#10 of 98 Outdoor Activities in Rovaniemi
- 393AndrewD00What a magnificent experienceA fantastic night thanks to Romain & Diana. Shared plenty of information and made suer we experienced the lights in al their magnificence.
- RaresNicolae00Great day tour, we recommend this.Awesome way to spend a day at North Pole. We really enjoy all the activities and definitely we recommend this. Is a must if you arrive there. Thank you for great memories.
- jorgefR3424KX00Best experienceThanks for all the group, Mikel, Matías, Romain, Beatriz, Sergio, Diana and Peter , was a meravellous travel in Rovaniemi
- LokiW12300Good guideBooked through the chat on their website a few hours before the tour starts, they are responsive but forgot to mention that the tour that I was interested in was not offered until when I saw the price difference on the payment link. Also, they didn’t inform me when they changed the pick-up time until I contacted through the chat on the website and WhatsApp. Anyway, the guide, Romain did pick me though a little late. Romain was friendly and nice in explanations, appreciated the effort he made in getting the camera settings. Though we didn’t see the visible northern lights, Romain managed to capture them in the picture.
- danijelm202000Unique experienceDiana and Cevikkan gave me and the rest of the group an unforgettable night. We were very lucky that night of August 26th 2023 to experience the magical dancecof the Northern Lights. Everything was very well organised. Both of the knew exactly where to drive out to see the the lights but still it require lots of luck. They took beautiful pictures along the way. Afterwards we had a delicious barbecue around a campfire with reindeer sausages and marshmallows. They provided us with many information on Lappish people and their culture but also with life in Lapland in general. Thank you so much Diana and Cevikkan for that unique experience I will never forget. Will recommend you to everyone.
- Lostsoul9200Some very Unique experiencesWe did the Snowshoe Adventure and the Ice Float Experience, both of which were highly enjoyable. The Snowshoe experience was a beautiful walk through a snow covered forest, our guide was a great instructor of how to use the shoes, and was very knowledgeable about the trees and wildlife in the forest. During the tour we also got to stop for some yummy reindeer sausages cooked over a fire. The Ice Float Experience came recommended to us and we are so glad that we did it, probably one of the most unique experiences of our whole trip. To be able to float in a frozen lake under a gorgeous night sky is an in credible thing. Unfortunately we didn't see the lights due to cloud cover and some light snow, but we can imagine how incredible it would be to see them like that. They cut a hole in the lake just for the floating area so it's almost impossible to float away, and they give you a full dry suit. We could still feel the cold of the water but not uncomfortably so, and adding some additional layers under the suit would fix that, and we could still stay out in the water for about 45 minutes. A very simple activity but one of the highlights of our trip. The office was very easy to find and located almost in the middle of Rovaniemi, however was quite small so could get crowded immediately prior to the tours departing and we were encouraged to wait outside until the tour began which could be unpleasant if it was not god weather. Very friendly staff and well organised.
- Drob_737300Well worth the timeWe did the Ranua Zoo trip with Christian. The ride to the zoo is around an hour (on good roads in late summer, may be longer in winter), and another hour back, so be prepared for that. The Zoo is great, some beautiful large enclosures and many fascinating animals. We spent 3 hours at the zoo, it's a lot if walking, but that was fine with us. Our trip, in the quiet season, meant we had the zoo almost to ourselves, which was amazing. Very peaceful and enjoyable.
- allisonw4800Great time in LaplandOur group spent 7 days in Lapland in the summer and we had a great experience. Our guide Matthias was the best. He was patient, kind and knowledgeable. He made our experience grand.
- daviddM7358WF00ATV ride under the Midnight sunWe’ve been on an ATV tour with Zoé and Sabrina who were our tour guides. They were both very friendly and professional. It was an amazing and thrilling experience!
- Ignatiustravels00(Updated review) It's ok to not have the lights during the night but make an effort to make up for itPerhaps the word "hunting' is a little misleading as it was simply a tour of picking you up from your hotel and brining you further up north away from the city lights then stop at an area with a few tentages and hopefully the northern lights appear. Unfortunately on the night of mine tour the lights did not appear which was disappointing but the worst was the lack of spaces in the tentages for the Lappish barbeque, the place was really freezing and the lacing of seating space around the fire makes it worst. Maybe they might have overbooked themselves for that night, I'm not sure because the bbq itself there was a lack of food for everyone around too. Thus to round up the experience, it was a pick up from my hotel, enjoy the freezing cold for 2 hours (reduce the travelling time of 1 hr in the bus for the return trip), share some corn and sausages because of the lack of food and then drop us off back later afetr no lights shown up. A little suggestion would be to at least maybe prepare some backup food items, not overbook the tour, have the guides tell some stories in the tentages, share meaningful experiences or maybe increase the tour price and bring people to actually go hunting for the lights elsewhere instead of being in 1 place. Lastly, the set off point of the tour was from their office after they pick you up at your accommodation and we were rudely informed by the stuff we are not able to rent or borrow their additional winter overalls for this tour. Believe there are other smaller tours that will bring you go the actual light hunting otherwise it is recommended you should only pick this tour if you are felling very very very lucky! Updated review – 25 May 2023 After the previous review, the management contacted me, and I must commend them for their efforts in service recovery. They acknowledged the shortcomings mentioned and assured me that they will closely monitor bookings in the future. For those reading this review, please consider it as a constructive suggestion for their improvement. A mutual agreement has been reached and this demonstrates their appreciation for customer feedback, and hopefully, future travelers will not encounter a similar situation. Cheers!
- ninamU7535NG00Santa Claus Village - a Christmas DreamIt was just as we had imagined. There were Christmas decorations everywhere and the staff were dressed as elves. Anaïs was great. She showed us everything, we could ask many questions and everything was answered. Highly recommended. In May are no tourist so we had more or less the whole village to ourselves. Santa Claus took his time and we are allowed to talk to him. Unfortunately, the reindeer were not there. They were released into the wild.
- KaotikaKaos00Amazing experienceWe did a couple of excursions with them (northern lights photography tour and snowmobile safary) and we enjoyed a lot. The guides are very friendly and the tours are amazing. Special mention to Romain, from the northern lights photograpy tour (dank je wel, Romain!).
- 749bridgetf00Northern Lights tour and campfireOne of the best experiences in my life! The tour guides were so friendly and TRULY cared about giving us the best experience. They made sure we not only saw the northern lights and were able to take photos, but most importantly, they made sure we had fun! The campfire and barbecue was almost as amazing as seeing the northern lights. I could not recommend this tour more!
- yeewaregina00Best photographer RomainSophisticated photographer Romain. Unforgettable BBQ experience. Best tour ever. It’s the best tour with the best photographer and tour guide Romain. He is super nice and funny. He drove to a great place with clear sky for us to wait for the northern lights, while we were waiting, he made us to have fire with BBQ sausages & marshmallows. He kept checking the northern lights to make sure we caught it. With his best and experienced photography skills, we waited for hours and finally we saw it and he managed to take a lot of good shots for us. So glad we have him in this trip. He is the best!
- tyro-go00Incredible snowmobile and ice fishing tour in RovaniemiI would highly recommend this snowmobile and ice fishing tour to anyone visiting Rovaniemi. Our guide was not only knowledgeable and fun, but also made the entire experience unforgettable with the breathtaking scenery and exhilarating ride through the beautiful Finnish wilderness.

When we arrived at the departure location, we were advised there were no toilet facilities in the departure location so the desk advised that should you need to go, to use facilities in the shopping mail, some 10 minutes away. In preparation for the excursion you are kitted out with a set of overalls which are thermal protection from the elements, which is a good idea. But as there was no prior information regarding this, my wife and myself were wearing salopettes and as we didn’t want multiple layer it was necessary to change. But especially for my wife there was no where to change, no discretion, with probably 30 people all trying on suites and boots, absolute chaos.
Our party on the snow mobiles consisted of 3 couples, plus the guide Boris and his support guide. Both myself and my wife have used snow mobiles on approximately 4 occasions, the other 2 couples had never driven. Unfortunately this made the experience extremely boring as at no point did we go over 25k per hour.
We mentioned this to Boris and said the company should offer beginners and more experienced driving experiences. It’s expensive and as such you want to get the most from it, this we most certainly didn’t.

We were a Spanish family of 8 people. We weren’t so lucky to have enough snow to go for the snowmobile tour and did ATV instead, which was good fun anyway.
They deserve 5 starts because the company adapted to our pickup time and TELMO was an AWESOME guide, helping us a lot and making us learn about Rovaniemi.

We had a wonderful time riding the snow motorbikes through the snowy forests in Rovaniemi with Jordi, our guide, who was very attentive and caring from the very beginning of our trip. He also explained us a a little bit about Rovaniemi's history and culture, and gave us useful tips to enjoy our holidays in Lapland. Thank you Jordi!!!

Most of us don't have the opportunity to ride a snowmobile. That's why this is an excellent tour to try it. Especially through the Lappish forests and frozen lakes. It's simply beautiful.
Note. At the end of the season, the trail becomes more a lot more bumpy. As a passenger this may not be that comfortable.
The guides were very friendly.
Small children (I believe below 1.50m) travel in a sled behind the guide. I can imagine this isn't the most exciting for them. At the end there is an opportunity for them to ride small snow mobiles in an enclosed area. Lots of fun for them. €20/child. Just ask the guide at the end of the tour and you can pay afterwards upon returning to the meeting point.

Wow! What an amazing experience. Paul made It to us an unforgettable experience, teaching us how to drive and making it look so easy. I went with my girlfriend so I made half way driving and muy girlfriend the other half. In the middle we did a mini break to take some pictures and drink a hot delicious blueberry tea. I'd like to repeat every day again and again and again. Amazing experience and amazing teacher. Thank you Paul!!

Safety briefing minimal
Guide monosyllabic. Parked outside an apartment block for about 10 mins presumably to pick someone up but didn't communicate anything to us.
Told I needed to bring a driving licence. Brought it. No one asked to see it.
14 year old was told they could drive although the guidelines are clear that this is not allowed and they don't have a driving licence anyway!

Dear reviewer,
We have been conducting snowmoblie tours throughout seasons, and children will be always sitting on sleighs pulled by the snowmobiles of our snowmobile guides. Once the children are tall enough (for safety), it will be also possible for them to sit on snowmobiles as passengers, but never as drivers. There are also always safety instructions given by our guides about driving licenses and driving skills before the tour departures as the routine for this tour since safety is absolutely the first priority.
Please kindly check again if you indeed attended our tour since the description doesn't match our safety guideline at all. We couldn't find your name in our customer list, but please feel free to reach us directly, and we will be glad to discuss further. Thank you again for your time.
Best regards,

Highly recommend this tour operator. Office right in downtown, where you get your gear. The gear made the trip comfortable, as we didn't get cold. Short drive to snowmobile location, about 15 minutes. I appreciated that both passenger and driver have hand warmers in the snowmobile. Jordi was great, enthusiastic and made the experience unforgetable for us. It is a lot of fun, and the landscape is a winter wonderland! It's a must experience in the lapland.

Me and my friends were excited for the snowmobile for many months. Sorry to say we were very disappointed. The process was very long before we even could drive the snowmobiles. When we finally got on the snowmobiles we were driving very veeeery slowly and we had to stop at least a dozen times through out the whole ride. The stops were so long that the tour guide told us to turn off the engines, and we got really cold.

We did the snowbile activity in late January and it was an amazing experience. The people who managed our booking in Rovaniemi were super professional and thoughtful. All the safety measures were explained to us and Paul was an amazing guide. He didn't mind that we wanted to make a few stops to take pictures and was always checking on us.
For sure, I would recommend this to everybody. It will be an unforgettable experience!

Hi, we are a couple with 3 children (aged 12, 11, 7). How many people can ride on a snowmobile? If only 2, would one of our children be paired up with someone else or the guide perhaps? Just wondering how this might work.
Thanks,
Noelani Sobott
