Excellent trip to refresh the soul
Did this trip today . What can I say it totally lived up to all my expectations. Taigo tours were excellent and really took care of us throughout the whole trip , providing snow boots ( even though I had my own they advised they weren’t high enough ) the snow was deep , socks and a hiking stick . Great experience walking through the beautiful forest where they shared their knowledge of the local flora and fauna. We walked to a picnic site where they shared a beautifully prepared lunch of salmon soup and rye bread around a lovely toasty fire and a special cake . We hiked back via the frozen lake . The stillness and quietness of the forest was amazing. Get yourselves out of Helsinki and experience this amazing trip . Truly unforgettable experience and one I will remember for a long time . Great hosts , great day what more can I say

      Extremely relaxing day in nature
This was my favourite day on my trip to Helsinki and surrounding area. It was incredibly relaxing to hike in the forest, then experience the sauna and lake culture (sit in the sauna, dip in the lake, repeat). The lunch was tasty, and our guide was very friendly, fluent in English, and patient when I asked him loads of questions about Finnish nature and culture. The other guests were also very friendly and it was a great day out.

Perfect day in the snow, could not have asked for anything better!
It was simple a perfect day in every way. Walking through the snow at an easy pace, really tasty and warming home made lunch, highly recommended. Jeff our guide was excellent, telling us lots about the National Park as we walked through it. Loved it!!

A must do when visiting Helsinki in the winter
Was a truly magical day. It was snowing and we had lovely fresh snow to walk in. Our guide Helena was fantastic, so friendly and genuine. The lunch was yummy and warming and really loved the blueberry juice.

      A must do tour!
This tour is a must! The hike was spectacular, with amazing views and Jeff is very knowledgeable which made it also educational. The Finnish sauna is definitely worth doing and whilst the Lake was pretty cold in October you still have to give it a go. The food Jeff cooked on the hike was also great and quite filling. This was a great day out and I'd definitely recommend it. If we come back to Helsinki we'll be doing it again.

      Informative and fun mushroom hunt
I can highly recommend the tour with Taiga Times. Jeff is a very knowledgeable and pleasant guide who gave us a great introduction into the art of mushroom hunting. We had a lot of fun and found plenty of chanterelles and some other mushrooms with which Jeff prepared a tasty lunch. There were even mushrooms left that we could bring home for an omlette on the next day :)

      Must visit: great tour!
Jeff was an incredible story teller, easy to talk to, and made sure that we got the right exposure and experienced the nature in Helsinki beautifully. He was encouraging, witty and made sure everyone felt comfortable and involved. Thanks very much for a lifetime of memories. I recommend this trip wholeheartedly who loves nature or wants to connect with their inner selves.

      Extraordinary Experience
The grey, rainy day did not dampen the adventurous spirit of our group of eight from four different continents. Sturdy raincoats were available for all. Our hike through the forest identifying and gathering mushrooms was both delightful and informative. Jeff was incredibly knowledgeable about the flora and all the various mushrooms. Jeff actually cooked the mushrooms we gathered along with a hearty lunch. The sun broke through as we hiked back for the smoke sauna. The sauna was outrageously hot and the lake plunge outrageously cold but to our surprise absolutely exhilarating! We are in our 70’s and found the "National Park Hike & Finnish Smoke Sauna Experience with Campfire Lunch" extraordinary! Thank you Jeff and Kiia, Carpe Diem!

I had an absolute blast. Must do if you’re visiting Helsinki. The hike, foraging for mushrooms, the lunch, sauna, and swim were all amazing. I couldn’t have done this on my own. Our guide was knowledgeable and the group was fun. Thank you!!

Fantastic experience - you will not regret booking
I would give this tour 100 stars if that were an option. Our guide, Alex, was incredibly kind and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the forest. We found some mushrooms and had a delightful meal of mushrooms and salmon soup. I will absolutely book this tour again if we return to the Helsinki area.

I was travelling alone in Helsinki for few days and booked this tour so to get to visit at least one natural park and get some fresh air outside the city. I must say it was a great decision !
First, Jeff is a very prepared guide, attentive and friendly. He explained loads of stuff along the way about berries, trees, animals, mushrooms, and Finnish habits, so that I could learn more about Finnish nature and culture! He also provides you with some equipment if you need it and, just in case you have more time, he also organizes longer tours!
Second, the salmon soup he prepared was just so good. Since I did the tour in November, we ate it in the wooden house with the fireplace (very recomforting considering the cold and the rain), but in summer you will be able to taste it outside.
Third, I was travelling in November, it was raining A LOT and it was supposed to rain the whole day, nevertheless the tour was maintained which was great! Also, there were no other people, so I got an exclusive tour for myself :D
To conclude, if you are wondering whether it is worth to go in winter (even in November and without any snow), I can definitely tell you that the beauty of the Finnish forest is always worth a tour … I attach some pics to show you 😉

I recommend this tour if you want to spend a day in the nature and avoid the crowds of popular Nuuksio. The group is small and easy to follow. Jeff is an experienced guide and a pleasant companion, knowledgable in natures & cultures and tentative to everyone. Felt peaceful and content with his delicious soup and desserts, despite of the wet weather. Would love to do another tour with him next time, and probably hear him sing a song.

We had an awesome day in Liesjärvi National Park with our whole family and our dogs and of course super nice host couple Kia and Jeff.

The scenery was amazing, we enjoyed walking with our dogs and some of us even dared to take a dip in the lake.

The lunch Kia and Jeff made was delicious.

If you are wondering what to do with your family, friends or just by yourself, we all highly recomend to join trips that Kia and Jeff offers. You’re not gonna be dissapointed!

My family and I really enjoyed our trip with Jeff and Kiia to Liesjärvi national park! I was surprised that they both came along, but it worked out since we had a mixed group of English & Finnish speakers so everyone had someone to talk with.

The drive out to the park wasn't as bad as I expected. The scenery is fantastic, and with a pit stop for restrooms and coffee/snacks the journey flies by.

All of us enjoyed learning about the various plants and birds during the trek in the park. Jeff is very knowledgeable and knows most of the English and Finnish names for whatever we came across. We came across a handful of people while in the park (mostly overnight campers who were leaving), so it was quite peaceful.

The picnic site where we had lunch was great. There's plenty of space for those who like to wander and/or play in the woods to do so. The lake views from the shore are very serene.

The lunch prepared by Jeff and Kiia was amazing. The soup Jeff made was great, as was the pie that Kiia brought. They even took care of a few dietary details that I requested, which was awesome.

We got lucky with the weather, as we had clear skies and comfortable temperature (21/08/2022). Everyone in our group enjoyed this trip!

The day spent with Jeff at the national park was the highlight of our vacation. He is very savy of forest fauna and flora and we learned a whole lot about the beauty and importance of finnish nature. Also, he cooked a delicious meal in no time and the coffee was really strong but really tasty. We got blueberry pie as a bonus and were very sad to end the tour so soon (it was ab 7 hours long).

This was an incredible experience! We did this on our first full day in Finland and I don’t think we could have picked a better way to start our adventure. Jeff was a fabulous guide and was so knowledgeable about not only the flora and fauna of the forest, but also about Finnish culture. We felt truly immersed in a Finnish experience including the delicious Salmon Soup served lakeside! The hike was the perfect distance - my husband is quite fit, but I was 6 months pregnant and able to manage as it was pretty flat and the forest floor is so soft! Transportation and service is top notch. I would definitely look to book more adventures with Jeff and Taiga Times on our next trip to Helsinki!

Today, I went on a daytrip to Liesjärvi National Park. We were with a small and pleasant group. Jeff, our tourguide, knows what he's doing and he knows a lot about the forest. The forest is magical and I had an amazing time with mushroom hunting and exploring the forest. Nature has a lot of amazing things to offer. You just have to know where to look. Lunch made on a campfire with a view on a beautiful lake was a very enjoyable experience. Adding some toppings of your own food hunt is the little cherry on the top. Very highly recommended! Thanks for a wonderful day Jeff!

Cannot rate this excursion highly enough. Jeff was a excellent guide and warm host, offering unique insights into all the flora and fauna of the forest. The hike was very manageable, even in the rain. The soup, coffee, and blueberry cake prepared by Jeff topped off the journey through the woods. Did this as a day trip from Helsinki and it was the highlight of our entire trip. Truly 'magical' as described. Cheers to Taiga Times!

We booked the Magical Taiga Forest Hike.

This was such an incredible experience with Jeff at Taiga Times! Jeff was wonderful!! We were educated on so many varieties of mushrooms, picked blueberries the whole way, took some time to do a forest sound bath, got to eat the chanterelle mushrooms we picked (cooked over a fire), and had a delicious warm meal! They were even able to cater to my dietary preferences (vegan) and my husband's food allergy of fish.

Whenever I make my way back to Helsinki, I will 100% be booking another experience with them. Highly recommend!

It’s very relaxing & feeling refreshed to be in the wood. Our guide is friendly & full of passion with mushrooms. Every moment is enjoyable & feeling being care of.

The pick up point is easily accessible, car came on time & we left on time. Car ride is about 1.5 hours. We had 5 people that day. All lunch matters were well taken care. We had blueberries juice then creamy mushroom soup w rye bread & blue berries tea & sweet bun.
