Highlight of our Trip to Helsinki
My 22 year old daughter and I went on the Magical Forest Hike and a really memorable day . We learnt about foraging , saw some beautiful fungi and had a delicious lunch that our guide had cooked and brought along for us. He was a great communicator and knowledgeable about the plants and animals. We cooked the mushrooms we had collected over a log fire in a cosy hut. It was chilly - but he had the foresight to bring extra layers for anyone that needed it. We would highly recommend this trip , as we absolutely loved it.

Jeffrey is a top guide. He knew how to take us to his universe: discovery of frozen winter mushrooms... Excellent Mael😍 Tasting of mushrooms collected in the morning then delicious salmon soup...

    10/10 would recommend!
This incredible mushroom hunting experience has far exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Jeff, had an infectious passion for mushrooms, berries and nature in general. I now feel confident identifying some common edible mushrooms, like chanterelles! Jeff's cooking was also a delight - our lunch consisted of salmon soup and rye bread, creamy chanterelles, some cake and blueberry juice. Despite the rainy weather, I had an absolute blast and I highly recommend this mushroom hunt!

    Wonderful and magical
Jeff was so kind and relaxed. He helped us understand the forest and had everything we needed! So nice to not need to carry lunch or a seat pad since it had been wet from the rain. The soup was amazing!! I would recommend this to all nature lovers and those who want to give it a try! Also the forest of Finland are magical I don’t know if there is anyone who couldn’t find something to enjoy.

    Must-do experience!
Jeff was an amazing guide-friendly, knowledgeable and informative. The scenery/nature was beautiful and it was so fun to experience the sauna. The lake was *very cold* but it felt so refreshing after being in the sauna. Lunch was also delicious! This whole experience was the highlight of our trip!

Great hike and sauna with guide Jeff.
The hike and sauna experience was fantastic. Jeff was an amazingly knowledgeable guide. He showed and explained all mushrooms and berries that we found in the forest and provided lots of interesting facts. The provided lunch was delicious and authentic at a stunning scenery. The sauna and swimming in the lake was fantastic and very authentic. The organisation before the trip was great and Kiia was very nice. She provided all necessary information and made the booking a pleasant experience. I would book this trip any time again if I come back to Helsinki and I would recommend every traveller to book it.

    Book Your Taiga Experience Today!
We booked the Magical Taiga Forest Hike. This was such an incredible experience with Jeff at Taiga Times! Jeff was wonderful!! We were educated on so many varieties of mushrooms, picked blueberries the whole way, took some time to do a forest sound bath, got to eat the chanterelle mushrooms we picked (cooked over a fire), and had a delicious warm meal! They were even able to cater to my dietary preferences (vegan) and my husband's food allergy of fish. Whenever I make my way back to Helsinki, I will 100% be booking another experience with them. Highly recommend!

Was worth it and I would like to come again
I enjoyed this tour a lot. It's an excellent destination choice, Porkkala is a beautiful place! It was very convenient to get picked up at and be brought back to Helsinki Central Station. The small group size (8) worked perfect for me and Jeff (the guide) created a friendly and easy-going atmosphere. It was also very informative, Jeff told a lot about local berries, mushrooms etc. I only wish there was a little bit more time to walk around Porkkala independently (an hour instead of half-hour?) During this visit to Helsinki I did not have time left to join the other tours with Taiga Times but that's definitely on my bucket list for the next time I visit Helsinki. Thank you very much , Jeff and Kiia, for the great experience!

    Great Tour and Experience
This was a great experience for us because of our excellent tour guide Jeff. We hiked the national forest, searched for berries and mushrooms and were served a delicious lunch. Our tour guide made sure that everyone in our 7 person group was able to ask all their questions and have a great time. We then enjoyed a sauna experience and a dip in the lake. Highly recommend this trip. My adult daughter and I couldn’t say enough about how we enjoyed this. Thank you Taiga tours and Jeff!

    Great trip outside the city
Excellent trip outside the city. Beautiful surroundings and plenty to see during the hike. Jeff was a very knowledgeable guide and pointed out a lot of different flora and fauna. Lunch was well prepared and had plenty of time to explore the forest. Highly recommended!

What a great day out with Jeff! A chilled, relaxed hike through gorgeous forest. Delicious soup freshly prepared by a camp fire, next to a frozen lake.

Jeff was a brilliant guide, clearly loved the Finish forests and all the nature that lives there, and his enthusiasm was infectious amongst the group. I'd definitely return for a summer hike or fungus foray even though I hate mushrooms!

I had an amazing experience with Taiga Times in February. After two tours (Winter Wonderland and Archipelago), I left the forest feeling like an expert on local birds and vegetation - I definitely didn’t come in that way! Jeff is just a very knowledgeable and engaging guide. An actual certified wilderness tour expert he’s hard to stump on any questions you may have, and does a great job picking out interesting plants and tracks along the way. Extremely kind as well - he could have canceled in me as I was the only one signed up for the Archipelago tour but didn’t and I had ended up with a phenomenal personal tour. Finally, I have to say the food we had a lunch was better than anything I could have found in town even though that wasn’t really the point 😅 . Potato stir fry and pasta by campfire with links, tea, rich coffee and chocolaty desserts - even went out of their way as I’m a vegan! Thanks Jeff and Taiga Tours, hoping to do another tour next time I’m in Finland 😁

I had an amazing time going around Liesjärvi national park with Jeff. I only made the decision to book this trip the day before and wasn't particularly well equipped but Jeff was very welcoming and provided me with a good pair of boots so I could properly enjoy the trip. It was great going around the national park with somebody so knowledgeable and really enhanced an already brilliant experience. The rainbow trout soup in the kota felt very authentic too! I would be very interested in doing this trip again during the summer or winter to see the forest during different times of the year.

We were lucky to be the only guests this day, so we were picked up at our hotel. Dietary restriction was taken care of elegantly. Jeff was well prepared with food, coffee, and extra gear. He was friendly and had generally taken care of everything while we basically just had to enjoy the walks. Almost a restaurant visit in the middle of the Finnish winter forest.

Jeff at Taiga Times couldn't have been a better guide. Not only did I get to see a part of Finland I wouldn't have had access to otherwise, I learned lots about the Taiga forest and its flora. All that plus a tasty lunch in a toasty shelter? What a wonderful way to spend the day. Because it was a solo trip, Jeff picked me up right from my accommodations and whisked me out to the country. Such a good break from the city sightseeing.

It was again a very amazing tour with Jeff from Taiga Times! I really enjoyed the tour to Liesjärvi Nationalpark a lot. Jeff is a wonderful guide and he was again very well prepared. Really everything fits at a tour with Jeff. At this tour it was hilarious to hear the silence, seeing the footsteps of the animals, simply enjouying nature and also very informative explanations. A highly recommendation from my side! :-)

This small group tour was a beautiful day tour out of Helsinki. While there wasn’t a lot of snow when we went, we thoroughly enjoyed the hike and looking out for different animals (mostly woodpeckers). Bring a camera with a good zoom lens if you can - the woodpeckers hang out high up in the trees. Our guides were knowledgeable and professional, yet the trip had a relaxed, casual and friendly feel. A real gem of a tour.

I had a great time exploring the national park with Jeff my guide. He was very informed and knowledgeable about not only the park itself, but also the wildlife and history of Finland. He brought a plethora of extra supplies Incase you forgot something and he makes a mean salmon soup for you to enjoy at the camp sight. I highly recommend!
