About
Do you want to enjoy the natural beauty of the Finnish lakes by boating around the Säynätsalo and Muuratsalo islands? The boat's captain tells you about the nature and takes care of your security.
We take a slow and quiet tour around some of the most beautiful scenery of North Lake Päijänne, the second largest and deepest lake in Finland. Other boats equipped with more powerful engines that slide on the surface of the water slip by, but after the fuss dies down, your boat's silence becomes even more pronounced. The goal is to replace the motor with an electric one as long as their technology and batteries become established and prices fall.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Kungavsand0 contributionsNice tourWe took the Alvar Aalto – e la natura – Architectural Cruise. Amazing boatride with steam boat from Jyväskylä harbour to Säynätsalo. Weather was perfect and nice views of lakeside Finland. At Säynätsalo Town Hall we got a very interesting guide in English and we really enjoyed the peaceful place. We ended our visit at the café and took the bus back to the city.Written 6 November 2024
- dgjohansson0 contributionsIf you pass byArchitecture is hard to have an opinion about since it is so different. I looked at a few Arvo Aalto buildings listed to become world heritage sites, and I have a hard time finding the greatness of them. However this place was interesting and looked really spectacular from some angles. If you pass by, it is worth a quick look, but it is nothing you plan a trip to Finland for exclusively.Written 25 March 2023
- Derettens0 contributionsPleasing on the eye ...... but.... you need to be either a fan of the architect Alvar Aalto or an architect to really benefit from making the 40km round trip from Jyväskylä. The intriguing aspects, for me, are the thought that the main council chamber must lack natural lighting (but I've not been inside yet); the light and airiness of the unroofed courtyard with it's rectangular water feature; and the juxtaposition of the concrete steps leading up to the entrance to the Town Hall and the turf steps on the other side of the courtyard. This is my second visit. Four years ago I forgot to take a camera.Written 8 September 2015
- J11P330 contributionsAalto's functional architecturNice architectur just beside my family's summerplace. Have you seen Aalto's private summercottage? It's a nice place too!Written 17 March 2014
- Johnson2300 contributionsVisit to the Town HallThe village/small town is quite quiet and did not take long to walk around at all. This was a convenient place to stop off to visit the Town Hall as we were especially interested in Alvar Aalto, the architect. The Town Hall was excellent to look around, and free, before going on to the house Aalto built on the island at Muuratsalo - which is well worth a visit even though it is not very easy to find by car.Written 17 October 2013
