Love the Causeway Coast Self-Guided Bike Tour
My husband and I are retired, active and marginally fit. While I had been on a self- guided bike trip before (5 years ago), he had not. We chose this tour because I wanted to see the Giant's Causeway. I was not expected to be blown away by the history in Derry, the peacefulness of the backroads, and the kindness of strangers. Seamus provided a great overview of the route along with alternative suggestions should we decide to go off route or have some time off the bikes. The BnBs were outstanding - excellent breakfast, quiet and comfortable rooms, and friendly, knowledgeable hosts willing to answer questions. The route is challenging (hills) but doable especially with e-bikes. This was our first time on e-bikes. We found them to be easy to use and so much fun! The villages along the route are scenic, historic and welcoming. We were especially happy to have 2 nights in several places along the way. Not having to pack up every day made the trip more enjoyable and gave us flexibility to choose how to spend our time (laundry, hiking instead of biking, sleep in). Seamus and Nora happily responded to questions quickly while anticipating and answering follow up questions. The tour is accurately represented on the website. The tour documents are clear, concise and helpful. The tour was uneventful in that we had no punctures, were able to get back on track when we missed a turn (my fault), and no injuries. We spent a month in Ireland and, even though the bike portion was in the first 10 days, it is our favorite part of the trip. We highly recommend this route and Ireland by Bike.

Wonderful trip along quiet roads in beautiful Donegal!
We rode 4 days of the Highlights of Donegal Tour that Seamus crafted for our limited time. It was awesome. The routes kept us away from cars on small roads surrounded by sheep literally everywhere but more so with our eyes on the endless natural beauty of Ireland. We really enjoyed being able to enjoy our pace unbothered by cars. Seamus was super helpful setting us up with bikes, bags, locks, Garmin devices with directions and a guidebook. The small homes we stayed in had delightful hosts with local knowledge and history to share as well as tasty breakfasts! Overall, Seamus made everything easy for us to simply enjoy our exploration of Donegal. The best part of the trip - meeting the Irish - such a friendly, lovely, kind and fun lot! I recommend this trip with Seamus 100% and would like to do it again to see more of Donegal as we only rode 4 of 7 days.

Amazing Bike Trip - "Highlights of Donegal Bike Tour" Self guided 8days/7 nights
Ireland by Bike tour company was amazing. The tour exceeded my expectations. Prior to our trip, one of our cyclists had to cancel due to an injury. It was past the allowed cancellation dates for a full refund and yet the tour company still refunded the injured cyclist the full amount. The cycling trip was great. The bikes, accommodations and breakfasts all worked out well we had fun and interesting places to stay. The routes were well planned with minimal traffic and exciting terrain. The last day, Nora and Seamus notified us that due to heavy rains and high winds, they recommended a transfer by vehicle to our last destination. For safety reasons, we decided to take their advice and glad we did. Ireland by Bike was an exceptional company to tour with. I definitely am recommending them to other cyclists and hope to do more trips with them. Thanks so much Nora and Seamus!

      See above notes.
A 16 day custom self-guided bike trip was set up for me by Seamus. The distances met my needs and the accommodations were very nice. I saw coast and inland mountains. During 2 days only I pedaled in rain. I plan to return next year.

Donegal Coastal Treasures.... Bike Trip of a Lifetime!
Everything about this tour was simply FANTASTIC. The views were jaw dropping. The E-Bikes were excellent (do get an E-Bike, its hilly and they are so much fun to ride). The routes were off the beaten track and so easy to follow with the GPS system and written instructions provided by our really wonderful Tour Hosts. The B&Bs were delightful with really terrific hosts, easy access to towns, always very clean and included the infamous HUGE Irish breakfasts each morning which will get you all the way to supper. We did every "extra" along the route and I'd encourage you to do the same, its always worth seeing another gorgeous spot. We took our time and stopped at historical sites, phenomenal beaches for picnics and crafts people along the route...there's no need to rush because the mileage each day is so reasonable. I travelled with my husband and our three nieces on the 7 night Donegal Coastal Treasures Tour and all agreed it was the trip of a lifetime.

      E-bike rental
We rented e-bikes for three weeks. When we needed additional bikes on short notice Seamus delivered them that day. Over an hour away. Seamus also suggested some fantastic routes to ride. Highly recommended.

      Donegal discovery
We cycled six days on the Donegal Coastal Treasures Bike Tour, the lansdcapes were really nice. Sometimes we could not resist to stop every 100 meters to take pictures... We felt that Donegal County was as nice other more touristic places in Ireland, but a lot less crowded. Seamus and Nora provided everything needed to follow easily the tour, and a lot of interesting informations about the places to see along the way. They also helped us to arrange our arrival in Donegal when we missed our flight to Dublin and had to take the next one! All the accomodations and B&B were nice and comfortable, with lovely hosts.

Wonderful bike touring in Donegal County
Had a wonderful 5 day trip on bikes in Donegal county. Rented both e bike and regular bikes, and both were great. Seamus was very accommodating and helpful, and even delivered and picked up the bikes. Highly recommended!

      Best Vacation Ever!
We did the Highlights of Donegal self-guided bike tour in June -- just two of us. It was the perfect vacation -- beautiful days of riding through the countryside and cozy evenings in small inns. It was super well-organized and totally stress-free. We don't know if it was Seamus's magical route-making or the e-bikes, but every day felt like mostly downhill. And the clockwise loops required very few tricky right turns. The route was mostly small roads and even smaller country lanes. The riding was so much fun! We highly recommend the e-bikes because we never had to think twice about doing the optional extensions, and those optional rides were the best (St. John's Point, Sliabh Liag Cliffs, Port, Glenveagh National Park). We were happy to have enough energy to hike to the top of Mount Errigal on a perfectly clear day -- amazing views of the whole of County Donegal. Seamus and Nora were a pleasure to work with. They were responsive and helpful and provided everything promised.

      Donegal Short Cycling Break
The views were amazing. You will experience Ireland in a way you just can’t in a car. Riding through the countryside is an incredible feeling. Truly did not want it to end! Advice: 1) Get the e-bike, 2) Do the “extras” (it’s where the really good stuff is!). Seamus and Nora are the most accommodating and professional guides. The B&B’s we stayed in were absolutely grand!

      Amazing bike tour
This was by far the most memorable event of our summer trip. The sights along the coast, in the mountains and the valleys were spectacular. The lodging arranged each night of our trip was wonderful as were the towns of Killybeggs, Carrrick and Ardara. The bikes provided were very nice, but I think I'll use an ebike next time.

We would do it again tomorrow.
We did the 10 day highlights of Donegal tour and had an absolute blast. Friendly folks, beautiful sights, welcoming accommodations and plenty of opportunities to explore well off of the beaten path. Nora and Séamus were super responsive when we were getting the trip set up and laid out a great route. Being able to ride from town to town with our luggage always ready to greet us at the next destination was awesome. I can't say enough about the warmth of the the people in County Donegal. Top to bottom. One of the best holidays we have spent together.

      Backroads and Beyond
Just finished the 10 day Backroads and Beyond bike/hike tour with Ireland by Bike. Let me highly recommend Seamus and Nora who organized a wonderful trip - spectacular scenery, quiet roads, good bikes, welcoming bnbs, lovely hikes, and friendly people all over Donegal. The weather was kind to us, and a reasonable level of fitness required for biking and hiking. Thanks Ireland by Bike

A wonderful 10 day cycling trip
As a group of 5, with 2 on ebikes, we asked Seamus to devise a self-guided itinerary of around 10 days cycling with a rest day in the middle. He did so marvellously. Each day was around 60 to 80km (with one day of just over 90kms), generally on back roads and country lanes which were a joy to ride. The little traffic we encountered was cautious and respectful of cyclists, so we felt much safer than on the roads of many other countries. The scenery was picturesque and at times spectacular, particularly along the coast. Our accommodation was in B & Bs and small hotels and it was comfortable and ideal for our requirements. The bikes were near new and robust and it was handy to have the front and side panniers which were provided (with a high viz vest). All in all, we had a terrific trip and we felt fully supported. We would highly recommend Ireland by Bike and cycling in northern Ireland.

Amy and I contacted Ireland by Bike to create a 21 day custom bike tour combining several of their tours of the Wild Atlantic Way, Donegal and the Causeway/Antrim coastal route. Seamus and Nora were a pleasure to work with and were excellent communicators. They were more than willing to create an itinerary and route that met all of our expectations and more.

We had originally planned to ride the tour in May of 2023, and had paid for and booked the trip and flights. Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to a bike crash injury Amy had prior to the trip that needed time for rehab. No problem! Seamus and Nora cheerfully returned our funds and said to contact them when we were ready to ride again.

We booked for September and again, Seamus and Nora had our logistics and tour route ready to go. We had a four day layover enroute to Dublin in Reykjavik, Iceland to get synced up with the time zone change ( 8 hours forward!) and jet lag relief. We strongly recommend this option as we were ready to ride when we arrived in Ireland.

We met Seamus in Sligo to get our tour briefing and e-bikes. We had a nice visit with him and went over our itinerary, GPS and bicycle operating details. He was very informative and helpful, providing us with all we needed to start our tour.

All of the routes and side trips were just what we hoped for. Amazing scenery, abundant historical sites to visit and, most importantly, back roads with minimal vehicle traffic. I can honestly say that we encountered more sheep and farm tractors than other motor vehicles. While we had to ride some busy highways, they were of short duration and usually had a bike path or lane for us to ride on.

The lodging they arranged for us was exceptional! We enjoyed our stay and meals at all of them, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Their local knowledge of places to hike and visit and evening meal options were invaluable. Our luggage was always waiting for us at our evening destination.

Our rental bikes, GPS and guide books provided by Ireland by Bike were accurate, dependable and easy to use. That's not to say we didn't manage to occasionally "create" our own routes, but that was operator error, and we
    never got lost.

We had the pleasure of meeting Nora in Carrick at the company building while riding to Glencolmcille. Seamus met with us again in Letterkenney to provide a GPS and guide books for the back half of our tour ending at Cushendall.

It's hard to say which part of the tour was our favorite, as every leg had it's own unique, exceptional character and scenery. The hiking days we had scheduled at Slieve League and Glen's Head are memorable and were a nice break from being in the saddle.

The side trips and ferry rides to Arranmore and Rathlin Islands were spectacular, as was the riding and scenery.

We would not hesitate to recommend Ireland By Bike for those wishing to book a bike tour. Ours was truly a trip of a lifetime, and everyone who has
    viewed our photos agrees!

We did part of the Wild Atlantic Way in Donegal for 4 days. The organization of Ireland by Bike is excellent from all points of view. The itineraries are very well thought out, the bikes are in excellent condition and well equipped: e.g. the lights are powered by a Shimano dynamo inside the wheel and with a buffer battery so you are visible even when stationary. There is great flexibility in the service and the stop points are truly comfortable. Obviously breathtaking landscapes!

Superb bike ride with a very professional company who gave guidance on routes and places to see. Excellent bikes in v good condition and with plenty of storage plus locks, helmets and high viz jackets. Our weather was mixed but would recommend it even in wet weather - had lunch in An Christin (Glencolumbkille) and a drink at the end in Hegarty’s Slieve League Lodge, Carrick. One of the highlights of our holiday in Ireland.

I was going to take a rest day, but then decided for a ride when rain stopped at 11am. Seamus delivered the bike within 20min to the BnB I stayed, and kind enough to let me ride till dark. This is my first time riding E-bike, and I loved it when hills just disappered with the assist going up the steep hill to sliabh liag. I liked it so much that I went back to Silverstrand again to watch sunset at 8pm. This area is perfect for bike touring, hardly any traffic, beautiful and diverse landscapes. This turned out to be one of the best day during my 2 weeks touring around Ireland. HIghly recommend it.

This was an incredible adventure and one I happily recommend. My daughter and I were so impressed with everything about the experience. The accommodations were comfortable and having the baggage portaged by Seamus each day made it easy. Our BAndB hosts were lovely at each stop. The GPS on the bikes took us off the beaten path and allowing us to enjoy an “in the weeds” Irish experience. The people and sights along the way provided us with such an authentic Irish feel. At almost 70 I was just a bit nervous about the rigor of the rides but I had absolutely no problems. I would do it all over again. Ireland May be the only vacation destination I was “homesick” for when I returned to the states.

What an extraordinary way to take in the sights of Coastal Donegal.
It was my first time on an e-bike and it rode so smoothly and comfortably. Nora and Seamus have curated such a special experience. They provide you with all of the safety info as well as excellent directions, maps, informational brochures to accompany your ride. And that’s before you see the spectacular sites that this beautiful corner of the world offers. 10/10 experience. Thank you so much!

Seamus and Nora were so helpful! We had an amazing time exploring the Donegal coast - we got to see a unique view of the area off the beaten path.

The views were gorgeous and the route/biking was easy to manage with a group of 8. The e-bikes were reliable and top quality.

Highly recommend and will return if we’re ever back in the area!

Seamus was amazing! The weather forecast for the day of our tour was not great. I was in contact with Seamus the night before and he could not have been any nicer. We had a window of “good” weather to go out and he offered to open the shop early for us to get out and take advantage of it. We were grateful! We only did a part of the “tour” but what we did see at the first couple of tour stops was amazing. The equipment is top notch and easy to use. Dry bags and everything you need included. We are casual bikers and this was perfect for an activity while in Ireland . If only the weather had cooperated! Highly recommend!
