The boat was very full and left from the Port of Fira earlier than the scheduled 11 am departure! Make sure you get down there (by way of the 588 stairs or 6€ cable car) extra early so you can check in your voucher before standing in line to board the boat. 1.5 hours at the volcano was sufficient, just make sure you are back at the boat at least 10 minutes prior to the “departure time” as the boat left the volcano early and did leave plenty of people behind (there are other boats departing from the volcano to the hot springs as well, but not sure if you can get on a boat that you aren’t assigned to) Make sure you wear a dark swimsuit to swim at the hot springs as the sulphur will stain light colored suits. Overall we had a good experience, but wanted to share further details in case you are considering booking.

My friend and I had a generally good experience on this tour. We wonder whether more clarity should be offered regarding appropriate footwear for the volcano tour, as some people were in flip-flops, as well as the level of fitness as it was quite difficult, particularly in the hot weather. The volcano was very pretty! The tour guide gave us a description of the crater, however, then let us continue the hike independently, where we had to be back for a certain time. Ensure you allow enough time to walk up as well as to walk back, as it may take longer than you think. The hot springs was very lovely and cooling experience after all that heat, however, we would have appreciated more time swimming, particularly as there was a long queue to get in the water. One of the boat crew was very gentle as we got on and off the boat, which showed sensitivity and care towards the passengers. There was a bar on the boat, where you could purchase different drinks, including a nice slushie, which seemed reasonably priced. There was also a toilet, although we did not use this, so can't comment on that. Overall a good experience, particularly given the price.

It was a really nice boat trip, though they could have used more shaded areas on the deck of the boat. It was a bit of a scramble to get onto the boat first to get a nice shaded seat.

The hike to the top of the volcano is pretty significant and steep. You have to enjoy the hike and not think of it as a necessary step to get to the crater at the top, or you will be disappointed when you get there as it's not much to look at. The view of Santorini from the top is pretty fantastic though. We did this trip at the end of June and it was already really hot. Highly recommend that you bring sunscreen and a hat for the hike as there is no shade along the way, and more importantly that you bring water for the hike, as it's pretty long and there is no where to buy water after the leaving the boat.

The hot springs afterwards was also really nice. I teenage kids really enjoyed jumping off the boat and doing the short (50m) swim to the springs. Make sure that you don't bring a nice bathing suit though (especially one with white on it), as the mud at the bottom of the water around the hot springs does get stirred up and makes the water muddy. Not muddy enough to be gross, but muddy enough to really get worked into the bathing suits.

Excellent boat trip with the wonderful guide she was. So helpful and informative she made the trip so enjoyable especially climbing up the volcano to here all the facts and history was amazing
The hot springs is a perfect way to end the trip as you get to jump in the sea and relax in the springs.
I felt safe and relaxed on the boat the guy on the boat works hard he is definitely the captain
The trip is well worth booking if you enjoy walking do listen to what’s required as you do need sensible shoes water and a hat it’s very hot
Anna was such a wonderful guide who works extremely hard
Thank you for a fabulous boat trip

We walked down the steps into Fira port to get the boat, it’s about 20-25 minutes down. Tour started promptly at 11.00am, the boats were very full. Short trip across to the volcano, 25 - 40 minutes to walk to top, which was of moderate difficulty, wear trainers. Back onto boat, then to swim in the warm lagoon for 30 minutes. The trip was 3 hours total, water and drinks on board to buy, and a toilet.

Multiple cruise ships dock in the port, the cable car is the only route up into Fira, unless you want to take the steps (500) or a donkey. The cable car is 6 euro one way, and takes 36 people at one time, usually you will wait 30-50 minutes in the queue, due to volume of passengers from cruise ships. The cable car operators can’t count to 36 and let many cars go up half empty. That was slightly irritating after waiting in the heat

Would give them negative stars if I could.

First of all, some recommendations to those taking this trip. the volcano is up a slightly steep but rocky path. Wear really good hiking shoes, and long sleeve pants and shirts due to the ash and sun. This is NOT your walk in the woods. If you wear a hat, its likely to fly away, I saw at least 3 people lose them due to the high winds. They fly into the valleys that are not walk-able, so it will be gone for good.

Second, the hot springs are not your typical pit in the ground that you can walk too, its more a beach shore area that the ship swims towards and then you are expected to swim too the shore. The water is 7m deep where they drop you off and you have to swim over 100m to the shore in choppy water. The hot springs are full of sulfur and iron, so the water looks reddish yellow and it will get on you.

Now for the review...we had a couple who fell on the hike back and scrapped her knee. Luckily we had a small travel first aid kit with some band aids and ointment, and we were happy to help. We then got back to the boat and told them what happened. The individual needed something more substantial to cover all the cuts and stop the bleeding, the ship said sure, don't worry, we can take care of that. Well we find out that the boat's first aid kit was even worse then ours and all they could offer was some napkins and small band aids. Safey is not a priority for them.

It gets worse...once we reached the hot springs, they offered to let people jump out and swim to the hot springs. This was 30 minutes, and the hot springs were more like warm 27-28decC "warm springs." One individual got stuck at the springs and could not get back to the boat. Once everyone else was on the boat, they were informed someone was stuck. They got upset and annoyed someone got stuck saying "we told you its a long swim!" Unapologetic and cowardly, they asked for any volunteers who were good swimmers to go rescue the individual. Then ended up sending a 16 year old teenage girl with a pool noodle and life savor for the individual.

The boat has no life vests, barely any pool noodles and no escape/safety boat. Its pathetic how they treated their customers and their lack of empathy and care for the regard of life of their passengers.

An enjoyable way to spend a few hours when in Santorini. For a reasonably low price, you get a trip to the volcano crater in a lovely looking boat that looks a bit like a pirate ship. The one big drawback is that they seem to pack a few too many people onto the boat. A pleasant little track up to the top of the volcano. At the top you get a little talk from the guide, but honestly, I probably learnt more from the little leaflet you pick up when you enter the volcano. There is a €5 charge for entry by the way, not included in the tour cost. The views from the top of the volcano were great and worth the hike. The hike is about 20-25 min each way, so you might want to have more sturdy footwear than flipflops. Next up is a trip to a hot springs swim on the smaller of the 2 islands at the centre of the volcano. You jump out the boat into the sea and swim to the springs. You need to be a fairly competent swimmer for this, or bring your own floatation device.

Got a bus from Kamari to this place, so very easy to do €1.60 per person each way, took 20 minutes.
The steps are not for the feint hearted, they are steep and covered with a fine layer of Donkey poop. Almost 600.of them and need to be taken slowly.
The tour operators office was easy to find and the staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English.
The boat journey across to the Volcano island was very pleasant and quick.
Once docked we paid our €5 ea to climb the path to the craters. (They took card or cash).
25 minutes at a slowish pace will see you arrive at the top for amazing views across the bay. Coming down takes 20 mins and some parts are slippery due to the ground material.
90 minutes her and back on the boat to the Hot Springs Bay. The boat moors off shore in 10m deep water, you can jump off the boat into the cold water and then you swim Into the inlet where the water is the most brown Is colour. ANYTHING that is white will discolour from the water. The boat sounds a horn when it's time to leave amd it's back to the boat, a quick change under a towel and back to the port.
The brown colour stays with you for a while, despite a long shower scrubbing and washing multiple times the hotels white towel was still streaked with orange/brown stains from the water.

This was an awesome quick tour of one of the active volcanoes in Santorini. We hiked up to the top with our tour guide who was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information. The hike itself was tough because it was very hot and I recommend wearing close toed shoes. Then we got to go to the hot springs in the ocean. You have to swim in the ocean a short distance to get to the hot springs and there wasn’t much time at this spot to really get to enjoy it for long. It was a nice afternoon tour and definitely something you should do while you’re in Santorini.
