About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 83renatinha0 contributionsCould be betterWe did Korouoma Canyon Wilderness Hike. It was a moderate hike. We are supposed to have a lunch time but we didn’t and there were few stops for appreciating the place and take some photos. Plus I received a hat with a veil to protect from the mosquitoes but it was not clean and had a terrible smell. So I didn’t use it. There was no waterfalls because this time of the year there is no water. It was a beautiful place because nature is always beautiful but nothing special. I don’t think I would do it again.Written 22 June 2024
- Shalianna D0 contributionsWhite snowy hikeThis tour is the complete package! First, our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insight of the history of the forest and the waterfalls. He took pictures of us in all the best spots of the park and was always on the lookout of what we need it. As a bonus, during all our hike we had snow showers and that made the experience even more magical. Very fun tour and educational!Written 12 April 2024
- karinsU9071IL0 contributionsAn unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Korouoma canyonJanik and I spent two fantastic days with our guide Teemu and his wife Irma, the owner of the café at the entrance. It was built into a nice package that fulfilled all kinds of wishes we could imagine: - Hike (day 1) and snow-shoeing tour (day 2) with Teemu as a guide, explaining everything about the nature and history of the canyon and beyond. We enjoyed the landscape, it’s silence and learned a lot about it. We got so much more out of these days. It was pure joy. - The overnight stay in your kota was the best night of the one-week trip we had. Teemu took care of us to ensure that we were well fed (ok, with the help of his wife Irma), could enjoy the tent-sauna and had our privacy down in the canyon. It was unforgettable. - The food was simply gorgeous. Irma loves cooking traditional dishes based on the best local ingredients. One can’t eat better in any 5-star restaurant. The saying “the way to the heart is through the stomach” becomes true especially as it is combined with two very warm-hearted people! Thanks for letting us have this experience.Written 1 April 2024
- agne_baglioni0 contributionsWhat a good luckWonderfull experience, and we had a lot of luck: our first try and an immediat success. Our guide Gabor find the right perfect spot on the first try and took a lot of incredible photo, always kind at every our request. Tasty snack near the fire with local sausages and bread at the end. Recommended!Written 30 March 2024
- carolpe560 contributionsFabulous hikeThis hike was incredible. We were lucky with fresh snow but even luckier to have the most fantastic guide, Guille. Guille was so enthusiastic, very knowledgeable about the geology, the flora and fauna and demonstrated how to prepare and light a fire using bark and a flint - which we then used to cook our sausages. One member of our group, who had asthma and a dodgy knee, found the climb out of the canyon rather difficult and wished the notes had suggested bringing poles.Written 29 March 2024

- 213kamryns0 contributionsPeaceful and beautiful hike in Korouoma National Park!We had a great experience. Would book again! It was nice to get away from some of the touristy attractions. It was quiet and peaceful at the canyon and I felt like we got to really experience Finland this way! Timeline: The drive took approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to get the national park. The hike itself took approximately 3 hours to complete. We spent about 45 minutes eating by a fire at the end of the hike and another 1 hour and 30 minute drive back to town.Written 18 March 2024

Many in our group had never snowmobiled before and we were put at ease with clear instructions. Safety is paramount when snowmobiling and Wild About Lapland take this seriously ensuring that regular stops were made to ensure everyone in the group was ok and to offer helpful advice to get the most out of our experience. I would 100% recommend.Written 14 March 2024
- 116ezmec0 contributionsStunning hikeAmazing hike through the snowy woods to see the frozen waterfalls. Toma was an excellent guide and even took us to see another little extra part as we had time. We also got to chop wood for a campfire and cook sausages over it (with vege also provided on request) which was pretty magical in the snow. There were hare tracks, several bird sightings including a Siberian Jay, and also a squirrel. We opted to do this tour as unfortunately it was too cloudy for the Northern lights during our stay and were not at all disappointed! Would highly recommend.Written 14 March 2024

Our guide Toma (sorry if I misspelled it) is the best tour guide ever! From the pick up, the waterfalls, lunch and the drop off, everything was perfect! I was myself a tour guide in Brussels but Toma made this a 5* activity! He really took very good care of his group (8), very informative, very funny and very good photographer!! I totally recommend this activity, I promise you will not be disappointed at all!! On the way back, many cars got stuck on the road because of the snow and guides from Wild about Lapland got out of the car and helped everybody out!! So I salute them!!! We carefully planned our trip watching the weather daily and chose this company for the small group size and great reviews.
There were 6 in our group and our tour guide, Guillaume. Perfect size group and our tour guide was so informative, interesting, and knowledgeable. The Northern Lights did not disappoint! Spectacular displays with green, pink and purple danced across the sky. The teepee, coffee, sausage, and especially the warm fire were excellent. We saw the lights the entire night with a couple periods of magical, dancing lights. Our tour guide also talked through constellations and had a telescope where we viewed Jupiter and 4 of her moons. Outstanding experience!

Do not take this tour. It says they cancel if the weather conditions are bad but they don’t and they take your money anyway.
We did the tour on Monday 26 Feb and all other people we knew who had booked tours with other companies on that same day had them cancelled because there was no chance to see the lights.
We never should have gone on this tour.
The only reason people would give this five stars is because they actually saw the lights. You should not take this tour if there is clouds or bad weather because the company has no integrity to cancel the tour if there is bad weather and then you will be paying a lot of money to drive around in the dark and have a sausage.
Instead you should only book tours that have a guarantee you will see the lights or not pay or go another day. We also recommend instead you choose a tour that goes “hunting” for the lights. Instead of just driving to three same spots every time and hope to see the lights there.
We are very disappointed in this experience and tour company that they did not cancel the tour based on the terrible weather conditions.

We are a family of four and we went with our parents who are 60+ who have in the past chased and seen northern lights from Norway and Finland. Amidst all experiences in Finland this time, this one was the worst. I would rate it negatively if I could and I am not usually one to go on a rampage publicly.
So last night, 28th Dec we went to chase lights with another Spanish family. Maria was our tour guide (sweet girl but terrible at making any attempt at chasing lights). It was forecasted to be a cloudy night but we still attempted to chase. That was ok. But she took us to a point which was at a 10-15 min drive from the city at best. We barely even could beat the city night pollution. After we got there we were left to ourselves to do what we want. We decided to join some other guides from the same company as we waited for the lights. They were barbecuing for there guests but we just waited looking at each others faces. Finally when the other guides left for another point to try and check luck there, at 10.15pm our guide chose to barbecue food because how else can we kill time and fool customers. Then instead of taking us to another point on the way back she started lying about how the night was a wash out and it was pointless. While that maybe true, given the money they take atleast make an attempt? But no. To top it all, she was continuously on her phone faking to look for lights but we could see from the back, all she did was expanded her screen on google maps and minimised it. She did this every minute literally risking everyone’s life on the car as she drove terribly. So yes no luck at the light, we’ll that’s ok it happens but what’s not ok is that they didn’t even make an attempt. We could see the city pollution from where we were and anyone who has done this before knows it’s the worst thing to do. And to top it we didn’t even get barbecue because by the time our guide decided to barbeque we were frozen meat ourselves barely managing to hold up. All in all it was a nightmare and we couldn’t wait to get back. So do yourself a favour and maybe try another travel company and try your luck but don’t go with these guys. Like most of you we read some raving reviews but this was disappointing beyond belief!

We were a family of seven who wanted to hunt out the northern lights. We booked two nights for small individual groups to our family and two of us went one night and five of us the other night. On both nights we had a fabulous experience with our guide Jonathan. His knowledge was amazing and we learnt so much from him about not only the northern lights, their history, whey they are there and what factors were needed to be seen but so much more about the beautiful countryside we were in. He was clearly an expert guide who wanted us all to have a fabulous time. On both nights he hunted out with our group the northern lights and took amazing photos. One night had more success than the other but thats the uniqueness of the northern lights they are unpredictable and only show when and where they want to. This we learnt from Jonathan. Even on the second night with not much activity he was not going to give up trying to find them and to his credit he did and there they were, spectacular in all their beauty. When they are found he takes amazing photos and tells you all about the particular northern light you are seeing which is really interesting to learn about. Jonathan was enthusiastic, knowledgable, professional, kind and really cared about making our trips a lifetime experience. Big thanks to Jonathan we will never forget the experience. Would we go again, definitely now we have seen them once we want to try and see them again and we would certainly use this company again.

Run, don’t walk, to sign up for one of the most amazing experiences of your life. We read about Wild About Lapland’s Northern Lights tour, and loved that the maximum group is 8 people. Some tours had 20-40 people!!! First, our guide and photographer was Guillaume. He was truly an amazing guide. He was very accommodating to everyone, kind and extremely knowledgeable about “how” the phenomenon of Northern Lights happen. He took 80 pictures of our group of 6, always saying, “Do you want another picture?” Or, when the lights were really happening, taking picture after picture. We went to 3 different locations. The first one you could barely see the lights, but he showed us how your camera catches the light differently then your eyes. Jupiter was very visible by the full moon, and Guillamue got out his telescope and he showed us the moons of Jupiter. We were able to see 4. We then went to our second location, which was by water, and we got some good pictures and lights with reflections on the water. BUT, the last location was just unbelievable. It’s privately owned by Wild About Lapland, and we hiked up a very large hill, NO outside lights, beautiful location with pine trees and with a tepee. Guillamue built a fire, we had hot drinks, and he cooked sausages served with bread and mustard. He showed us how to start a fire with a flint, birch bark, lichen. But then, the Northern Lights really started. Even Guillamue was astounded at the colors besides green. We saw pink, purple, yellow and green! We actually stayed a little past midnight because the lights were just so beautiful. This amazing experience was possible because of Wild About Lapland’s 8 person maximum persons, and more importantly Guillamue. He was patient, encouraged us to be in pictures, and his knowledge of the Northern Lights. Highly recommend! I would give 10 stars if I could!

We were a bit disappointed by the Northern Lights small group tour with did with Wild About Lapland. Our guide, although very energetic and enthusiastic, seemed inexperienced. She relied on messages from other guides about where they were planning to go Aurora hunting vs looking at different apps / forecasts to plan her own route. I could see others in our group get frustrated and start checking apps on their own to share info with her. She also forgot to carry some camping basics (knife, water…) for when we took a break. This is in comparison to a tour we took with a different (smaller) company where the guide had 7 years of experience, drove us 2 hours out to the Sweden border where we caught the lights, and provided each of us with a small backpack containing snacks, drinks and flashlights in preparation for the evening.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for your valuable feedback - it is very important to hear all aspects of a tour from our customers so we can improve in what we do and provide the best quality possible to our customers.
Our guides have a collection of locations they use for our northern lights tour spread over a considerable area with (often) varying weather conditions this is the reason the guides often communicate with each other during the tour - sometimes the best information you can get is live information from a location.
Forgetting basic things for the tour such as the water and knife is unacceptable as these are basic tools of the trade. The guide in question has been reminded of all equipment needed and to support guides in general in this we have erected a 'must take with' list in our equipment room for them.
Again, thank you for your feedback and we wish you a sunny spring.

Very disappointing tour. Was not provided with any overalls and the guide mostly kept to himself without giving any details or information about the plan. The tour mentions upto 3 locations, but we were only taken to 2 locations not far from the city, where the city lights were clearly affecting any chances of seeing northern lights. The weather was really cloudy and most of the other tour companies canceled the tour for that evening as there was no possibility of seeing the northern lights. Our guide went ahead with the tour anyway and was only focused on wrapping up the BBQ snack and then heading back. He did not even wait for the said 4 hours or try anything to improve chances of catching some aurora by looking for a place with clear sky. Complete waste of time and money! The photos provided the next day were a joke. They were not edited at all and were completely unusable due to darkness. Certainly not 'professional' photography here! Would not recommend this tour or company to anyone.

Excellent experience in a small group as advertised.
We waited until little less than one week to book a specific date, so that weather forecast could minimize the risk of clouds.
And we were not disappointed. The quality of the pictures from our guide is excellent, he made sure that we all had good pics to post !
The barbecue was also nice, to warm up and chat with the rest of the group.

In one word - our experience was 'Transcendent'. We went for a northern lights tour with Luka (the Wild About Lapland guide). He was kind, thoughtful and extremely thorough in taking us around finding Auroras. We went to four different locations to find them and eventually on our fourth try we managed to find this gorgeous nature phenomenon. Luka was so patient with all the pictures. Evenif we didn't find the lights, just the whole experience of sitting on a frozen lake, having sausages next to a natural fire would have been worth it. Thank you WAL for an amazing evening.

Gabor was the best tour guide we could have hoped for! Unfortunately the clouds came out, but Gabor went out of his way to make sure we could try and see the lights. We were able to see the lights once the clouds suddenly cleared up and it was such a fun experience! You can tell Gabor is passionate about the lights and giving tours. So glad I booked my tour here! Very small group, great photos, and a great experience!
