      Amazing Finnish experience
We had a great tour with Jeff. Luckily we ended up having a private tour and it was great to hear from Jeff all about the National Park we went to given how knowledgeable he was in regards to the nature right down to the bird life, types of berries that grow (tasting included) as well as mushrooms! The walk around the Forrest was lovely & we enjoyed the Campfire lunch that Jeff cooked up overlooking the frozen lake. A highlight was the Finnish Smoked Sauna as well as cold water plunge. We could see the passion that Jeff has for what he does and it was lovely to hear about how he and his partner Kiia have built their business. We would certainly recommend taking this tour as part of the Finnish experience when staying in Helsinki. Kylie & Michael

      Authentic and Spectacular experience
This was a spectacular day. Beautiful trails covered in snow and our guide Alex tailored the hike for our group and was very knowledgeable. He took great photos for us and made us a delicious (and filling) lunch beside the lake. He answered all of our questions and walked us through the sauna/lake swim which was incredible. The best day of our trip, I would highly recommend this experience- wish we had time to book another trip with Taiga.

      Extremely relaxing day in nature
This was my favourite day on my trip to Helsinki and surrounding area. It was incredibly relaxing to hike in the forest, then experience the sauna and lake culture (sit in the sauna, dip in the lake, repeat). The lunch was tasty, and our guide was very friendly, fluent in English, and patient when I asked him loads of questions about Finnish nature and culture. The other guests were also very friendly and it was a great day out.

      A must do tour!
This tour is a must! The hike was spectacular, with amazing views and Jeff is very knowledgeable which made it also educational. The Finnish sauna is definitely worth doing and whilst the Lake was pretty cold in October you still have to give it a go. The food Jeff cooked on the hike was also great and quite filling. This was a great day out and I'd definitely recommend it. If we come back to Helsinki we'll be doing it again.

      Wonderful day
A wonderful experience. I was visiting Helsinki and this was the perfect way to see the magical Finnish forests. The guide was friendly, funny, and super knowledgeable. The meal was wonderful and they even made a vegetarian option for me. Everything was well planned. Highly recommend!

      Informative and fun mushroom hunt
I can highly recommend the tour with Taiga Times. Jeff is a very knowledgeable and pleasant guide who gave us a great introduction into the art of mushroom hunting. We had a lot of fun and found plenty of chanterelles and some other mushrooms with which Jeff prepared a tasty lunch. There were even mushrooms left that we could bring home for an omlette on the next day :)

      Must visit: great tour!
Jeff was an incredible story teller, easy to talk to, and made sure that we got the right exposure and experienced the nature in Helsinki beautifully. He was encouraging, witty and made sure everyone felt comfortable and involved. Thanks very much for a lifetime of memories. I recommend this trip wholeheartedly who loves nature or wants to connect with their inner selves.

      Extraordinary Experience
The grey, rainy day did not dampen the adventurous spirit of our group of eight from four different continents. Sturdy raincoats were available for all. Our hike through the forest identifying and gathering mushrooms was both delightful and informative. Jeff was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and all the various mushrooms. Jeff actually cooked the mushrooms we gathered along with a hearty lunch. The sun broke through as we hiked back for the smoke sauna. The sauna was outrageously hot and the lake plunge outrageously cold but to our surprise absolutely exhilarating! We are in our 70’s and found the "National Park Hike & Finnish Smoke Sauna Experience with Campfire Lunch" extraordinary! Thank you Jeff and Kiia, Carpe Diem!

I had an absolute blast. Must do if you’re visiting Helsinki. The hike, foraging for mushrooms, the lunch, sauna, and swim were all amazing. I couldn’t have done this on my own. Our guide was knowledgeable and the group was fun. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience - you will not regret booking
I would give this tour 100 stars if that were an option. Our guide, Alex, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the forest. We found some mushrooms and had a delightful meal of mushrooms and salmon soup. I will absolutely book this tour again if we return to the Helsinki area.

My partner and I booked both the National Park and Smoke Sauna Experience and the Winter Wonderland Hike, which we undertook earlier this month, based on great reviews we had seen and even then the tours completely exceeded our expectations. Jeff was the perfect guide and had such an impressive wealth of knowledge. He generously prepared two different lunches for us for the two tours we took (both delicious!) and always had time to answer our questions. These experiences were the highlight of our trip to Finland and we highly recommend Taiga Times.

This was my second adventure with Taiga Times and, again, I loved every minute. Jeff was an excellent guide, offering lots of knowledge about Finnish nature and taking great care of the small group. The whole experience including the booking and admin was very well organised, and the national park we *hiked through was absolutely magical. I look forward to more Taiga tours and highly recommend them to anyone visiting Helsinki.

*It wasn't a difficult walk and was mostly flat ground. I suggest wearing decent snow boots.

Did this trip today . What can I say it totally lived up to all my expectations. Taigo tours were excellent and really took care of us throughout the whole trip , providing snow boots ( even though I had my own they advised they weren’t high enough ) the snow was deep , socks and a hiking stick . Great experience walking through the beautiful forest where they shared their knowledge of the local flora and fauna. We walked to a picnic site where they shared a beautifully prepared lunch of salmon soup and rye bread around a lovely toasty fire and a special cake . We hiked back via the frozen lake . The stillness and quietness of the forest was amazing. Get yourselves out of Helsinki and experience this amazing trip . Truly unforgettable experience and one I will remember for a long time . Great hosts , great day what more can I say

Fabulous hike through the woods! The walk is pretty easy going and the terrain quite flat (depending on how much snow I suppose) and the guides were extremely knowledgable, friendly and helpful.

The little camp that you arrive at to have lunch is beautiful as it is set by a frozen lake. Also it is worth mentioning that there are non-flushing toilets at the comp (as hadn’t noticed many other reviews pointing this out and I had wondered this myself!).

Overall a great experience to see a bit more of Finland and would recommend to everyone staying in Helsinki :)

    Thanks guys!

What a great day out with Jeff! A chilled, relaxed hike through gorgeous forest. Delicious soup freshly prepared by a camp fire, next to a frozen lake.

Jeff was a brilliant guide, clearly loved the Finish forests and all the nature that lives there, and his enthusiasm was infectious amongst the group. I'd definitely return for a summer hike or fungus foray even though I hate mushrooms!

Fantastic trip! One of the main reasons we chose to visit Finland (as i'm sure it is for many) is the natural beauty. We were undecided how were would go about experiencing the best of it, but would 100% recommend Taiga times and already intend to return! Having local knowledge was great it was well organised to see some of the best spots in enchanted forests (and walked on a frozen lake) with fascinating insights into the flora and fauna with prompt pick up and drop offs,. The food was also incredible. If you like you Instagram there is an abundance of Instagrammable spots! Can't wait to go again!

This was just an unforgettable experience and the best part of my week in Helsinki. As a guide, Jeff is the real deal - highly skilled and extremely knowledgeable. As a person he’s an easygoing, welcoming host, and a pleasure to spend the day with. I had the best time! If you’re in Helsinki for even a short period of time, this is a terrific way to see and experience the gorgeous and serene wilderness of Finland which is so crazy close by to the city. Thank you, Jeff!

I had an amazing time going around Liesjärvi national park with Jeff. I only made the decision to book this trip the day before and wasn't particularly well equipped but Jeff was very welcoming and provided me with a good pair of boots so I could properly enjoy the trip. It was great going around the national park with somebody so knowledgeable and really enhanced an already brilliant experience. The rainbow trout soup in the kota felt very authentic too! I would be very interested in doing this trip again during the summer or winter to see the forest during different times of the year.

We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Taiga Times! Our guide, Jeff, made our day truly memorable as he expertly led us through the breathtaking national park. The day was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our leisurely walk. The beauty of the surroundings was beyond words, and Jeff's knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer to our exploration. If we find ourselves back in Helsinki, there's no doubt we'll be booking another tour with Taiga Times to create more wonderful memories.

This was a great day trip outside of the city. The pickup and dropoff was easy. It was quite cold (as you would expect in January) but it ended up being very nice despite that (layer up!). The national park was beautiful and the hot salmon soup cooked over a fire was perfect!
