Super interesting street art tour with Agata around Porto
Had an amazing street art tour with Agata. Learnt loads about the history of street art in Porto and about the different street artists, plus some little bits about Porto in general which were super interesting. I would 100% recommend it!

    A very personal tour
A wonderfully colourful, comprehensive and entertaining potted history of Portugal was a fantastic way to start the tour. This gave the perfect reference point for a warm and engaging walk around. Plenty of personally related points by our guide, Tiago, who then followed up with an emailed pinned map of same.

    Do it
I did two tours, the Porto essential tour with Diogo and the street art tour with Agata. It was a great way to get a snapshot of Porto, you could tell that they were passionate about what they do and were very knowledgeable. The essential with Diogo is not to miss and neither is Agata’s. Too if you enjoy art.

Great Tour: Great Introduction to Porto
Great tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Porto and excellent and putting what we saw into context of Porto history. His stories were engaging and interesting and not too long (but often perfect length for us to catch our breath). A great way to get to know the city and his help with restaurant recommendations, etc. A great tour, highly recommend it.

    Lovely walk in Porto
Lovely guide Agata took us on a walk to visit all the "must see" sights in Porto, the walk was nice and easy with plenty of time to rest, talk about the place and take photos. The 2,5 hours were a blast, definately recommend! ^^

    Enjoyable free tour with Tiago
My husband and I took the Essential Free Tour of Porto on September 10, 2024. Our tour guide Tiago was great! He gave us a great history timeline of Portugals and Porto’s development over the centuries. Although our group was big, 29 people, he somehow managed to keep us all together for the over 2 1/2 hour tour. He definitely enhanced the tour as it was clear how much he enjoys his work which included sharing info via e-Mail about the stops and suggestions mentioned with the participants. We had a wonderful free walking tour with Agatha on Sunday morning. The tour was well organized and just trh right mix of humour and facts to keep us all entertained and not wear us out too much on the 2.5hr tour. Great job Agatha! Highly recommend!

Excellent guided walking tour of Porto.
Tiagos knowledge of Portugese history was delivered in such a concise and succinct way it was easy to grasp and remember. Excellent. Also, his knowledge Porto as a city and how it has developed over time was great. Thoroughly recommend. Terry

    Fun and Informative!
I had the tour with Tiago! It exceeded my expectations. Tiago is a great storyteller. He was extremely knowledgeable about Portugese history and also gave practical tips for a visitor of the city. I appreciated that he was from here and was able to give a perspective of a local. Tiago was very kind, funny and obviously loves his city which makes me excited to explore it more. Finally, he was prepared and gave us a map with local reccome dations as well as a playlist of Portugese muisic. I would encourage anyone to book him as a tour guide the next time one visits :)

Excellent tour with an amazing, personable guide
Jaime was amazing - a great tour that hit a bunch of our bucket list locations and showed us a few more spots we hadn’t heard about but ended up being glad we didn’t miss! We loved hearing about the sights and locations we visited but also loved the history of Porto and insights into Portuguese culture sprinkled throughout. The group size was not too big as is sometimes the case on walking tours and Jaime took care to ensure the group stayed together and everyone could hear well and felt included. We really appreciated the recommendations for lunch places and other activities to check out, it was a really nice touch. All around an amazing tour and would recommend to anyone visiting Porto for the first time!

    A most excellent walking tour!
The walking tour around the centre of Porto was excellent! Although the tour was scheduled to be two and a half hours long time flew by with Agate, our guide, who gave us a fascination insight into how the city formed and the background to all its main landmarks. She also gave us invaluable tips on how to navigate the place and where the best places to eat, drink and sightsee were, which was invaluable.

I did one of the free walking tours in Porto in August. The exact tour, date and gender of the guide I will keep anonymous as I would rather this review be a learning experience.

Pros: The tour was thorough and the guide had lots of detailed knowledge of the city and plenty of cultural recommendations.

Cons: I have done many free walking tours all over the world and this is the first time where I felt pressured regarding money. In every other free walking tours the guides say that they work for tips and appreciate anything you can give at the end of the tour and are very grateful for what you do give. This guide however went over many times how it is not actually a 'free' walking tour and that they expect a fair salary for the work they have done. At the end of the tour I did not have cash on me but I had 10 euros worth in coins which I offered. Rather than politely declining and saying that I could instead withdraw money from a nearby cash machine, they disdainfully said that accepting coins was an insult to them. They pointed out there was a cash machine not far away which I was more than happy to do but even their attitude regarding this was unpleasant, suggesting that they are not sure if I will return or not with the money. I returned with the money but they had already started walking off rather than waiting at the meeting point which we had agreed on. I did however catch them and manage to give them the cash as I said I would. Overall however I did not come away from the tour feeling positive like I usually do on other free walking tours. I feel like in the past they have been cheated by other tourists and they are carrying these negative sentiments with them to subsequent tours. Even if this is the case a positive fresh attitude needs to be brought to each new tour as this is how successful tourism operates. I myself have worked in tourism. There are always going to be tourists who cheat you and if you carry over your negative sentiments from previous experiences to subsequent tours, people will pick up on this.

Juliette was a really amazing tour guide. She took us around the old part of the city as well as gave us recommendations and prices for the top tourist attractions. We had a small tour group which made the experience easy to follow and created a nice environment. Overall, this was a very informative and fun tour. We loved learning about the history of the city as well as why everything is how it is today. We definitely recommend this tour for everyone as we extremely enjoyed it. Thank you again Juliette!

We took this tour on Sunday, April 2nd and were so lucky to have Jaime V. as our tour guide! We learned a ton and had so much fun at the same time - his knowledge of the city of Porto was vast and he shared it in a way that was very entertaining, interesting, and with the right amount of humor! We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Porto - it gave us a lot of ideas for what we wanted to see more of. Thank you, Jaime for a wonderful experience!

I did the walking tour on a very rainy and overcast day in porto, but Jaime V.’s enthusiasm and passion for this city brightened the whole day up. There is a bit of uphill walking as you’d expect in this city, but only a small amount, and learning about the rich history (and a quick pastel de nata break) kept us all going. Definitely recommend this tour - the tour guides work for tips so there’s an expectation of payment at the end. Very interesting and engaging tour, thank you Jaime!

I recently joined Diogo's free walking tour in Porto, and it exceeded all expectations. Diogo's passion for the city's history made the tour both engaging and informative. His storytelling skills brought Porto's past to life, creating a captivating experience for the entire group.

What sets Diogo apart is his thoughtful touch – at the tour's end, he shared a comprehensive list/map of Porto's hidden gems and must-visit spots. This added a personalized and invaluable aspect to the tour, making my time in Porto truly memorable. I highly recommend Diogo for an enriching and enjoyable exploration of this beautiful city!

A fantastic tour with a wonderful and informative guide, Agata. She taught us a lot about Portugal as we passed by some of the city's most famous landmarks. Agata was very knowledgeable about not only Porto, but also Portuguese history, and she answered everyone's questions easily. Although 2.5 hours seems long, the pace was very easy to follow and Agata found us places to sit in the shade while she spoke. I would definitely recommend this tour as your first activity in Porto, as you get lots of recommendations for food, restaurants and places to go in the city.

My family (husband, son, and I) had the pleasure of attending "The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center" July of 2024, and we couldn't be happier with our experience. Our guide, Tiago, was truly exceptional. Raised in Porto, Tiago shared his fascinating personal story of moving abroad to study architecture, only to return and purchase his childhood home in Porto's city center, which he is now lovingly rebuilding.

Tiago's deep knowledge and passion for Porto's history made this tour the most concise and informative retelling of Portugal's past we have ever encountered. We learned so much, and his storytelling kept us engaged throughout. He encouraged us to think about the landscape and imagine how it looked before the buildings were there, which added a unique perspective to our tour.

One of the highlights was the personalized touch Tiago added by sending us his curated playlist featuring Portuguese artists, many from Porto, spanning from the 1950s to the 2020s. Additionally, he provided us with a map and his personal recommendations, which were incredibly helpful for exploring the city further on our own.

Tiago's expertise, enthusiasm, and personalized touches made this tour an unforgettable experience. We highly recommend "The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center" to anyone visiting Porto. Thank you, Tiago, for making our visit so special!

Today we had a walking tour of Porto. Maria Molina was our guide. It was a terrific tour full of facts and information and Maria took real care of us for those few hours. We really would recommend going on these walking tours as it not only gives you a history of the city but it also helps you get your bearings, which Maria was very helpful with. Thank you Maria. You are an excellent guide.

Tiago’s background knowledge in architecture and history mixed with his lived experiences as a local to Porto made this tour unforgettable. If you don’t have any idea what to do while you’re visiting Porto, I would recommend taking his tour on your first day. Tiago provides excellent suggestions for places to visit and eat throughout, including a link to a Google map with all of his suggestions. We went to one of the wine warehouses in Gaia that he suggested shortly after the tour and had an excellent time.

Tiago provided a beautiful, thought-provoking tour discussing some heavier moments in Porto’s history, the urbanization of the city, and sprinkles of anecdotes from his youth. All elements were delivered masterfully and with grace.

There were many great photo opportunities as well!

I have a lot of respect for Tiago as he is a master of this craft. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and passion for the city!

I don’t think I have ever experienced a tour with such a passionate and knowledgeable character as Diogo! He shared such a beautiful and personal perspective and history of Portugal that had a broad appeal with everyone. He was sure to make everyone feel included and always checked in to make sure everyone could hear him, and that they were having a good time! He combined laughter with facts, and people were engaged!
His story about his grandma and her life and the changes she witnessed touched many hearts and resonated personally with us, as my husband’s parents grew up in nazi Germany and came from trauma. We learned a lot about Portugal, the culture, the history and many great tips of where to go and what to do. Thanks Diogo! We will always think of you when we have a Port and Tonic! lol
