      Wonderful hike and sauna experience!
This amazing experience was everything we could have wish for! :) We were group of 4 participants. Jeff, our guide, is very nice, caring and well prepared. He explained everything and also brought special clothes (boots, slippers, etc) in case of need. Even though he is canadian, he lives many years in Finland and knows a lot about it. The ride to the national park in minivan is very comfy. The hike was easy and very pleasant. Took about and hour to the lunch spot near the lake, on well handled path. We also did some mushroom foraging and bird watching on the way. Jeff chopped the wood and cooked a nice lunch for us on the grilling spot. The sauna experience was amazing too. There are 3 outside smoke (mix) saunas with various temperatures. The hottest one had 134 degrees. I highly recommend to take a dip in the cold lake after the sauna and relax on the bench. One could feel a bit dizzy but it passes in couple minutes and wellbeing feeling that comes is priceless. There is a hairdryer in the changing room. It was a perfect day! We had a really great time and I'd recommend this experience to anyone who wants to relax and get away from the city hassle in a very comfortable way! Thank you Jeff and Kia and all the best!

      Amazing experience
A wonderful experience with Jeff. We luckily had a 1 on 1 tour as the other members of our group cancelled. Jeff was very friendly and very easy to get a long with. The tour through the national forest was amazing and Jeff gave us a lot of information on the Forrest, the types of food and berries that grows there and a lot of information on wildlife. We stoped for lunch and Jeff made a lovely Campfire lunch, provided drinks and surprised us with a birthday cake adding to the experience to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday! Jeff explained the sauna and cold plunge experience really well and what to expect. We really enjoyed this experience and would love to go again. Thank you

      Finnish archipelago adventure
Wonderful experience from booking initially with Kiia , and culminating with a great day in the care of Jeff. Jeff was knowledgeable and caring about the environment and he made a mean fish soup! The walk was gentle but interesting and the lunch point by the sea was perfect. Short but wonderful introduction to the Finnish countryside. Do yourself a favour and support these guys doing a great job!

      Magical winter experience
This was our favorite hiking tour in Finland! Jeff was very kind and knowledgeable of the forest. He educated us a lot during our hike and provided us with amazing food. This is a must if you are staying in Helsinki! You will be connecting with nature in a very special way.

      Great tour!
I had a great time on the hike and sauna. Jeff was well-prepared and provided us with the gear we needed for hiking on an icy trail as well as the sauna. He was also very knowledgeable about the plants and other information about the national park. Highly recommend the tour!

      Great experience!
Fabulous hike through the woods! The walk is pretty easy going and the terrain quite flat (depending on how much snow I suppose) and the guides were extremely knowledgable, friendly and helpful. The little camp that you arrive at to have lunch is beautiful as it is set by a frozen lake. Also it is worth mentioning that there are non-flushing toilets at the comp (as hadn’t noticed many other reviews pointing this out and I had wondered this myself!). Overall a great experience to see a bit more of Finland and would recommend to everyone staying in Helsinki :) Thanks guys!

Blueberry on the top of our Finnish Escape!
We joined 2 tours and they ended up being highlights of our Great Finnish Escape! We had a short ride to Porkkalanniemi, which was absolutely stunning and peaceful. Hiking immersed in understated beauty of the Finnish wilderness on a crisp Saturday morning, basked in the beautiful winter's sun haze! ☺️Perfection! We were part of a small group along with guides Jeff and Christian. I've never hiked in snow and ice but they were on hand with shoe spikes and hike sticks. Jeff was enthusiastic about the local flora and fauna🐾. I'm sometimes a shy, quiet person but Jeff was really easy to chat to. We were looking out for deer and moose. Jeff gave us fun facts about the trees and little quizzes, we had time to wander before tasty salmon soup next to the fire on the water's edge, listening to stories about Finland. Seeing the Archipelago was fantastic, what a beautiful part of the world. ❤️ Our last day in Finland, we headed into foggy, mysterious Sipoonkorpi National Park. It ended up as a private tour as there was a no show. Jeff is a great guide, very friendly and informative. I felt safe and comfortable in the middle of the wilderness. We shared stories whilst taking in the sheer beauty of the misty Bisajärvi frozen lake 😍 The surrounding fog made it dreamlike👌🏾. A missed Curling or Ice Hockey opportunity (although I think we would lose the pebble / puck in the thick fog 😂 oops). We learnt about mushrooms and picked blueberries. Jeff prepped veggie sausages and potatoes and he gave me two gluten free chocolate cakes (I ate the other at work to help with holiday blues!). The best way to end the day was in the dark smoke sauna🧖🏽‍♀️. I was having so much fun I totally forgot about the cold. Jeff was really patient and positive, I even managed to take the ice water plunge as the ducks watched🦆👀😅. I'm pleasantly surprised how much I adored Finland, it's now a cherished trip in our Nordic adventures! Nordic life seems to suit me well! Thank you Jeff for being an absolute 💎 gem, we really enjoyed spending time with you. We hope to see you in a warmer season; maybe on a trip where I also make my way to Lake Saimaa, obviously the 🧌 trolls and 🦭 seals are awaiting me. God knows I'll miss the berries, smoke saunas, mustard and the smell of pine soon enough. (I still have the piece of pine you gave us, I'm sorry if I wasn't allowed to take it, too late, it's here with me.) Start and end with 🌲 Taiga Times🌲 and you can't go wrong! Love Saima and David xx

      A Memorable Finnish Experience
I highly recommend this tour. It was great opportunity to get out of the city for some fun in nature. It is a very well planned and professional tour. Jeff provides boots and other winter clothing if you need it, which I did! The hike was beautiful and educational, with stories about the plants and wildlife. Lunch was very charming, hearty and tasty, served in a traditional camp style. Hot blueberry juice was our drink, a nice surprise. Jeff was happy to accommodate my requests for a gluten-free and beef-free lunch. The grand finale was the sauna and dip in the lake, also an unforgettable Finnish experience.

      Fun and easy experience
Such a fun and easy way to experience Finland's nature. I booked at short notice and had an amazing time with such a knowledgeable and friendly guide. The Salmon soup was excellent as well. I couldn't recommend this experience more!

A lovely day out from Helsinki
I chose this tour as I wanted to see a bit of the Finnish countryside during a short trip to Helsinki. The trip was really well organised. Great communication before the trip and really easy to find Jeff and his minibus on the day. The group of eight was a really nice number. Jeff was really engaging with his knowledge of fauna and flora. Not only did he accommodate my vegan dietary requirements, but the soup was really delicious and thank you for finding a vegan runebergintorttu!

      Highlight of our trip
This day was the highlight of our trip and we couldn’t recommend it more. Jeff is super prepared and very kind, with spare flip flops for the sauna, towels and even snow boots and socks for the unprepared! The hike is a beautiful one and took us over a frozen lake, with lunch prepared on a hilltop overlooking the landscape. Lunch was a gorgeous salmon soup and Jeff even came with a cake and candles for my birthday! The sauna is an incredible experience - dark, smoke-filled and hot enough to send you straight into the icy lake to cool off. Thank you so much to the Taiga team for making my day so special and hopefully we’ll see you again in berry season!

Taiga Times: A Scenic Adventure Unveiling Nature's Splendor in Helsinki
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Taiga Times! Our guide, Jeff, made our day truly memorable as he expertly led us through the breathtaking national park. The day was filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our leisurely walk. The beauty of the surroundings was beyond words, and Jeff's knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer to our exploration. If we find ourselves back in Helsinki, there's no doubt we'll be booking another tour with Taiga Times to create more wonderful memories.

      Must-do experiences!
My partner and I booked both the National Park and Smoke Sauna Experience and the Winter Wonderland Hike, which we undertook earlier this month, based on great reviews we had seen and even then the tours completely exceeded our expectations. Jeff was the perfect guide and had such an impressive wealth of knowledge. He generously prepared two different lunches for us for the two tours we took (both delicious!) and always had time to answer our questions. These experiences were the highlight of our trip to Finland and we highly recommend Taiga Times.

      Really enjoyable
Really enjoyed this day trip. Jeff was very friendly and knowledgable. The hike was nice; it was very snowy but it was an easy walk - no hills or anything like that. We then had a nice lunch and walked back to the cafe before we went to the Sauna. The Sauna/ice bath experience was lovely and I would recommend it to anyone.

This incredible mushroom hunting experience has far exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Jeff, had an infectious passion for mushrooms, berries and nature in general. I now feel confident identifying some common edible mushrooms, like chanterelles!

Jeff's cooking was also a delight - our lunch consisted of salmon soup and rye bread, creamy chanterelles, some cake and blueberry juice.

Despite the rainy weather, I had an absolute blast and I highly recommend this mushroom hunt!

As experienced mushroom hunters, our guy did a really good job answering our difficult questions.
They also handled the rest of the crowd, who were novice mushroom hunters, very well.
    The lunch was excellent.
    The location was gorgeous.
The forest never fails us and they picked a great one.

This is a must do when visiting Finland! Jeff, the guide, is super chill and knowledgable on Finnish nature. We learned a lot during the Mushroom Foraging tour and had a sumptuous meal in the wild. Would 100% do it again! I say whimsical because it really felt like some tiny fairies or cute creatures could be living in the quiet woods.
Ps: remember to ask Jeff where he got those beautiful cups and bowls he uses to serve the guests ;)

We had a great time exploring a Finnish forest and hunting for mushrooms. We scored a bounty of chanterelles and a couple of porcinis. Jeff (our guide) was very informative and made the tour interesting and educational. If we were in Helsinki longer we probably would have done another tour with Taiga Times. I highly recommend going with them.

I had a spare day in Helsinki and am so glad I spent it with Taiga Times! Jeff is a really fun and organised guide and ensured I had a great experience. I highly recommend the 'mushroom hunting' tour, it's almost like a hike in that you do get to experience the national park, but it just has that extra level of interactivity.
