      Worth the upfront cost
The Helsinki Card is definitely worth the cost. All travel from the airport and around the city was included as well as the ferry to Suomenlinna. All major attractions were included too so if you are spending a few days discovering the delights of the city, this is a very cost effective way to explore.

Helsinki Card City 48 hour is good value
Helsinki Card City 48 hour card Purchased 48hour cards before arrival in Helsinki airport. The printed voucher is exchanged for the hard copy cards at the excess baggage / storage booth as you exit the arrivals Hall (not the baggage reclaim area). The booth is a few metres from the escalator to the train platforms. The cards cost €132 and we validated them next morning. If you use the hop on hop off bus and take a city cruise together with a visit to the 'Rock Church' and maybe a museum via tram / bus, you more than get the value of the cards in two days.

      Helpful customer service
We were not able to attend the tour and had to cancel after the 24-hour refund mark. The staff were very polite and helpful offering other dates but we were not able to reschedule.

      A good value for Helsinki
City cards are a mixed bag, but we really used the Helsinki card. The city's trams and buses are free with the card, and we found the system easy to use. The only hard part was finding the tram stops, but the people in Helsinki are fantastic. Two ladies at two separate times actually walked us to the stop!

      Informative tour
This is a great way to see Helsinki. You get to sail through the archipelago and you even get to see some ice-breakers on the way back and they have a little cafe inside too. The tour was really informative and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

      Informative and lovely
Interesting tour outside of the main city of Helsinki and a good range of information about history and neighbourhoods. Highly recommended. (Bring a hat and wear suncream if you're doing it in summer - there's no shade unless you go down into the cabin area, and the best view is from the deck.)

Nice view of the town from the water
The boat offers two tours. One coded blue which is more focused on the city and the red one which goes a bit farther around the island. We chose the blue one. The boat has seating below and on the upper deck. There is a cafetaria for drinks and snacks. The tour takes you around the southern part of Helsinki and some islands in about one and a half hour. Their is an explanation in Finnish, English, German and Swedish. You get a good impression of this point of view of the city. The ride is included in the Helsinki card.

      Well worth it!
We decided to make the tour in spite of the rainy weather, but it was worth it. On the top deck it was freezong cold but it is the best place to take pictures.

      The Helsinki Card was Great!
The Helsinki card was very helpful! We used it for transportation, entrance to various places like the Rock Church, a sightseeing boat ride around the bay for several hours and other things. It made it really convenient - just read to see all the things you can do and then go explore!

      Refund
I bought a helsinki card for June 25 for 48 hours but I didn’t use it and asked for refund and they accepted my request and gave my money back. The reason for not using the card was that I thought I can activate it anytime and it is valid for 48 hours after activation. But it seems that on June 27 it was expired even without using it.

      Worthwhile
Very handy, lots of free or discounted admissions.. I booked mine 3 weeks in advance but maybe don’t do that as the weather was windy and rainy and therefore some things I wanted to do like the fortress I opted not to do due to unfavourable weather - I feel I could’ve got more value for money with a shorter period than what i used mine for but each to their own schedule.

Beautiful scenery...too bad we can't hear a word the guide is saying. Speakers sparse in the downstairs and, since it is raining, can't go up top. I wish I had followed my instincts and had gone back to the hotel for a nap. I don't recommend unless the weather is stellar

My hotel was close to the dock so finding the ship was very easy-large yellow banners. It's a typical two story boat, with an enclosed lower area and open upper deck. The narration is done on loudspeakers in multiple languages, fairly easy to hear on upper deck. There's a fair amount of snacks available for purchaes too (coffee, soads, ice, cream, etc.) It was as described in other reviews, nice leisurely ride around Helsinki, mostly along coast but eventually a canal or two. If it's chilly, definitely try to grab a blanket on your way to upper deck before they are all gone. There was a sign for free wifi, but I was not able to find/connect to the network. There is also QR code that takes you to webpage that has the route and the same information that is shared via loudspeakers. Definitely worth it, especially if you want to take break from walking or buses. Good value for money.

Really cool sightseeing of passing by the islands. Informative recording on loud speakers. They provide blankets for when it gets cold and you want to be on the outside roof of the boat. They also have a small cafe onboard. Maybe we would’ve liked the one that stops and gets off at the zoo more. And also a live tour guide instead. Oh well, still pretty fun wrap around

What a beautiful way to spend 1.5 hours on the sea!

It was a lovely trip and it left you wanting more! It's a very intimate route and it's great to be so close to the islands.

The route took me past where I live and it was great to see it from the otherside for a change.

Audio is good. The upper and lower decks are both nice. I'd recommend the lower deck if you're not keen on the wind. The bar/cafe is a tad expensive but thats the only downside I can think of.

Thank you for your nice review and the tips for other visitors. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed this cruise in the beautiful Helsinki archipelago. I agree it's really nice that with our boats you're able to be close to the islands and really see what's out there. Welcome back :)! Kind regards, Essi/ Stromma Finland

    A must-do in Helsinki!
This tour boat does a very interesting tour around the bay, weaving around dozens of the 300 islands. Informative and unobtrusive commentary in English, just right, never too much. Very friendly staff.

A good way to spend a couple of hours.
    Good value.
It was a warm sunny day for us to enjoy the views and the audio guide.

If you stop for a food in the Market at the harbour be very aware of the thieves…the Seagulls! They will literally take the food from you mouth if you drop your guard for a second!

This was an enjoyable experience. It's a low-key tour, and doesn't look anything like the image portrayed. It's a small boat but not tiny. If the temperatures outside are cool at all, it'll be much colder once moving along the water, so bring blankets and scarves to bundle up.

There was plenty of seating, and a few snacks and drinks available on board, but don't think you can have lunch, they are just prepackaged snacks and hot dogs.

There was light commentary in different languages, as well as a paper map and online app that can be used to follow along the route.

I would do it again for the fact that it was easy and relaxing.

Reasonably good boat tour around the canals, and islands, near Helsinki harbour. Free with the Helsinki Card. Not worth paying for it separately. No headphones, and the audio is not very good. BUT.... there are many beautiful spots to take photos. Unfortunately for us, it was a gloomy day, and we took the last tour of the day. May be much better in bright sunlight! Finding the spot where you take the tour is not easy, it is better you get some guidance from your hotel front desk. Get clear directions. If you are lost, ask someone. Everyone in Helsinki knows English and the people are really helpful!

Really disappointed with this cruise and when it came to the canal it was very brief. I have taken other river and waterway cruises and glad I didn't take this one first. Also travelling with my teen and I think he contemplated jumping from the boat a number of times. He found this really boring, unlike other cruises taken on our trip. Shame the tour was recorded too and could have been more personable for the cost.

Hi, Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you found the 1,5 hours on the boat dissapointing and boring. The main attraction on the Beautiful Canal cruise is the sea, archipelago and beautiful nature of eastern parts of Helsinki. Degerö canal is a short and very narrow one, and the only canal on the route. I hope you anyway liked Helsinki, and found other things that were more interesting to you. Kind regards, Soile Stromma Finland

The tour was interesting with commentary of history and Finnish life styles. The landscapes and scenery of the islands was beautiful. However it was September & the weather was a bit cold & windy but with the right clothing, it is ok. I enjoyed it very much.
