About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- choonk780 contributionsGreat winery tourThis winery tour was excellent with a wonderful guide Cuber and a great driver Nuno. Cuber was very knowledgeable and explained various aspects of Douro valley areas and wines. We enjoyed delightful conversation with many people from other countries. Only one downside was lunch plate, which was not met the expectation. Overall, this tour is worth to try.Written 15 September 2024
- E6108FBdavidt0 contributionsWine and River Douro ExperienceAna was a very professional guide. Nothing was too much trouble. We went on a wine tour and Ana made it both informative and fun. The whole experience involving two wineries was excellent. We then took a relaxing trip by boat on the River Douro.Written 15 September 2024

The lunch was filling and very delicious. The tour of the winery and the boat cruise on the Douro were very informative. We highly recommend this package. It is well worth the cost. Our guide Hanae was most accommodating and informative. Ingmar the driver did a great job and we felt safe the whole time. 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟Written 15 September 2024

- dkS6425ES0 contributionsYour of PortoThe tour was split between Spanish and English speaking. The winery showed special privilege to the Spanish speakers and wine tasting while the English were sent to wait and told to be quiet for the Spanish speakers while the English were rushed through only until the gift shop. What a coincidence. I will not buy their wine in the future. Getting to the tour was an event itself. When you google the directions it does not take you to the location. When we got to the tour company and explained I did not appreciate the way I was treated. We were told it wasn’t our fault it is what google maps tells you. It would have been nice to know that information in advanceWritten 15 September 2024

- samlR9206DQ0 contributionsGreat experience, As advertised.Great experience, we went to two great wineries, learned about the production of port and muscatel. Our guide Charlie was enthusiastic and informative and made the experience seamless. Could have done without the boat ride as you get better views driving in on the bus, would have rather gone to a third winery instead. But overall the experience was exactly as advertised and had a great day in the Douro Valley.Written 15 September 2024

On the positive stunning views abs scenery. The boat trip was also good.
However, we were very disappointed with the tour. They did not give or prepare us vegetarian food as requested . We even sent them an email day before which they replied confirming that there would be a vegetarian lunch . At the restaurant everyone was served potato and cabbage soup. The main was roast potatoes salad , pork and rice. 2 bottles of red wine and a small basket of bread for 12 people. Our meal didn’t turn up . We had to keep asking. The rice was cooked with chicken stock ( one French vegetarian guy ate it and was really upset when he was told) they kept trying to give us that rice with salad. In the end after frequent requests they fetched us more salad with some cabbage on it. Not the same value as for those that eat meat. For a restaurant they could have prepared something very easy for vegetarian risotto etc
We booked an English speaking tour , on the day were put on a French tour with 4 other English speaking people . The guide did speak English but it was mainly focused in French. Because he tried to do both it meant he was talking the whole time but information was lost as he switched very quickly from one to the other.
The first stop was a pretty village which was nice but no real information of what was there
At the vineyard we were separated and had to wait 20 minutes for the English speaking guide and was put with another English group which was large. The guide was very quietly spoken we couldn’t hear him so kept asking him to speak up and he rushed it everyone commented how he must hate his job as he acted like he didn’t want to be there so no real information on the process . At the wine tasting we were given very 3 small samples and just left - no information about the wines. Our French tour came back much later so obviously had a better tour and received tasting information . ( Most vineyards offer this either free or very cheap so wasn’t sure why ours was so bad)
On the whole very disappointed and not good value for almost £80. I did not learn anything about wine as were were pretty much ignored. we felt like being English was a problem. Being vegetarian definitely was.

We had an amazing day with our tour guide Diana, she gave a lot of information and was really nice. All the places we’ve visited were also really nice, the lunch was great with an amazing view over the Douro valley. During the tour at the vineyard we also got a lot of information from one off the people that work there, very interesting. Not only the stops but also the trip there was mesmerizing definitely recommend 10/10

We loved this tour so much that we want to do it again with our friends. Anabela our tour guide was fantastic! She explained everything in English and even helped us with our Portuguese. She gave detailed stories about the places we visited. She did a good job corralling us as we continued to be easily distracted by the awesome beauty of the Douro River Valley.

I have been on many many tours throughout Europe, South America and India. Yes, I have had the occasional aggressive driver. But Antonio was a distracted and reckless driver. Never have I had such a dangerous driver. After lunch, the road was very narrow and curvy. I looked forward and Antonio was scrolling and scrolling through photos on his phone, occasionally pausing to show the young ladies in the front seat photos of himself. He kept doing this and laughing and flirting with the young ladies, barely watching the road. The phone was mounted to the windshield, so what he was doing on it was easily seen. Finally, after being encouraged by other passengers I raised my voice and told him to stop playing with his phone as it was unsafe.
He then became angry and was flying around the corners, passing cars and even passing TWO large Living Tours busses. This was after leaving the lunch spot and heading towards the boat tour. Everyone in the bus was hanging on. He flew down the single lane drive to the bus dock and several tourists had to jump out of the way and then turned to yell at him. A little while later, the two Living Tours buses arrived and we ALL boarded the SAME boat. So, there is no possible explanation for his behavior other than he was mad and wanted to “show me” unsafe driving.
On the highway, he consistently drove 10-25 km/hr above the speed limit. This was measured by a highly accurate GPS-based speed app.
There is no possible way that others have not complained previously about Antonio. I cannot recommend in good faith a company that continues to employ such a dangerous driver.

Our experience with our guide Silvia was great! The Corona rules were greatly respected: 4 ppl in the minivan whereas there's a capacity of 8 + every time we would get back in the van, Silvia would disinfect our hands.
We started the tour at 8.20am in dowtown Porto, hopped on the minivan and made our way to Amarante, a quaint little village between Porto and the Douro Valley. We were given approximately 1h of free time and then continued our way to the Douro valley where we had lunch in a traditional Portuguese restaurant (wine included). Afterwards, we drove to Pinhao for a 1h boat tour on the Douro river.
We finished the day at the Croft Port vineyard, which is a wonderful estate (refer to pictures attached).
We had the most wonderful time - thanks Silvia!

This tour included too many stops and so we got short changed on the winery tour - which was the main event for us. This was extremely disappointing. This tour included a stop in scenic Amaranth, a stop at a scenic overlook, lunch for two tour groups (average quality), tour of the S. Luis winery and a very rushed wine tasting, so no time to shop for wines afterwards which was a major disappointment. We were rushed to get to the Rebello boat tour, which was lovely, but I would forego this to spend more time at the winery. My advise is to find another tour with fewer stops, or find a private guide to get a better vineyard focused experience and a better lunch restaurant. This tour in my opinion had too many things crammed in for one day and the main attraction (vineyard and wine tasting and shopping) was sadly far too short. I don't recommend.

The tour organisation was amazing and even though there was a lot of tours starting around the same time it was not chaotic.
This is a full day tour and well worth the money. Trip to Amarante was brief but such a beautiful town. Try the green wine.
Vineyard tour was great and got to try some lovely port wine. And the boat cruise at the end of a long day was great but as it is at the end we maybe did not appreciate it as much.
The highlights for me though were the views, words cannot explain how amazing the Douro region is and you have to see it to believe it. The appreciation I have for wine from the region now is immense as all the harvesting is done by hand. So I will definitely be supporting the vineyards in the future.
The tour guide Joana added to the pleasure of the trip she was non stop fun and energy (including her in-depth knowledge) and really made it more memorable and they pairing of her and Silvino the driver was humorous. Even though the roads were a big heart stopping at times you felt so safe.
Well worth the money would definitely recommend

We booked the trip (Douro valley tour) at the office the night before, and had a great experience. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Everything about the trip the next day was great. Starting with the guide (Marina) and driver (Lucas) who were excellent. Knowledgeable, kind, helpful and welcoming. She even had some great recommendations for dinner in Porto, which we were delighted with after trying it. Thank you both!
The bus was clean and comfortable, the winery tours were informative, the staff very friendly, and the wine and port flowed freely. Lunch was great and in a great setting, with friendly staff. And the boat tour was truly enjoyable in the middle of beautiful scenery and calm river waters.
Overall, based on our experience, I'd highly recommend this tour and the company fair price for a great day trip exploring the wine region with its spectacular landscapes. Bonus if you get Marina (she's fluent in English and French).

I don't tend to book bus tours when I visit a new town or city, I'm more of an independent traveler, wishing to figure out my own itinerary as I go along.
Given I was visiting Porto with my wife for a long weekend I decided to try the Douro Valley tour as it was so highly rated and seemed to offer quite a varied itinerary. Basically it's a combination of comfortable (air-conditioned) bus visit to a lovely historic town, lunch at a picturesque location, wine tasting at a local winery, river cruise and bus trip back via breathtaking scenery of the wine producing Douro region. It's a great package and very keenly priced as compared to other tours in the region.
Our guide Juliana was informative and entertaining and our driver navigated the steep and winding roads in a controlled manner, particularly helpful with a belly full of food and local wine.
I'd highly recommend this tour and rate it a five out of five

We've booked this tour following a hint of our host during an extended weekend at porto. Picked up by our cheerful guide Silvia we started to the douro valley. While dringing, Silvia amused us with stories and legends about 'her' region with knowledge (and sometimes with a wink) about history, the people and their life. All in all we've experienced a unforgetable day in a beautiful region. Absolutely recommendable!

It's not "my" tour, it was through one of the tour companies, "Living Tours". There is a small store in front of the old train station in Lisbon that sells/schedules tickets. Also, most hotels have brochures that have tour info. The bus we were on was a full sized tour bus so it'll fit probably 40 or 50 people. The problem will be availability for 13 all at once on the same tour. Try to schedule it as soon as possible, to have the best chance to get all 13 on one tour.

We have a tour booked for 15 people on the 8th of July with Hotel pickup. Can you please give me an approximate time for pick up and drop off. The ending time is most important. Thank you

What wineries are visited during the river cruise? Also, would you adjust the price for someone that is pregnant and not able to partake in the wine tasting?

You do not vistit the wineries during the one hour river cruise. You visit one before the cruise and one after the cruise.
I can't say anything about the prices. But if the pregnant one is going with a friend then her friend can drink more:)
