Our trip to Finland was absolutely a dream come true!! I traveled with my husband, son (8 years old), and my Dad. This was meant to be a celebration for my 40th birthday, and my Dad's 70th birthday in March 2021, but instead it was postponed to March 2022. It was worth the wait. We were skeptical about getting to see the northern lights at all because the forecast was showing clouds and snow daily. We were rewarded on our first night with Aurora that spanned from horizon to horizon and danced across the sky. Tears of joy came to my eyes, as this has been a lifelong dream to see the northern lights. To some, they may not have been as colorful or vibrant as they can sometimes be, but for my family...it was PERFECT! We saw the best aurora shows from the tower. On our last night, my husband and I were on the tower by ourselves until 1:00 in the morning. If you want to see the lights, we figured you have to be willing to stay up late. In our sleepy and cold state, we came up with the saying..."Those who snora, miss the aurora!". We took our own camera, and captured amazing pictures. We were grateful to have seen the aurora 3 out of the 4 nights. Our guide was Canice, and he did a wonderful job. He was very friendly and helpful! We participated in all the day time activities. We really liked having the snowshoe walk on Tuesday, since it was near the cabins and allowed us to have more of a relaxing day. After all the traveling the 3 days prior, a relaxing day was really needed. We were lucky enough to get to do our snowmobiling while it was snowing, which was really cool and gave an extra arctic feel. The day we went dog sledding was a beautiful sunny day. Dog sledding is no joke and kind of challenging, but incredibly fun at the same time. We definitely recommend taking advantage of the day time activities. Also, there is a restaurant within walking distance from the cabin, called Deatnu, which was delicious. It has limited hours, but we recommend checking it out if it's open during your stay. As for the cabins, they were well cleaned and furnished, and the view looking over into Norway was just beautiful. We also tried out some of the sleds in the storage area, so be sure to ask your guide about these. There were just a few, and the driveway to our cabin made a perfect sledding hill. All in all, this truly was a trip of a lifetime! We were completely happy with Canice and all the hospitality from Aurora Service Tours. If an arctic trip to try to see the northern lights is on your bucket list, this is the company I would recommend!

This was the first time for us going to Lapland and it was even better than we expected.

From the booking of the trip to having to postpone due to covid, then to the day before arriving, Piritta was always there to answer all of our questions.

As for the trip itself, it was marvelous !

Canice, our guide, came to pick us up at the hotel and then time to go to the supermarket to stock up groceries for the week. After a 2 hours drive to Utsjoki we arrived at the camp and lady Aurora was there welcoming us in our cottage. What an awesome start !

We did all of the activities. The snowshoes walk in very cold weather was an experience (We highly recommend the snowsuits provided in the cabin to keep warm). We had a great time with Canice telling us stories. Canice told us it was for his first time at the front and leading us and we did not get lost so all is well ;)
We went to Norway for the dog sledding with Tana Husky. It was really fun to get to try being a musher and see all the dogs happy to run in the snow. Again very cold weather but it was definitely worth it.
The snowmobile ride was in Kaamanen with Tony. We drove on the river and stopped to get a coffee. We enjoyed it a lot. That day was warmer, only -13°C, you can tell the difference !

As for the Aurora borealis itself, we got to see it and take great pictures. We went chasing it due to cloudy skies at the camp for the 2 last nights there. One was a miss and the other one a success. Even through the clouds we could see it dancing, teasing us. Both time Canice offered us hot berry juice and cookies to warm us in the cold of the night, yummy !

Overall it was an awesome experience with Aurora Service Tours. Our guide, Canice, was very helpful and fun to be around, always in a good mood. The Whatsapp group to let us know what the planning was and if an aurora was coming was a great idea. We enjoyed the modern cabin with the sauna and tried the sauna then snow jump and so much more. 10/10 it is a success.

We would definitely recommend. You will see us again Aurora Service Tours 😊

We saw the Aurora Borealis, the first night even before arriving at camp - all thanks to Darren who expertly predicted the conditions and location for the excellent sighting. And he drove us out every night chasing the Aurora Borealis. What an amazing, exhilarating experience!!

They really make it all about the lights, and still take good care of the stay - cottages are cozy and comfortable; observation tower is an excellent bonus; and a selection of snowsuits and boots in various sizes - now that is luxury!
The integrity, and environmental ethics and consciousness 🌍 of Aurora Service Tours, matches my own.

On the fourth day of the tour, I decided to make it my personal tradition to book once a year with Aurora Service Tours.

Thank you for the lovely holiday, and a lifetime of good memories.

Our entire experience with Aurora Service tours was incredible. We spent four nights/five days in late February at the delightful cabin (really more of a luxury home) being driven around by Canice for a trip of a lifetime. It was cloudy most of the time at the cabin location, but this did not prevent Canice from driving to a different location each night where the forecast was better. We were so fortunate to see magnificent Aurora every night!

We thoroughly enjoyed the snow shoe afternoon and had a wonderful time dog sledding. Highly recommend both activities. Canice was a fabulous guide, ensuring we had such a wonderful time. Thanks Canice and Aurora Service Tours

Amazing time chasing northern lights in north Lapland, and a lot more!
Tony is a genuinely passionate person who was able to transmit us his passion through our time in Lapland.
The cottages were very homely and comfortable to relax between activities and aurora chasing.
Thank you and best of luck for the future!

First of all, auroras, cottages and the positivity of staff and other guests were perfect. However, it definitely must improve.

The main reason is when we arrived the first day, we had a schedule paper as advertised saying we'd go aurora chasing every day. However, when we are at the site, our guide said it is already visible and we don't need to go out because the auroras are the same everywhere(?). Then why did you guys advertise that we'd go outside chasing? The competitor was doing that while we were stuck in the site. They got much better aurora views.

Secondly, our tour guide said we can't go to Norway for aurora chasing because they require different Covid controls. Next day they took us to Norway for husky adventure (that we had to pay 145 Euros because nothing but staying is included in the price).

Last but not least, we were given our photos taken by them but guess what. They are all blurry and in a very bad quality. There is random pictures of people. Auroras are one of the most beautiful things in the world to be photographed however, our cheap phones got better aurora photos than we were provided. Again, the competitor images were great because they went out for better scenes and also they took better photos.

So, overall, I did enjoy the cottages and the auroras but we were not taken to aurora chasing even though this is the real purpose of the tour. Tour guide didn't want to bother so we paid premium for being stuck in the same site for 4 days (except for husky tour we paid for)

Hi Enes, me and Darren are quite sad you left us such a poor review. You were fist pumping Darren on top of the tower because the aurora was incredible. You had probably the best week of the season, it was clear 3 nights in a row and you got incredible aurora every single night. It really was an AWESOME week and you guys were really blessed with the weather AND the aurora. To leave such a terrible review after this week is really incomprehensible to us. But I'll answer your points: 1) It's clearly written on website we don't go aurora chasing on day 1. Your guide has been working 8-9 hours already driving to the airport, waiting for you at supermarket, settling you into your cabins etc, sorting out snow boots, snow suits etc. In 7 years of tours and many thousands of guests, you are the first person to complain about this. Your health and safety comes first, and I'm not sending you out into the night with a tired driver. Not gonna happen. If it's clear at site, you can see aurora from the tower anyway, no need to go out, which was exactly the case when you arrived. You had great aurora when you arrived, so there was no need to go anywhere. The competitor didn't get much better aurora views, the aurora spans many hundreds of kilometres, we all see EXACTLY the same thing, even if you are in Sweden or Norway, we are all seeing the exact same aurora. So the competitor probably photoshopped their images, (which unfortunately some of them do) which has led you to believe the aurora was better elsewhere. It wasn't. 2) The restrictions on the border are changing often, in fact the husky trip you took to Norway was the first time we used them in a long time, we were worried actually even about this, and as you know, the border guard did stop the bus on the way back to Finland and checked everyone's covid pass. So our concerns were warranted. Secondly, we had clear skies and epic aurora at the cabins already at 8pm, so why do a 5 hour round trip to the fjords and miss the aurora? You came here to see aurora, not Norway. If you wanted to see Norway, you should have booked a holiday in Norway instead of booking one in Finland then complaining you are not in Norway :) 3) I've just looked at the pics from this week and they were fine, in fact there are some super sharp pics of you on top of the tower, smiling with aurora over your head. The random people you speak of were your fellow travellers on our tour that week. We copy all the weeks pictures onto the memory sticks and pass them out to everyone. You can delete the pictures of the random people if you want :) To summarize, we didn't go aurora chasing because you had epic aurora over cabin and up the watchtower each night. Why would we need to aurora chase, when the aurora has come to us. Further, it's not all about you Enes, we had 11 customers this week, one was in a wheelchair and some were elderly. It made no sense to have them sit in a bus for hours when we have aurora at the site where you can warm up, go the toilet, drink and eat at your leisure. The real purpose of the tour is to see aurora, did you see aurora? Yes, you had 3 nights in a row of epic aurora as soon as you walked out your cabin door. Funnily, on the last night when it was cloudy and we did go out aurora chasing, you requested that we head back to the site early :) In the weeks where we have tough weather and we are aurora chasing in the bus for 4-5 hours every single night for the merest hint of aurora, those people would have swapped for your week in a heartbeat. The husky farm is not a charity, they have many dogs to feed and staff to pay, so of course you have to pay for it, like anything in life. Our husky prices are cheaper than every other competitor by a looong way. We don't make ANY money on the husky trip, in fact it costs us money, fuel and wages to take you there. So again, pretty harsh criticism that buddy! There is nothing we can do about that. Glad to hear the accommodation met your standards, you did enjoy the aurora and you liked our staff :) Have a great trip back to Turkey buddy. Thanks for coming. Regards, Tony.

After being forced to rearrange 3 times due to Covid-19, we finally managed to take our trip.
It was well worth the wait.
From the moment we were picked up by our guide Darren, we knew we would be well looked after. The group was very small, just us and a father & son (Jerry & Blake) so everything felt much more personal.
The accommodation was fantastic. It was clean & modern and had everything we needed.
The sauna was wonderful after a days adventures in the snow!
Darren was knowledgeable, friendly and patient, often stopping for me to take pictures!
He gave us lots of advice for spotting and photographing the Aurora, something he has a passion for. We saw the lights on 2 nights, being treated to a double show in the early hours. The watchtower gave spectacular views above the trees and the night sky above, perfect for photos or just watching in awe of the show above.
Due to the unpredictable snow at this time of year, we could not husky ride so went snowmobiling instead. Tony (the owner) led us on a ride through the forest where we saw some of the local widlife. Another top bloke!

All in all, the whole stay was one of best experiences we have had.
Thank you Tony, Piritta and Darren, we would have no reservations about recommending you to others.

We have just returned from a four-night stay in Asgard and it was a truly fabulous time. The chalet was super, warm and comfortable with its own sauna, stunning views, and Darren our tour guide was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about pretty much everything relevant to finding the aurora and the other activities. With temperatures varying from minus 2C to minus 27C he was also very careful to ensure that the group were all properly protected from the cold when necessary.

We arrived on a very grey day, so overcast that there was no prospect of seeing the aurora, but that gave us the chance to settle in and be ready for the following days which were bright and sunny and nights which were clear.

Darren took us aurora chasing on the second and third nights and successfully found the “lights” even though this was not a period of the highest activity. Our first trip went west and on the second we went north-east crossing into Norway, catching a magnificent show on the way back. He also helped enormously with the camera settings to enable us to get the best results. On the final night, we stayed at Asgard where the viewing platform is a real bonus in taking guests up above the tree tops to see any activity.

Of the other activities available, we only tried the dog-sledging – wow; what a brilliant experience in a fabulous setting. On the other days we elected to walk locally and that was good too. Asgard really is a beautiful location.

All in all, a brilliant time. Thanks Darren.

There were many really good parts to our trip so I don’t feel I can single one particular thing out. Our guide tried so hard to chase the lights, which were there but often hiding behind cloud. Our accommodation was extremely comfortable, and again our guide was always prepared to go the extra mile when it was possible. The day time activities were exactly what you’d expect for this part of Finland

Snow and ice are exotic substances for a South African. Seeing the Aurora has been on my bucket list most of my life and I'm almost 70. This trip was the experience of a lifetime.
I have been moved to the place where words are hard to find. I think I finally understand my Swedish husband's world, this place of silent snow and sleeping trees, magical mystical lights that dance and sparkle till the tears come as your heart lifts with simple joy.
Nature was more than generous and our guides certainly went out of their way to ensure we experienced everything she had to offer - even so far as seeing two families of moose grazing beside the road, while the sun made its first appearance above the horizon in months, painting the winter white world in a rose-gold glow. I will never forget these 4 days. Thank you Darren and Tony.
