About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- shivanimalik0 contributionsRude guidesThe staff was very rude and highly unaccomodating. There are many companies in rovaniemi where the guides are extremely friendly and helpful . We were actually getting scared to go as they were extremely rude . Please this tour is an available with many tour operators with much better guides !Written 9 January 2025
- leanne g0 contributionsDon't use this companyI cancelled with plenty of time due to lack of snow , still charged and a huge battle to get my money back . Would not use this company again ,would not recommend. Avoid !!Written 4 January 2025
- Vacation040682926420 contributionsDisgusting organizationDisgusting organization! First we just sat and waited for 50 minutes in the bus for something incomprehensible. Then we arrived at the place, it was very cold. A minute of skating (by the way, there are no questions about the skating, but this is not your merit, but the merit of the farm) and then we just waited for 2 hours!!! So that they would bring us not to the center, from where we were picked up, but to the village of Santa Claus! Where you have to wait 1 hour for another bus! I do not recommend! Disgusting organization. We do not want to wait another hour, we want to go home, we are frozen. Why can't you take us to the center right away? We spent the whole day on the trip, instead of 3 hoursWritten 3 January 2025
- MoiRenee0 contributionsBeautiful surroundings, fantastic tour.A truly incredible experience to drive snowmobiles through the snowy forest. The scenery was amazing. The guided was great at going at a nice pace so it was fast enough but not too fast. Guide was also great at keeping the group together. It was a small group (4 snowmobiles total) which I appreciated. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that the area where you get the rental clothing is very crowded and a bit compact. Also, we had a rental car so would have loved to meet directly on site, but instead we had to meet at Santa Claus Village and then take a shuttle to a different location for the warm clothes. Would have loved to just meet at the second location. The young kids are pulled in a sled behind the guide and their sled is not covered (some companies do do have it covered). Pro of it being covered is the kids will be warmer. Con of it being covered is that they wouldn’t see as much. Would highly recommend!Written 31 December 2024
- Travel442244400880 contributionsFamily snowmobile safariWe decided to book the family safari experience and really glad we did, we had an amazing time. 2 adults, 3 young children aged 8, 6 and 2. After a short drive in the mini bus we arrived at the office where we were kitted out with everything we needed for our comfort and safety, the staff were all really friendly and helpful. The children are seated on a sled which is pulled by a member of staff driving a snowmobile and they are provided with warm blankets. The adults drive our own snowmobile or can sit in the sled with the children. After, we drove back the Santa Claus village on the minibus, here the children had a go driving small snowmobiles around a magically lit track, which they loved! Great little track and 10 minutes was plenty of time for our kids. Would definitely recommend and do it again.Written 25 December 2024
- Kaylz420 contributionsAvoid - totally disappointed/waste of moneyI was extremely disappointed with this activity, it was totally disorganised from start to finish. The website says this will last approximately 1.5hours but our experience took around 3.5hours, which was a disgrace. We had two small children with us and we purposely picked an activity which would not take more than a couple of hours. We spent most of this time waiting. The male staff at your facility were very rude, one man was shouting at a colleague in front of everyone and pushed passed my daughter almost knocking her off her feet at one point - she is only 5. There was one group trying to leave, one group coming back, everyone pushing past everyone else, no one knew what to do, where to go, it was chaos. I have never experienced such a shambles. We paid good money to do this trip and left totally tired out and disappointed. There was a total disregard for customer service and I feel all you are interested in was getting as much people and money in as possible with no effort with the customers.Written 24 December 2024
- Jeremy A0 contributionsSnowmobile tour close to santa villageThe team at snowmobile safari were very welcoming and professional. The snowmobiles are easy to operate even if you have never riden one before. Thanks for a great experience.Written 19 December 2024
- beverleybU5556DZ0 contributionsThe most magnificent day! What an absolutely magnificent day!!! We booked the ice fishing and snowmobile combo, unfortunately it was affected by the weather as the lake was not frozen enough for us to take the snowmobile on but that didn’t stop us having the most amazing day!!!! Our tour guide, Jack was an exceptional host for the day! He was welcoming, engaging and humorous! Particularly with our 8 year old son. We drove out to the lake and were given instruction and assistance for our fishing. Jack was so attentive and spent time with our family to personalise our experience…. Our son was captivated by him and his knowledge and loved being shown how to handle his fish, meanwhile our 6 year old daughter was kept entertained with a shared love of Taylor Swift and warm fires!!! We shared lunch by the fire, cooking our catches before heading to the forest for our snow mobile experience! It wasn’t the experience we anticipated - it was better!!! We had longer on the snowmobiles, we felt safe and had lots of fun! Our 6 year old daughter was so comfortable in the in the back of the sled that she fell asleep for a little while before waking up in the middle of the forest to the most beautiful scenery!! This trip was the highlight of our time in Rovaniemi, made all the more memorable by our guide, Jack! We cannot thank him enough. We can’t wait to come back and do it all again!!!!!Written 19 December 2024
- 417carolg0 contributionsI'm quite disappointed after working hard to have the dream holiday.Arrived at the village, and unable to gain entry to the snowman world and asking for payment. Unable to gain entry to see santa as only available slot was 15.30 and pick up was 15.00hrs. Spent the first couple of hours stressed and trying to sort and contact the guide. My daughter was in tears.Written 19 December 2024
- _farzeenpal0 contributionsJust a tick mark.... no real experience provided, only transportDo not recommend this tour as the company takes you on a large bus to 2 spots which are just 15min from the city center ...not in a secluded area. There are no guides ... just ushers who accompany the bus... The first stop was near some lake where you wait for 20min and then they hurry to the bus to take you to the raindeer and husky farm which is all lit up ... they light a fire, give you marshmellows .. wait another 20mins and then we are off. Recommend you pick a small group provite tour, where the guides explain stuff and they are interested and make an effort for people to see the northern lights. Also a better way to see and experience the northern lights is to book on the glass igloos ... thats where we saw the lightsWritten 7 December 2024
- _farzeenpal0 contributionsA big mis-sell and cheating.. no profession guided tour provided although committed. Just a very expensive transportThe company missold the trip ... it was just transport and zoo ticket. Guided tour with a professional was communicated in the marketing brochure but the so called 'guides' were just there to count the number of passengers. when asked they mentioned they were not zooologists and to just read the signage. Very disappointing experience.Written 7 December 2024

- 110gpp0 contributionsto improve!I would not let my children do the Elf Hat Academy experience again. You come from far away, you participate once in your life and that time and the choice of an activity that will become a brick of memory have enormous value. 30 minutes in reality were maybe 20 in which you eat a cookie and a hat is given in the general acting. Half arrived at the meeting point late (lots of people not expected, we understand but they also finished earlier), everyone smiley and nice of course but I just want to be honest and not worth the money I would say. In short, a disappointing experience, for a family that loves Christmas, the spirit and magic of the Christmas season and who had already come 15 years ago, without children and dreamed this experience. Review with the aim of saving the season for you, which I hope will help the quality of the service. we will come back for sure because after all we loved Finland, its people and the way you rules it!Written 4 November 2024
- fakeyf20240 contributionsAnything but interactiveWe paid 40e per peson for literally 20mins of simple cookie decorations in complete silence (luckily the radio was on all the time). The elf maybe said 5 sentences in total while glancing at the script at the begining and taught us 5 words in finnish (that we already knew, my kids are Finnish). There was no dancing, no singing at all. At the end of the cookie decoration she gave us simple elf hats and blank diplomas, so we can write our names and take them home... Definitely do not recommend.Written 28 October 2024

We enjoy visiting the Raitola Reindeer and Husky Farm where we could take pictures and feed them. Going around the reindeer-drawn carriage is also interesting. Then we get an explanation about reindeer life while enjoying warm drinks and cinnamon in the hut. After that we walked about 200 m to the husky farm and we rode in a cart pulled by several huskies. This experience is more interesting than the reindeer sled as the huskies run pretty fast and the reindeers just go slower. After that we visited Santa Claus Village for about 2 hours and then we were driven back to the inn.
Anyway, we expected a private tour as mention in the information when we book this trip. But the fact is only the transport was private. During the visit in reindeer and husky farm we joined with other group so we had to queue for a moment. The visit in Santa Claus Village sould be 3 hours and it became 2 hours because we spent more time to queue when doing activity in the farm. The guide also changed several times so we must focus on who should we follow in each activity.

We had a terrific day today under the guidance of Tia, our engaging and helpful guide. Timely pick up at our city hotel; significant time with the reindeer before a fun 1/2 km ride with one then a useful brief on all things reindeer ( served with berry tea and pastries) then onto the husky ride. Our driver was very informative as she mushed us around the course. Some time with the dogs and sledding before returning for ample time at the Santa village before the transfer home.
Frankly the only disappointment was behaviour of other tourists lacking in self-awareness. They were late for safety briefings ( and made us all wait) then ignored them to wander off for more photos then tried to queue jump the orderly loading of the sleds etc. and tended to ignore all guidance of those trying to help. Very annoying.

We were worried after reading some of the December reviews but honestly the whole day was wonderful. The equipment stop to allow people to borrow overalls (highly recommend) was 20 minutes. The guides and staff at the farm were friendly and knowledgeable, the 2 coach loads were split into 3 groups and there wasn't much waiting at all. The husky ride was a quick circuit but the guides took photos for you and we could pet the dogs afterwards and ask questions. The reindeer ride was lovely and again, staff were chatty and took photos for us all. The reindeer story telling was in a warm hut and we were served hot fruit juice and ginger biscuits, the reindeer story was interesting and we learned about other animals in the area. We had the opportunity to eat at the on site restaurant but we chose to wait until we got to Santa Claus village as it was a little pricey. The bus then took us to Santa Claus village with a quick stop to return overalls before hand. We all had a wonderful day, big thanks to the guides for making it so.

Our wonderful tour guide Thea picked us up at the city office which was in the centre of Rovanemi and very easy to find. Thea was very informative and friendly, giving us information about the area and showing us different locations as we passed them on the road. We were taken in a 9 seater bus to the farm where we did the reindeer and husky rides. The farm and animals were great, I have children aged from 7-19 and the experience was enjoyed by all. We were then taken to the santa village for 2 hours but our wait to see Santa was going to be about 2.5 hours so we returned on the city bus which did not cost too much. Santa village is a beautiful place with shops and restaurant. The whole experience was really good and I would recommend

We were very excited for our trip, however upon arriving it was very clear that they had completely over booked and tried to cram as many people in as they could. There was 86 people trying to go between the reindeers and huskeys all at the same time. Organisation was terrible leaving us with small children waiting for way too long in the freezing cold. The guides were all getting frustrated and it spoilt our experience, especially when one of the guides started swearing as he got annoyed about people queue jumping and other guides not communicating. When we finally got our turn on the huskeys the ride was 51 seconds long (we know this as I recorded the whole thing) and the reindeer sledge ride was not much longer. All in all very disappointed and ÂŁ1000 for all 9 of us to go was an incredible waste of money.

Seeing the dogs and reindeer was fun, but it was not worth the time and money. The dog sledding was 1 minute! The reindeer walked very slowly and were led by a rope. Was not very magical. At the end you’re herded into a building to pay 25 euros for a bowl of soup. Most of the time was spent waiting for people to rent and return winter clothes. I guess some people don’t plan on it being cold in Finland in December? So the rest of us were so hot waiting in the bus in our gear. Also, when we finally got to Santa’s village, Santa was no longer seeing kids. Colossal disappointment for us. Would not recommend or do this again.

It's not worth the money. We got picked up at the city center and took a bus to another location for people to get gear and suites if they wanted, which took forever bc it was a tour of 100 people. The reindeer re part wild, so you can't pet them, and the sled ride are 6 of them tied together, so you are on top or each other. The dog sledding was less than a minute, and one loop. You can pet the dogs attached to the sled. The hut with hot berry juice and cookies to learn about reindeer was ok, but honestly, it's just a time filler. After all that, we went back to the place for people to return the gear and then finally went to Santa Village. We booked bc we have lottle kids and tried to get as much in on our short stay as possible, but if you have time to do things separately, you probably get a better quality experience

We booked this excursion because it included both reindeer and husky in the same tour.
We do not recommend this excursion as the group was massive, and the waiting time between activities was excessively long (which, in sub-zero temperatures, is highly uncomfortable). The contact with the reindeer and huskies was limited to just 5 minutes each!
The company needs to understand that profitability cannot be the sole objective. An excursion with three full buses visiting this farm made the activities impossible and unpleasant.
However, we would like to highlight the outstanding kindness of the guides (especially Vinicius and Anabela), who did everything they could to minimize the discomfort throughout the excursion.

We went in September when you don’t get to do the sleigh/sled rides (so it was a little pricey without them)
However, our guide Egor was very accommodating and enjoyable and gave us a few very good tips about things to experience during our visits.
Highly recommend for the ease of access at the stops and having him get you to the best places at the best times.

The reindeer ride was good and the guide then talked us through information on the reindeers and their habitat. Very informative. The husky bit however not so great. There was too many people all squeezed into the trip which meant people had to share sleds with others, which wasn’t specified on the booking. It was annoying as I was so excited about the trip to be sat towards the back not really getting the view of the ride. Plus it meant with such a big group you were waiting for ages in the cold. Also as we were at the end of the queue the husky’s look knackered. I think If you are happy to stand around for a long period of time and if you are in a group it’s not so bad as you can all go together but personally I would book a separate ride next time to get a better experience! Would I recommend to friends? The reindeer bit yes. Not the husky part I don’t think it’s worth the money! Free time in Santa Claus village good & pick up and transfer ok.

Dear Abby,
Thank you for your review! We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We try to divide the groups in such a way that the waiting times are as short as possible, but in high season the waiting times can still sometimes be longer than expected. During the waiting time, we try to offer something for the younger ones, such as sledging. We are always trying to develop our activities so we appreciate your honest feedback.
Kindly, The SMP team
