Definitely a cheap and cheerful way to cross the sea between Helsinki and Tallinn. Good customer service I must say: we had a cancellation and they compensated it promptly (although they were not exactly proactive in this, I had to contact them first via chat and email).
Their ships might be a bit kitsch in a way, with rip-off prices whatever you buy, but at the end of the day they offer a good and fairly reliable service. The diffeence between the Megastar and the Star is big. The Megastar is quieter, with more seats and more things to do. Choose the Megastar only if you can.

Impressive all around ... MegaStar is a very nice ferry with many good options for where to sit, eat, drink ... boarded, left and arrived on-time in both directions. Good value for money including the dinner buffet ... even if the food was a bit bland, it was more than edible and there were many options. Booking and check-in very easy especially if use the app for the latter.

We booked a return ferry day trip to Tallinn, Estonia and didn't book a room or businesss lounge access. Upon boarding in the wee hours of the morning there were plenty of vacant seating areas.
For those travelling without booked seats/room/business lounge access like us, the only available seating areas were either at the cafes, Burger King restaurant or the common bar/lounge areas.
On board facilities that are accessible for normal ticket holders include a shop (think duty-free at ariports), cafeteria with salads and sandwhiches, bar/lounge with slot machines, Burger King fastfood and a kids play area and obviously outdoor deck towards the rear or stern of the cruise ship. Room booking holders have access to aforemention and their room and business access holders can access another lounge with buffet in addition to all the above.
On the return trip (late afternoon), the late-boarders onto the ship didn't have any seats and resorted to sitting in hallways or standnig for their journey.
The cruise was comfortable and definitely recommend for crossing the Baltic.

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to leave a negative review on any platform. I was travelling from Helsinki to Tallin (return) and experienced a service that was more interested in exploiting customers than helping them.
We arrived at 7:11am for a 7:30am ferry to be told at the gate that they will not let me through because I missed the check in time by 1 minute (we can still see people boarding and the ship did not leave until 7:30am).
We still wanted to go to Tallin, so I spoke with the customer service team and asked if we could go onto the next ferry with Tallink, given we had a return trip booked coming back later that night. They said they couldn't put me on the next ship and the staff recommended I book a one-way ticket on the competing Eckero line, which we did.
We get to Tallin and enjoy the day there, however upon returning to the ferry to return to Helsinki, Tallink will not let me on my originally booked return leg, they have said because I did not get on the first ferry, I forfeited my return ticket (a ticket I had already paid for). They then ask me to repurchase the seats I had already paid for at an enormous surcharge cost.
The frustration here is that a ‘50 Euro Day’ trip turn into a ‘200 Euro’ day trip. I felt manipulated by the staff at Tallink because they directed me to purchase a way ticket after I had told them I had the return trip later that night, there was no mention that my return leg was cancelled. Had that been communicated, I would not have gone on this trip at all. Instead, I was stuck in a foreign city with no other options to get back home to by accommodation.
I reached out to their customer service department over the next few weeks who saw nothing wrong with the situation. I understand missing the first leg and forfeiting that ticket however to be not be refunded for one of the return tickets I paid for to return to Helsinki is hard to comprehend. They made me purchase the same seat on the same ferry twice and saw no problem with this.
Avoid this company, they are money grabbing and not customer centric. Recommend you book with the Eckero line if you look to go from Helsinki to Tallin.

We took Lounge for our cruise to Tallinn and back to Helsinki. This should be nice and quiet place with some food and snacs. Quiet it was not! Loud kids crying, screaming and hanging out on sofas with food on their hands.. I wonder who might be the next one sitting there and defenetly gets food stain to their clothes. Also, the food was quite poor. Two kind of bread with butter and two kind of cheese and two kind of cold meat for the bread. Cauliflower, cucumber, tomato and carrot. Nachos and salsa. Some biscuits and some nuts. Alcohol doesn't include (like in some other company cruises it does) I dont recommend this. Don't pay 25-29€ extra for Lounge in Tallink Silja cruises it is not worth it!

We used this shuttle to travel between Helsinki and Tallinn and it was lovely. This 2 hour trip to travel between these two cities was well worth the price. We chose the early morning 7:30 departure and the later evening 19:30 return trip to Helsinki. Getting on the boat went very smoothly. We really enjoy the time we spent in Tallinn, so I would definitely recommend this shuttle.

We took a trip from Helsinki to Tallinn and retun on a Sunday. The trip over was very pleasant and enjoyable. The retun trip to Helsinki on Sunday evening was a different story. It seemed like half of Estonia was travelling to Helsink, perhaps for work. Before too long people were filling up on alcohol purchased from the tax free shop on board - quite the reason to travel apparently. The ship was pretty well full and smelt like beer, smokes and sweaty men. Would travel agai but probably avoid Sunday and Friday nights.

We took the Tallink Star, for a day trip to Tallinn from Helsinki. Booked online, the previous day, with the help of the staff at our Helsinki hotel. We took the first ferry in the morning, I think it left Helsinki around 7am. We took the breakfast option, on the advice of our hotel front desk staff. Two advantages: lovely food, and comfortable seats in the front of the ship, with good views of Helsinki as we depart, and of Tallinn as we arrive. Smooth, comfortable journey. Returned around 6pm or so (it was just a day trip to Tallinn) Absolutely no problems whatsoever, I would strongly recommend this method of travel between Helsinki and Tallinn. The terminal is well connected by tram services to other parts of Helsinki. In Tallinn, it is only a fifteen minute walk to the walled city centre. Take your passports! After all, you are going to a different country!

Very pleasant ferry trip . A first of its kind trip for us. The sights from the top deck was a great experience . The Bus we were travelling in,just got on to the ferry with all our luggage at Helsinki. We boarded the Ferry and had a pleasant 2 hours on board . Examining the different decks and what it had to offer. The Starbucks coffee was good. The shopping for trinkets experience was also good. The scenery from the top deck was also good. At the end of the journey we just got off the ferry and in a short while the bus with all our luggage also came out of the ferry and we just got in drove off. Thanks Megastar

The Tallink Megastar is hands-down the best way to get from Helsinki to Talliinn. A brand-new ship, the Megastar is more like a floating mall than a ship, with a huge duty free shop and heaps of activities and restaurants. Stump up a few more bucks for either the Comfort Lounge or the Business Lounge- these make travelling (especially in peak times) much more pleasant.

Can we buy 7.30 am onward and 7.30 pm return? How far is Port from Airport?

There are basically 3 liners providing the service. Each has online timetables so it is easy to organise a time to suit. Some say that it is slightly cheaper to purchase tickets on line or in Helsinki, however there are ticket offices at the terminal. Certainly cheaper to purchase a return ticket. Try to be at the terminal about 30 minutes prior to departure. The journey each way is approximately 2 hours. These ships are large with usually 3 levels for customers, including dinning, pups, cafes etc, so don't worry about missing out on a trip, as seats are always vacant
Helsinki is about 30 minutes from the Airport, if you find the Taxi Stand within the airport, it cost 29 Euro for a couple, to your hotel, so it may be a bit extra to get to the terminals as they are about 15 minutes south of central Helsinki, or get the airport taxi to the city and then get a local taxi to the harbor.
With the local taxis don't fall into the trap of a fixed price ride as it is usually a rip off, compared to a metered ride. This is especially true if you get a cap from Tallinn harbor to your hotel
Demand that the meter is used or get out and get another taxi, we got charger a fixed price of 30 Euro which only cost us about 10 euro when we left our hotel to go back to the Tallinn Harbour
