About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Passport119281796230 contributionsUnique experience!I had to attend an event in Helsinki and I had only one night to try to see the “Aurora Borealis”, in the end I decided to travel to Rovaniemi for one night to do the tour with the guys from Nordic Unique Travels. I must say that it was one of the most beautiful and intense experiences of my life, not only for the fact that we could indeed see it but for the perfect logistics, attention to detail and good vibes of the Nordic Unique team, especially Joey whose guidance, advice and good energy were very special, congratulations to Nordic Unique, if you are looking for a tour operator in Rovaniemi, do not hesitate, they are the ones!Written 7 October 2024
- stevejgm0 contributionsBear Safari was a disappointment.Nordic Unique Tours arranged 5 days in Lapland. Drivers were fantastic but tour descriptions weren't reliable. We went on a bear "safari" but weren't told until the last minute that we had to bring our water and pack in our things for the night. We are campers and like rustic, but this was too primitive, with broken zippers on sleeping bags, cold, and dark. We had to share a cabin with the driver who wanted to sleep in til 9:00 am. With bears around the cabin area, it felt more like a cabin jail than like a bear adventure. A couple of bears came out when salmon was put out by the operator, but it was a disappointment, given how far away the bears were. The trip was arranged through Travel Local which subcontracted with Nordique Unique.Written 19 September 2024
- 433whitneyk0 contributionsAbsolutely amazing experience, great guides and food, highly recommendWow! We had a fantastic experience with Gigi and Joey. We got lucky and had a very strong Aurora on our night, even though the predictions weren’t that great. Tour bus arrived right on time so we didn’t have to wait, and they did a great job. The site they took us to had nice dark skies without being too far. There was a tent with a fire to go warm up. They provided sausages, hot soup, and then my son had a fantastic time roasting marshmallows when he wanted to go warm up. If I ever make it back, I’ll be booking with this company again.Written 12 September 2024
- tomazv20140 contributionsover midnight northern light experiencesince I haven't expecting much I was (well, both of us, my wife and I) pleasantly surprised. Sauna is sauna, nothing much here, but beeing on a boat and be lucky enough to see northern light that is beyond everything. We had a nice guide, a fellow named Joey, with whom we had nice chat about everything :) I can't do anything but recommend this private midnight floating sauna.Written 14 August 2024
- T1549APclairen0 contributionsA must do activity in FinlandEXCEPTIONAL SERVICE and EXPERIENCES TO LAST A LIFETIME!! I booked in very late for a last minute afternoon of activities around Rovaneimi and couldn't be more positive about the team at Nordic Unique Travels! They were so accommodating and even were able to combine parts of tours to give me an experience of Lapland I will never forget. The Sauna Boat and lake experience particularly is something every visitor to Finland should do. I also asked for a visit to see some reindeer and they were able to add this on with a bonus trip to see Santa and cross the Arctic Circle. All at the last minute! My guide Thijs was personable and caring; truly EXCEPTIONAL and a fantastic ambassador for what tourism and customer experience should be all about. I cannot recommend these experiences enough - you will not be disappointed and will definitely want to return to Rovaniemi again after being on tour with their team.Written 26 July 2024

- GGoutam0 contributionsMesmerising TripThe Midnight Sun sauna boat trip in Rovaniemi was an unforgettable experience, beautifully blending relaxation and natural beauty. Mathias and Kido, our guides, were exceptional. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, and warm hospitality enhanced the trip immensely. They ensured we were comfortable, safe and informed, making the entire journey smooth and enjoyable. The sight of the midnight Sun was surreal and magical. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rovaniemi!Written 23 May 2024
- 705baileyh0 contributionsBeautiful & Thrilling trip through an arctic wonderlandRiding the snowmobile through the forest was exhilarating and beautiful. It was amazing getting to see so much of the beautiful land and snow covered trees and really fun. We went on a two seater as a couple and had a great time - they give you opportunity to switch drivers half way through if you want to so you both get to experience it. They provided delicious snacks and a hot drink after. I recommend taking really thick insulated gloves as my hands were frozen! I would 100% do this again - what a highlight!Written 25 April 2024
- kerry_kennedy120 contributionsWinter wonderlandA really great company to deal with. Our tour guide was so helpful gave us lots of information on surrounding areas. Pick up & drop off option was very convenient. We drove through the forest into a setting sun in -29 degrees it was an incredible experience We were only 1s on tour that particular evening Everyone in our group ( 7, aged 7 -43 ) of us really enjoyed it On drop off back to city we were given some lovely hot berry juice & cookies I highly recommend this company & will definitely use them again next yearWritten 24 April 2024
- X1770CEpeterb0 contributionsSuperb Reindeer tour - lovely to see animals and humans in harmony! We did a Reindeer tour with Pasquale and his friends on 22-Feb-24. Was fantastic, and I totally recommend it. It was friendly and unhurried, and a really magical and memorable experience in the beautiful countryside. the first thing we noticed on the tour was how well the animals were treated, and the wonderful harmony between the humans and the Reindeer - with each respecting and evidently liking the other. Pasquale gave us a detailed explanation of how the Reindeer live, and the symbiotic relationship between humans and Reindeer, which has thrived for centuries, with each benefitting from the other. Then we had a ride in a Reindeer sleigh, with an obviously happy and friendly Reindeer pulling us along, (the Reindeer chose the pace, and we trotted along very nicely - no controls from the driver - the Reindeer just trot along as they fancy). These are wild reindeer - these aren't domesticated animals - and all Summer, they live completely free and wild, and only in the winter season do they interact with humans; so these are properly wild animals, and yet they are relaxed and comfortable in the presence of humans - that is really really nice to see - and probably that is the most memorable part of the tour. Then after the rides, we all sat in a lovely cosy hut around a roaring natural-wood fire, and drank delicious hot berry-juice, with traditional spicey biscuits - which were really lovely, and we learned more about the history and practices of the Reindeer - and how the humans interact with them and protect them from predators - no hurry, and all super-interesting. After all the questions were done, there was plenty of time to finish off our drinks and snack, and no rush, and we all trotted off and were driven back to the starting point at the end of the tour. Super memorable, and super lovely. Before the tour, I was a little anxious in case the Reindeer were not nicely treated, but I needn't have worried - it was super-lovely to see how well the humans and animals interacted - if only we could find a way for other species of animals to be so well-treated as these ones. Obviously I am not so naive as to realise that many of the Reindeer will eventually be slaughtered for meat - and I'm a vegetarian, so don't like the idea of that AT ALL - however if you are going to have animals which will eventually become "meat", then this is the way that they should be treated - kindly, nicely, and with respect, and other types of animal-husbandry could really learn lessons from the Finns and how they interact with these beautiful, gentle, and graceful Reindeer. So if you are thinking of a tour - BOOK WITH THESE GUYS, because it is really lovely. Pasquale is a great ambassador for this company, and the more people select tours with these guys, the more it will help people like Pasquale to work with these graceful and lovely animals !Written 20 April 2024
- J1577PKlouisef0 contributionsFantastic experience and we saw the Northern LightsWe did the Small-Group Aurora Snowshoeing in Forests and had an amazing time. GG was a fantastic guide, it was wonderful to walk through the forest at night in snow shoes, we felt like we had the forest to ourselves. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights and GG guided us to a fantastic spot to see them. It was a truly magical experience that we'll never forget, thank you very muchWritten 9 April 2024
- B1563AUmichaelo0 contributionsGreat experience and excellent guidesWe originally booked for a full day snowmobiling but the Nordic Unique Travels contacted us the day before and let us know they couldn't provide this but could provide the 2-3 option, which we accepted. In April there was always a chance that there wouldn't be enough snow for the tour anyway, so we were aware that there could be an issue. As it turned out, the 3 hours was perfect. Snowmobiling is more difficult than it looks but it was brilliant. We drove across a frozen lake and through the wooded areas around it and enjoyed every minute. The guides were constantly vigilant and stopped every now and then to make sure none of us ended up too far away. They also gave a full outline on safety and guidelines before we left. The only name I remember was Paula (who picked us up) and she was friendly and enthusiastic, as were all the guides. Highly recommended.Written 7 April 2024
- atakjia0 contributionsGreat PhotosEven though the northern light's activity was quite low and you could only see it on the horizon, the photos were stunning! I would definitely recommend it, your phone wont be able to take pictures as good as this photographer can, she is amazing! The only thing I'd wish for is that the team could keep an eye out for all the people coming with us. They walked pretty fast back to the bus and it was hard to keep up without a flashlight through the high snowWritten 5 April 2024

Hello traveler,
Please don’t think I’m the typical psycho who’s giving a bad reference just because. Just facts.
I will strongly recommend to you not to pick tours with thins agency.
They are not serious. It’s internal policy is to do overbooking on purpose so is someone cancels they still having the tours fully booked.
So, what happens if people doesn’t cancel? They will reschedule you to another day or hour during the same day. Why is this a problem?
Because if you have other activities already booked you won’t be able to make in time for both
You might not have days left and you will end up leaving without doing the tour.
We booked two activities with them, Husky tour and Snomobile tour. The husky tour got cancelled with a weird explanation. The Snowmobile was reschedule to a different hour making us to loose another tour.
Please, don’t waste your money and precious travel time with this agency. You might be lucky and you won’t be reschedule or cancelled but I talked to other customers is was the same for them! It’s worthy to pay a little bit more and pick the tours with Wild about Lapland for example.
Trust me traveler, I’M BEING FULLY HONEST!!

Fantastic evening trip with our guide Jessica. She spotted the northern light on our way to the husky farm and stopped the car so we could enjoy and take pictures. The ride with the huskys were amazing in the dark on a frozen lake with full moon and northern light at the same time. Jessica was nice and we were only a small group. Good bbq.

This activity is not worth the money at all. Thinking back on it I feel ripped off big time.
The husky ride is shorter than a cigarette break at work.
How can you charge 180 euros for this?
“10 min husky ride, maybe you’ll see aurora if you’re lucky is a better title.”
We took a 50 min drive to arrive to a husky farm where a sleigh with excited dogs was waiting for us. As it turned out we weren’t gonna learn to drive ourselves and had to sit with 5 in a narrow sleight for a husky ride that lasted about 10-15 minutes where the driver stopped for few seconds and turned of the lights to look for aurora (it was cloudy so we needed a little luck to see it). And that was it… A 10 min ride and a 2 second stop to “hunt aurora”. After that we got to see the dogs get fed and ask some questions to the very nice owners. We took some pictures and then had “bbq” (simple hotdog sausage and slice of bread) in the tipi only to rush back to the car to drive 50 min back.
I can’t really say this is an actual aurora hunting activity. We were lucky to see it shortly, after the 15 min ride. But after that there really wasn’t any effort to go look for it at all. It really cuts the activity short.
I realize it was a cloudy day and the conditions were not ideal, but even then you should have a backup plan. You can’t call it aurora hunting if that’s not what you will do.
🤷
Also this company is confusing with sending the right timing if you book through other website, causing us to be 2 hours earlier then we should have been. Instead of telling us to read the emails more carefully you should make sure your partners don’t send out wrong timings at the same time.
If this was 50-60 euro activity I would understand.
Dogs and owners of the farm were very nice, these people seem to know what they are doing, no fault to them.
This is a tourist trap tho, no other words…

Cancelled without any explanation!
So this was to be my son’s Christmas present. We have paid in full and just received an email saying the tour operator has cancelled. There is no explanation or reason offered and it’s 12 days before we arrive.
I’ve lost faith in this company as we had other trips with them which we will now cancel.
If you want to plan ahead I wouldn’t use them!!

The company isn’t finnish. Nobody speaks finnish and they don’t know anything about finnish culture. You should book the tours from finnish companies for better experience and at the same time you support the locals. Anyways they provided good tour and we got what we wanted.

We had a wonderful time with our guide, Linda! She had a positive energy which we enjoyed a lot, despite the cold (-27 C)!
We had the chance to ride a husky slay on top of a frozen lake, which as an was a unique experience. Then, we stood over a fire and enjoyed a local hot beverage. Last stop, another frozen lake which offered an open sky above us, perfect setting for northern lights observation. What a perfect setting to enjoy some delicious sausages!
We took a lot of beautiful pictures since we were in fact incredibly lucky to see the spectacular glowing Aurora above us!
I totally recommend this tour, especially if you can book it with Linda!

We loved every minute of the night trip, Victor & Daniel were excellent guides & both so knowledgeable but still fun. They really made sure it special for our 11 year as only child. We didn’t see northern lights as it snowing but it actually made it magical crossing frozen lake, the BBQ of sausage & corn is just perfect to warm you. Meeting farm goats was lovely bonus as they nosey to see us leaving, huskies so happy & healthy. Could not find a fault, excellent from booking to finish & Victor’s karaoke bus was great fun to finish the drive back 😂

For the first time with sled dogs (no huskies here! But dogs from Alaska and Siberia).
The race is relatively short (30 to 40 minutes), on a frozen lake, without mushing (you will not drive a team), and continues with the following ones as soon as you have finished.
If the dogs seem happy and well treated, we remain in a mass tourism activity.
If you are looking for a first experience with arctic dogs, this may be suitable, otherwise, you will be left wanting…

We booked the hunting aurora lights with lapish barbeque. The guides Pepe, Matheus and Laura were extremely friendly, professional and pleasant. The barbeque was abundant. We saw the aurora lights from far away so the package was complete. My two problems were that we were never picked up from our hotel so we had to run in the snow on foot to catch the group at the last minute. The other problem was that the clothing that we were provided was dirty. I could clearly smell the sweat of the previous guy wearing it. Definitely there is room for improvement but it will be a good memory from our Rovaniemi tour.

We had a stunning night experience with a sky full of stars and we also saw bright northern lights.
We were in a small group of 4 people and our guide drove us to a Husky farm where we got a short introduction how to drive the Husky sled. Afterwards we started the Husky Sled Tour.
Our guide Belén was very nice and friendly, she stopped our car in the middle of the road just to enable us to see the northern lights.
We also drove to a frozen lake close to Rovaniemi and had a nice Barbecue.
If you are in Lapland, we would definitely recommend to book this tour.
