience!
We had a great experience. Our guide/leader, Thor, was friendly, knowledgeable, and took us to parts of Iceland we would not have found on our own.

A must see as it won’t be here in 30 years!
Natalia was our guide and she was absolutely amazing! She was a ray of sunshine and positivity on a dreary day. I was not completely comfortable and she made me feel safe and confident in my ability. She was informative and educated us on what we were looking at and what was about to happen. I highly recommend this experience!

          Fantastic Tour!
I am so glad that we decided to go with this tour instead of doing it ourselves (which we had considered since we had a rental car). It was one of the best tours I have been on. The sights are spectacular, even on a rainy, foggy day (but I recommend taking rain gear). Also, our tour guide - Bjorn - was fantastic. He has tremendous knowledge of Iceland and shared so many interesting sights and anecdotes. At the same time, it was not at all overdone. The perfect mix of commentary, local music, and stops. The snorkeling was also amazing.

          Loved the Snorkeling!
Absolutely worth the money and a blast. I have a particular interest in geology, so we chose the four-stop geological wonders with snorkeling tour. The snorkeling was fun and not nearly as cold as I thought it would be. It was really cool to be able to see both plates and the new rift opened up in the last 10 years or so.

          Worth It!
Katla Ice Cave was definitely worth it. I was very nervous but our guide, Oscar, walked me through the whole hike. I am glad he pulled me through to experience the ice cave and the glacier. It was something else!

The glacierwalk was a big dissapointment. In the web-sites it was categorized as moderate demanding, but actually it was very very easy. We just walked (VERY SLOWLY) a bit in the glacier. I would not recommend this tour to anyone, who would like to experience something special.

The time in the black beach (Vik) was much too little. It would have been nice to have more time there and for example, skip one of the waterfalls instead.

The tourguide was friendly and nice.

Fabulous tour! One of the Best. Juan was very entertaining and knowledgeable, the stops where breathtaking and the Glacier hike is a lifetime experience. I never practice sport and I was quite anxious but I did it. Juan was a very skilled and patient professor and we were not rushed.

This is a good trip but you must be prepared! The information provided for this tour is very limited and lots of people turn up completely unprepared for the Glacier walk.
Pick up by minibus from your hotel is great but was running a little later than the time given to us.
Sadly the weather was awful today which meant we didn't get to see all the beautiful views.
We stopped off at 2 waterfalls which are amazing to see but would have been more enjoyable in nicer weather.
There was a quick stop at a service station after an hour or so for toilets/drinks/snacks.
We then went to the black sand beach - this was where we had our lunch stop. There's a restaurant on the beach. Prices are high even for Iceland as it's mainly a tourist spot.
It's a beautiful beach and rock formations to look at.

Then we headed to the Glacier. For this part we were not prepared enough. We had small trainer boots and warm waterproof coats but in the rain/snow/ice these were not enough.
We were provided with full on walking boots, crampons, helmets, harnesses and ice picks.
Within a short space of time the rain had soaked through all our clothes. When we were walking it was OK, we stayed warm but some members of the group were very slow so it became quite stop start walking - which made us cold.
The experience on the Glacier was amazing, I will say it was one of the best experiences we've had in Iceland. However I think the tour organisers need to be clearer about what is involved and what clothing/equipment people need. Some equipment may be provided by the company but can't be guaranteed especially when it's busy.
When the weather is better they usually do 2-2.5 hours on the Glacier. It is hard work hiking over the ice.
Only people with decent walking experience should do this in my opinion.
Full walking boots, waterproof trousers/appropriate walking trousers, warm clothing, gloves and waterproof coats are essentials if there is any risk of rain. A change of clothes and plastic bag to put wet stuff in would also be useful.

For people who are relatively fit and enjoy hiking I would highly recommend the trip but be prepared.

On the way back there is one toilet stop usually. It takes around 2.5 hours to drive back to Reykjavik from the Glacier.

My husband and I experienced one of the most wonderful excursions of our life because of our guide Mike. We are 68 years old and in pretty good shape. We were confident we could do the glacier thanks to the professionalism, expertise and extreme attentive as of our guide. The day was well planned. The waterfalls and the black sand beach stops were spectacular. But the glacier part of the tour was what was the most memorable. We totally recommend this tour for the physically fit and for people who are not afraid of height. Again, the agenda of the day was great, but it was our glacier experience with Mike, that made it one of the most memorable excursions we have ever been on.

A brilliant day trip with a good driver/guide who even got my teenager putting some of his Icelandic music on her playlist! Glacier hike was the highlight of the day and again the guides were good. Would recommend taking food as whilst there are some cafes etc they do get very busy and you don't want to waste too much time queuing.

This was an incredible tour! We had beautiful weather and our guide was great! We had a nice amount of time at each place and didn’t feel rushed at all. Our highlight was definitely the glacier hike with Alex as our guide. He was patient, informative and very friendly. He made sure everyone was geared up correctly, even putting crampons on for those who struggled and made sure we were coping well with the hike, constantly looking back to see everyone was doing ok. He knew exactly when we needed short breaks to take photos and rest and happily took the photos for us. He was very knowledgable about the landscape and I wouldn’t hesitate to book him again or recommend the tour! Great day!

Jacob was a fab guide and despite the dreary weather he made the trip a lot more lively. The sights were truly marvellous. I wish we had a little more time at the waterfalls and to lunch. Despite running about 45 mins late from the scheduled departure, we did catch up on all that was promised plus a trip to feed the Icelandic Horses .. well done

Łukasz was phenomenal. He was a friendly, informative, funny, and safe guide and driver. He went out of his way to avoid the weather and give us the best possible experience. The glacier hike was incredible- I wish we were in Iceland longer to do the climb as well. Natalia was the second guide at the glacier and she was awesome as well. I can’t recommend this day tour enough- I’m sure it is great with any guide but Łukasz made this experience the absolute best.

This was a definite highlight of our trip. Our guide Gummi was enthusiastic, friendly and very knowledgeable. In fact, he made it feel like all the people that didn't know each other were on one big family road trip.

The sights are very nice generally but probably not as breathtaking as the Golden Circle but the Glacier Hike was a real highlight for us. It wasn't too tough and we spent some good time with Gummi and his brother on the glacier with lots of info and lots of fun.

        All in all, highly recommended.

One thing to note, compared to other tours there wasn't an emphasis on toilet stops so just be sure to ask if you need the toilet. Also, there is no built in stop for lunch. Either take some with you or there is a stop where you can buy a few bits but munch between stops.

Highly recommended and well done Gummi - great to have an enthusiastic local with all your stories doing the tour. You were the best guide on our entire trip.

We booked a 12 hour private tour for which we were charged right away and received a confirmation email.
Pickup was supposed to be 8 o’clock in the morning from our hotel. We woke up early while on vacation to be ready for pickup. Went down to the lobby, called the company to make sure they’re coming. The guy on the phone says that the driver is on its way. I receive a phone call 10 minutes later saying that the driver is not willing to do the tour for the day, they can reschedule for tomorrow, which we did not want to take since we had other plans.
All im saying is if you book with this company you might not end up going on your tour when you wake up early in the morning. Beware!!!!

Hey Leya1319 Thanks for taking the time to write the review, this was a strange day for you and for tourism in Iceland. All routes out of Reykjavik were closed due to snow on the roads. So of course we did not conduct this tour or any minibus tour on this day, I am very sorry for the short notice and please note that this was out of our hands 100%. Now spring is coming, which we are very thankful for after the harshest winter in long time. Kindly, Tröll
