- pennysG4946NY00Highlight of our Trip to HelsinkiMy 22 year old daughter and I went on the Magical Forest Hike and a really memorable day . We learnt about foraging , saw some beautiful fungi and had a delicious lunch that our guide had cooked and brought along for us. He was a great communicator and knowledgeable about the plants and animals. We cooked the mushrooms we had collected over a log fire in a cosy hut. It was chilly - but he had the foresight to bring extra layers for anyone that needed it. We would highly recommend this trip , as we absolutely loved it.
- Inspire009721554840010/10 would recommend! This incredible mushroom hunting experience has far exceeded my expectations. Our guide, Jeff, had an infectious passion for mushrooms, berries and nature in general. I now feel confident identifying some common edible mushrooms, like chanterelles! Jeff's cooking was also a delight - our lunch consisted of salmon soup and rye bread, creamy chanterelles, some cake and blueberry juice. Despite the rainy weather, I had an absolute blast and I highly recommend this mushroom hunt!
- 3asm00Wonderful experienceHighly recommended trip to the national park! Jeff was so knowledgable and fun! kiia was also so great on the phone when inquiring about the trip!
- dianarF7529KJ00Must-do experience!Jeff was an amazing guide-friendly, knowledgeable and informative. The scenery/nature was beautiful and it was so fun to experience the sauna. The lake was *very cold* but it felt so refreshing after being in the sauna. Lunch was also delicious! This whole experience was the highlight of our trip!
- Robin105200Great hike and sauna with guide Jeff. The hike and sauna experience was fantastic. Jeff was an amazingly knowledgeable guide. He showed and explained all mushrooms and berries that we found in the forest and provided lots of interesting facts. The provided lunch was delicious and authentic at a stunning scenery. The sauna and swimming in the lake was fantastic and very authentic. The organisation before the trip was great and Kiia was very nice. She provided all necessary information and made the booking a pleasant experience. I would book this trip any time again if I come back to Helsinki and I would recommend every traveller to book it.
- R9210GGmariaf00Was worth it and I would like to come againI enjoyed this tour a lot. It's an excellent destination choice, Porkkala is a beautiful place! It was very convenient to get picked up at and be brought back to Helsinki Central Station. The small group size (8) worked perfect for me and Jeff (the guide) created a friendly and easy-going atmosphere. It was also very informative, Jeff told a lot about local berries, mushrooms etc. I only wish there was a little bit more time to walk around Porkkala independently (an hour instead of half-hour?) During this visit to Helsinki I did not have time left to join the other tours with Taiga Times but that's definitely on my bucket list for the next time I visit Helsinki. Thank you very much , Jeff and Kiia, for the great experience!
- oldgapyearlady197200National park hikeJeff is an absolute superstar! He was very knowledgeable regarding edible fruits interesting mushrooms. Our lunch was tasty in a lovely setting. The highlight was the sauna and swim in the lake. Jeff put us all at ease and had a very laid back approach. I would definitely recommend this trip.
- Foodandvin00Great Tour and ExperienceThis was a great experience for us because of our excellent tour guide Jeff. We hiked the national forest, searched for berries and mushrooms and were served a delicious lunch. Our tour guide made sure that everyone in our 7 person group was able to ask all their questions and have a great time. We then enjoyed a sauna experience and a dip in the lake. Highly recommend this trip. My adult daughter and I couldn’t say enough about how we enjoyed this. Thank you Taiga tours and Jeff!
- GoPlaces4155183298800Loved this tour!We had the best time! It was my favorite thing we did in our trip to Finland and Estonia! We had great communication and a confidante ride to the hike/sauna. Jeff was prepared for us with towels and shower shoes. It was a great cultural experience and so fun!
- Sami12401200Glad I chose this tripThe park was amazingly beautiful. Our guide Helena was lively, knowledgable and enthusiastically sharing information about the surrounding nature, trees, and animals. We stopped by a gas station got coffee on our way. After arriving we hiked a bit and upon reaching our destination a fire was started and delicious (wild) Salmon soup was made (in no time-) in front of a gorgeous body of water. The weather was perfect. The abundance of wild berries was delightful to see. The berry picking ended up being a side activity despite the title of the trip. Berries were everywhere but there’s much to enjoy so you end up enjoying the hike, the scene, the wild salmon (vegans were served a vegan choice). No corporate/impersonal feel either. I give a solid 10/10.
- lv4nevada00A beautiful way to enjoy the Archipelago on an easy hike.Jeff was an amazing guide. This is a 2 person travel company that does an amazing job. It was so nice to get out of the city and see this beautiful area. Very simple, easy hike with Jeff giving us info on the flora and fauna and answering any crazy questions we had. He prepared a delicious food using Finland’s finest ingredients. Taiga Times give you lots of bang for your buck and many beautiful options.
- jesuisjennifer00A Lovely day in the National parkIt was a lovely day trip combining hiking, camp fire lunch 🥙 and finished in a smoke sauna by the lake. 🪵🔥 I had such a great time. Jeff was a wonderful guide, kind, energetic and caring. It was really good to learnt about the plants and animals that lives in the forest on the way. 🫐🍓🦫🌳 Would definitely recommend to any nature lover. 🥾🥾
- Mary-Anne F00Excellent dayWe had a great day with Jeff and Kiia . Jeff was very knowledgeable about plants and fungi. And Kiia can tell you how they are used in Finnish cooking and culture. Even the semi poisonous ones. The hike was lovely; Forested and shady. The Food was very nice at lunchtime and cooked at the outdoor camp. Our Highlight was the swim in the lake and sauna .. everything was thought of by our guides - even towels and sliders for the sauna/ lake. The group size worked well - 6 guests. Was a very relaxed day and we enjoyed all of it. Thanks so much. We’d do one of the other trips with you if we had more time here. So interesting to have a day doing a proper Finnish leisure activity in the outdoors. We loved it !
- Kete51500Amazing excursion! This excursion was fantastic! Helena was an excellent guide and the group was a fun bunch. Highly recommend to anyone looking to get out into the fresh air :)
- Flyingboy5800Nice dayJeff was a nice guy. And he knew a ton about the country and the wildlife. The natural park was beautiful and the small town was great. It was a very low stress and enjoyable day. Highly recommend.

My family and I really enjoyed our trip with Jeff and Kiia to Liesjärvi national park! I was surprised that they both came along, but it worked out since we had a mixed group of English & Finnish speakers so everyone had someone to talk with.
The drive out to the park wasn't as bad as I expected. The scenery is fantastic, and with a pit stop for restrooms and coffee/snacks the journey flies by.
All of us enjoyed learning about the various plants and birds during the trek in the park. Jeff is very knowledgeable and knows most of the English and Finnish names for whatever we came across. We came across a handful of people while in the park (mostly overnight campers who were leaving), so it was quite peaceful.
The picnic site where we had lunch was great. There's plenty of space for those who like to wander and/or play in the woods to do so. The lake views from the shore are very serene.
The lunch prepared by Jeff and Kiia was amazing. The soup Jeff made was great, as was the pie that Kiia brought. They even took care of a few dietary details that I requested, which was awesome.
We got lucky with the weather, as we had clear skies and comfortable temperature (21/08/2022). Everyone in our group enjoyed this trip!

The day spent with Jeff at the national park was the highlight of our vacation. He is very savy of forest fauna and flora and we learned a whole lot about the beauty and importance of finnish nature. Also, he cooked a delicious meal in no time and the coffee was really strong but really tasty. We got blueberry pie as a bonus and were very sad to end the tour so soon (it was ab 7 hours long).

This was an incredible experience! We did this on our first full day in Finland and I don’t think we could have picked a better way to start our adventure. Jeff was a fabulous guide and was so knowledgeable about not only the flora and fauna of the forest, but also about Finnish culture. We felt truly immersed in a Finnish experience including the delicious Salmon Soup served lakeside! The hike was the perfect distance - my husband is quite fit, but I was 6 months pregnant and able to manage as it was pretty flat and the forest floor is so soft! Transportation and service is top notch. I would definitely look to book more adventures with Jeff and Taiga Times on our next trip to Helsinki!

Today, I went on a daytrip to Liesjärvi National Park. We were with a small and pleasant group. Jeff, our tourguide, knows what he's doing and he knows a lot about the forest. The forest is magical and I had an amazing time with mushroom hunting and exploring the forest. Nature has a lot of amazing things to offer. You just have to know where to look. Lunch made on a campfire with a view on a beautiful lake was a very enjoyable experience. Adding some toppings of your own food hunt is the little cherry on the top. Very highly recommended! Thanks for a wonderful day Jeff!

Cannot rate this excursion highly enough. Jeff was a excellent guide and warm host, offering unique insights into all the flora and fauna of the forest. The hike was very manageable, even in the rain. The soup, coffee, and blueberry cake prepared by Jeff topped off the journey through the woods. Did this as a day trip from Helsinki and it was the highlight of our entire trip. Truly 'magical' as described. Cheers to Taiga Times!

We booked the Magical Taiga Forest Hike.
This was such an incredible experience with Jeff at Taiga Times! Jeff was wonderful!! We were educated on so many varieties of mushrooms, picked blueberries the whole way, took some time to do a forest sound bath, got to eat the chanterelle mushrooms we picked (cooked over a fire), and had a delicious warm meal! They were even able to cater to my dietary preferences (vegan) and my husband's food allergy of fish.
Whenever I make my way back to Helsinki, I will 100% be booking another experience with them. Highly recommend!

It’s very relaxing & feeling refreshed to be in the wood. Our guide is friendly & full of passion with mushrooms. Every moment is enjoyable & feeling being care of.
The pick up point is easily accessible, car came on time & we left on time. Car ride is about 1.5 hours. We had 5 people that day. All lunch matters were well taken care. We had blueberries juice then creamy mushroom soup w rye bread & blue berries tea & sweet bun.

Trip was undertaken in mid April, as Finland is transitioning from Spring to Winter. Jeff demonstrated exceptional knowledge of the flora and fauna as well as having engaging stories about the history of the region. Very enjoyable experience which was a great value for the money. Would highly recommend.

Nice and quiet nature park Liesjarvi.
Comfortable trip in mini bus to the start of the hike. Guide/driver/cook Jeff gave us lots of information on trees, mushrooms, berries, the landscape etc.
On our way we picked hundreds of wild strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
After about one-and-half hour we reached a picknick place nearby a lake (of course).
Jeff served us a delicious mushroom (cantharel)soup, salmonsalad and ryebread, wich he all had carried in his backpack together with a stove, coffee, tea and cake.
On the way back we found fresh cantharels.
All together a nice experience .
Thanks a lot, Jeff and Kiia who made the soup.

Spent an enjoyable day in the forest with a knowledgeable and passionate guide. Jeff was great from every aspect that you can imagine. We learned so many things about the native flora and species of tress, berries and mushrooms. The forest was beautiful and magical with its carpet like moss and lichen. It was a great break from the hustle and bustle of the city and had a wonderful salmon soup lunch prepared over an open fire. Once again, thank you Jeff for a great day—hope the false morels were tasty
