      Incredible experience
Such a fantastic trip. The smaller boat gave a really personal feel with superb knowledgeable guides who really helped us understand more about the animals we saw. Saw pilot whale pods and dolphins and it was a wonderful way to spend a morning with the added bonus of a swim off the back of the boat. Not our first trip and definitely would choose Celebroty for next one.

      Dolphin spotting
We booked this trip through our hotel. We went in the smaller catamaran so only about 20 people which made for a more personal experience. The trip lasted about 3 hours. The staff were great, friendly and very knowledgeable- explaining everything and telling us all about the animals we saw. We were visited by dolphins, saw a whale from a distance and also saw a sea turtle which was amazing. They sailed along the coastline which gave us the opportunity to see things you wouldn’t normally see. There was a swimming opportunity but we hadn’t brought our swimmers and it wasn’t the best day but would love to swim in the summer. Highly recommend these trips.

Highly recommended. The crew are amazing. The young lady was so knowledgeable about the marine wildlife and it really added to the experience. We got to see Atlantic spotted dolphins.

brilliant trip with friendly expert guide
We went on the rib tour and had a fantastic experience which exceeded expectations. the guide Natalia was very knowledgeable about the species and their various habits. We saw dozens of bottlenose dolphin, and pilot whales, which was a first for us. Also a common dolphin (which is apparently less common). There were many babies as well as much bigger animals , many very close to the boat. It was a very exciting trip. The driver and guide were very respectful of the animals and made sure not to crowd them or get in their way

      Amazing whales watching
I'm very impressed with this experience :). Starting from the very beginning the crew was very well organized and professional. Shared interesting details about the pilot whales, we saw. I wasn't aware that the female leads a pod and that a pod can attack e.g. a shark. We saw few pilot whales including a baby whale. They were close to the catamaran for few minutes. We saw as well the stunning cliff Cabo Girão and the famous Câmara de Lobos village . The catamaran itself was brand new and very clean. I couldn't have imagine a better experience :)

Great afternoon whale and dolphin spotting
What a fantastic afternoon out! The crew were great, knowledgeable and friendly. We were lucky enough to see Pilot Whales, Bottlenose Dolphins and rarely seen in the area Striped Dolphins. The Captain followed all the rules to ensure the animals safety and there was commentary throughout the trip. Thoroughly recommend!!

      Great experience
The experience was great. We were lucky enough to see a few pods, and the guide, Blanca, was a great host. She was very informative and friendly, but also left us alone when necessary to enjoy the sightings. I think I would recommend the dinghy over the catamaran, although I haven't experienced the latter. I found it exciting and have suffered from sea sickness in the past, but this wasn't the case here. The staff seemed very passionate about their jobs.

      Beautiful experience
Great experience with Blanca as a very knowledgeable and very interactive and fun guide. We had the chance to see pilot whales and 2 kinds of dolphins. It felt very safe at all times and respectful towards nature. The views of Madeira and the Atlantic were stunning.

Brilliant trip out into the bay.
Booked the Eco Catamaran and went out on a lovely sunny morning. Crew were great and very professional. A great ethos to preserve the environment around the animals in order not to stress them. Despite it being 'out of season' we still saw pilot whales and bottle nose dolphins. A really good trip. On the return the crew told us about the animals we had seen, very infomative with a great ethical message.

      Funchal New Year's Eve fireworks
The best place to see the Funchal fireworks on New Year's Eve is definitely from the sea. There are many offers from a basic boat trip on a catamaran to elaborate formal dinner on a ship, and everything in between.

Great few hours on the sea!
A great trip out to sea with a very professional team. We left on time and headed out to sea where we were lucky to see a pod of pilot whales. Amazing. We watched them for the maximum 10 minutes and then went on to Camara De Lobos before returning to Funchal marina. The whole trip was around three hours. The catamaran is spotless. The crew are very knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth every euro.

      The best birthday!
We were so lucky, we saw a pair of fin whales which we were told would never normally be seen in December. Then we were lucky enough to see a group of mother and baby pilot whales, as well as some bottlenose dolphins. I could not have been happier. The boat has plenty of room for everyone to see and move around.

Quite disappointing unfortunately. We did not see any dolphins, whales or turtles. We understand that they are wild animals so not seeing them would not have been a problem. However, we were quite disappointed with how the situation was handled. After there were no fish spotted, we were excited to go swimming and snorkeling, which was also advertised on the website. But there was no snorkeling equipment on board so this was also not possible. Afterwards, there was no offer to do the trip again since we did not see the fish. They did mention that we might get a good deal to go again, so we were thinking of going again the day after before we left (it was advertised that they are open 7 days a week), but they told us that they are not open on sunday. Overall, we experienced this trip as quite a waste of our time and money, not because we did not see the fish, but because the situation could have been handled better (have the snorkling equipment that you advertise, offer a deal to go again). We understand that covid makes the business different, but then mention this on the website as well and dont say things on the website that you cannot offer.

Dear Romy, I do understand your disappointment for not seeing the wild life, but as I explained that can happen coz we are dealing with the wild animals. In regard to snorkeling equipment we have them available onboard but as preconception due to the covid 19 we do not hand them over. Below this message I copied and pasted our correspondence right after the trip. I have actually offered you a free trip but unfortunately you were flying back!! As a matter effect our offer is still valid if you return to Madeira in the future. We are always concern about our clients and to our best ability we do our very best to make them happy. They rather should call it « Magic Boat » and not Magic Dolphin.
The staff is really nice and welcoming.
We haven’t seen any dolphins but that’s part of the game.

However, after only 1 hour (over 2:30 trip) the staff told us that there weren’t gonna be any dolphins today, because the speed boats were heading to the other side of the island, that they have the speed and authorization we didn’t have. And they gently suggest that the if we wanted to see dolphins, we should book the speed boats which are of course more expensive.

At the end of the boat trip, another team member told everybody the same « advice » a second time, even offering discounts on the more expensive trips on the speed boats…! The Vouchers was on the table ready to be distributed 😅.

So they use the Catamaran trip to attract people to sell their second option, more expensive. We have to salute the strategy though, it’s actually pretty clever.
It’s a nice boat trip anyway.

On top of that, and with the pandemic context, social distancing rules were NOT observed.
We’ve heard an entire family brag that they were not vaccinated and they were not wearing any masks and of course, NO documents (such as negative PCR tests) were asked before the boarding.

They won’t see us again even if we had a pretty good time anyway.
Shame that these poor dolphins are chased everyday by dozens of speed boats, maybe that’s why we don’t see them with the « quiet » boats.

Dear Guest, I do read every single review quite carefully and sometimes I come a cross with some interesting ones. But I must admit yours is really amazing. Your observation of the oparation, rather then sit back and enjoy your trip did put a smile on my face. Thank you for your salute on the marketing strategy I take it as a compliment, as I have almost 30 years of experience on marketing and hospitalty. When we sell the tickets, we clearly explain people the diffrence of the 2 vessels we have. Zodiac has 500Hp engine and the Catamaran has 80HP engine. Catamaran takes 35 people, zodiac takes 18 people. On the Catamaran we cover 10 to 15miles total area, Zodiac, we cover up to 25miles to 30miles sometimes to see the wild life. Logicly it is more expensive oparation. This is why its 45€ pp.The chance of seeing the wild life on our zodiac is 99% on the first trip on the Catamaran 70% to 75%. Obviously zodiac is a light weight and it is very maneuverable and we can go out further then most boats. At this moments there a lot of boats out there and animals are extriemly stressed and they go further and further away from the shore. The vouchers we use on the boat ,for those priorty was, the wild life and they did not managed to see anything on the Catamaran they can use to go on the Sea Safaris 10% less then normal ticket price. This is not used to gain more custemers for the Sea Safaris it is a gesture for our clients. Also on the very same vouchers we pass the trip advisor review information to get the feed back from our guests, so it is not ment to use as atract people to spend more money. Regarding, speed of the vessel and us chasing the poor animals, I found that is quite contridiction, because you paid for a boat trip to wild life, because you did not see anyhing you say crew was friendly we enjoyed but I am gonna give 2 star anyway because you do not agree with the comapny name our marketing stragedy or did not see wild life!! but at the end you feel sorry for the wild life anyway.... Our crew is very experienced and certified guides, and marine biologist. They know excatly how to aproch the animals without disturbing them, without you actually seeing how we work on the speed boat I found quite amuzing your asumtions. Regarding the social distancing, we can only put the regulations in place the rest up to the people to follow. We are not the policemen to warn everysingle minute of the trip to say keep your distance. It should be the commen sense from any human being has responsibilty to others. For checking, or asking the result of your PCR test, is not mandotory and no other maritime touristic companies does it. However wearing the mask is obligatory. Hope this helps your understaning. Best regards Umut

We left the marina at 1pm and for more than 1h we were trying to see the dolphins... and then the guide told us look left!!! and there they were, 8 dolphins playing around our catamaran. We kept going after the 10 min (Portuguese law for the safety of the animals) and after another 20min there was again 3-4 bigger dolphins!!
The guides are very knowledgeable and answering all the questions👍

The catamaran is smaller than some of the competitors, which I think feels better. We saw two types of dolphin and spent up to the maximum time with each pod. (Time is limited to avoid stressing these beautiful creatures.) Fabio was very good at explaining about them and answering our questions.

    Went during the
first week of March - so many trips being sold that it was hard to tell which would be best, but we opted for this one - 2.5hrs at 25euro pp on a catamaran. They were very efficient, knowledgeable and worked hard to try and locate some dolphins, which after much effort they found and we were treated to a wonderful display just in front of the boat! They were also respectful of the dolphins, trying to keep their habitat as near natural as possible, not feeding them and not spending too much time with the boat following them. Also returned with a guided tour of the coast as we headed back to Funchal. Well worth the money.

Well that was 3 hours of my life I’ll never get back. Picked a bad day for it with the weather being horrible so if the company had any form of moral compass they’d have cancelled the trip but went ahead regardless. Unsurprisingly we saw no whales or dolphins with the guy on the speaker saying it was always going to be highly unlikely to spot them in such poor conditions (so why take us out then if not just to make sure they got our money). Also because of the weather we didn’t stop and snorkel as promised in the description of the tour so basically spent 3 hours bumping up and down in the rocky sea and rain then came back. I fully appreciate they can’t control wildlife and the weather but should’ve cancelled the trip or at least inform us there’d be no snorkelling and a slim chance of seeing anything so let us make the decision whether we wanted to still do it or not. Also the crew weren’t interested at all in speaking to anyone on the boat just huddled up in their little group chatting or on their phones. Supposed to hear all these wonderful facts about the wildlife but heard nothing. Got the odd fact about the Madeira coastline but that was it. Never been so bored. Oh and when we asked for a refund they refused.

Dear Gareth, Thank you for giving us a feed back. Our high priorty is to give, everyone that comes on our boats to have good time, and offer them high quality service. We have a good boat, modern, clean and good crew who cares about our guest wellbeing and our envouriment. If they were on the phone, that is because they were communicating with our spotters whom working on land to try and find the wild life. I am sad to see such bad comments from yourselves. On the day you went out weather was not the best but not the worst either. Madeira has 27 micro tropical climates. Which means weather can change rapidly. Even the best weather forecast apps can get it wrong. So it is easy for it to say we should have informed and we should have canceled. It is a very naive assumption from yourselves to critic our decision. Regarding the wild life, we do say it on every chennels, our wild life policy is, if you are unlucky not to find to wild life in your first trip, which can happen!! it is slim chance but can happen!! you can go again for a second trip just for 10€pp. Right after the trip we had many guest came and booked for another trip and they did not complain. I do find your request of refund is unusual, especially when we do not advirtise for it. I do not know how you come to refund conclusion. It is like going to a restaurant eating your meal and after, you do not like to food and ask for refund. You went 6 people on the trip, because you do not see wild life, because we do not stop for swimm, due to safety conditions, you think you have right to ask for refund is not acceptable for us. This is why we have refused your refund request. Regards Umut

This was a fabulous experience! We sailed in the morning approximately in the direction of the Desertas islands (I think the destination may be different each time). The catamaran is very impressive, just like on the photos. It's quite spacious and comfortable.

About 1 hour into the sailing we were able to stop and watch a pair of pilot whales. I even made some photographs of them from a reasonable distance. After some 30 minutes more a sperm whale was spotted, but quickly went into a deep dive. I was minding our toddler at the moment and the whale disappeared by the time I could take a look. But my wife says she saw the whale splashing water from the blowhole and waiving the tale before diving.

Other than watching the whales the sailing provided ample opportunities for taking some stunning photographs of Madeira from the sea.

The catamaran seems to have some solid advantage of being more stable than a regular boat. My wife suffers from sea sickness. Even being driven in a car often makes her sick. Now, she was still able to enjoy the sailing having taken some seasickness-specific medication beforehand. I was also initially concerned about myself, but the sailing went just fine. Everyone else one the catamaran seemed happy. This obviously depends on the weather, but I still think the catamaran has an advantage over a small boat. We did not need any special clothes, wearing T-shorts (and sunscreen) all the time. This part as well may vary depending on the weather.

    This experience is highly recommended!

The sail on catamaran was pleasant (if you don't get sea sick and the weather is nice). But I find a lot of information here misleading. Basically you sail alongside the coast for 11 kilometres. It is called dolphin and whale watching tour. However chances of spotting a whale on this tour are close to zero. I believe, that you can see dolphins on this tour, but not always. Many people here mentioned, that crew was very helpful, but that I don't find true at all. They were not rude or anything but the only thing they did was, that they told us some safety instructions in the beginning and then they came to tell us that we will not see any dolphins. I think that's a bare minimum not helpfulness per se. Most people on board were sleeping the whole trip so they paid 30 euros for 2 hour long nap.

Dear Avokiral, Many thanks for your feed back. The information we have on the Catamaran is pretty much fixed on every channel. It is nice relaxing cruise with the possibility of seeing the wild life. If you have seen diffrent information I like to know where. Regarding seeing the whales from our Catamaran the chance is around 50% How ever if people are more interested to see the whales we do recommend our Sea Safaris. It is a bit more expensive but it is worth it. Regarding our crew, during the trip they are looking out for the wild life on top the Catamaran trying until the last min to spot the wild life. We hope to join us again and truly hope that we can find you some whales next time. Best regards Umut

Great trip, saw lots and knowledgeable crew.
Crew very helpful, they even stopped to get a hat the blew off into the sea.
We were very lucky as we saw Pilot Whales and Bottlenose dolphins, then on the way back they spotted and stopped to see a Loggerhead turtle having a breather on the surface. Finally, rather than the scheduled swim, all on board opted to see Common Dolphins, which treated is by swimming around the boat. Crew also pointed out the sea birds feeding with the dolphins, Cory's shear water and Madeira petrel (crew excited as a rare siting)
Great spotting by the crew, followed up with great information.
The crew were always on hand to help and answer questions.
(There was a clean toilet as well)

We booked this months in advance and was really looking forward to the trip. Unfortunately we didn’t see anything on the first day and was a little disheartened. We were offered a discount to return another day for €10 each which we did today (27th Aug)

We left the marina in pretty choppy conditions and to be honest I wasn’t expecting to see anything. An hour into our trip most of us were lucky enough to see a bottle nose dolphin jump 2 or 3 times out of the water. The guide said as everyone hadn’t seen it, it didn’t count as a sighting.

Around 15 mins later the best was to come. We saw a Blainville's Beaked Whale. Apparently it’s a pretty rare occurrence to see them close up as their particularly shy.

The crew were amazing and even showed us a booklet containing what’s possible to see and explained about the Whale we had seen.

I’d recommend this to anyone. Worst case scenario is that you don’t see Whales or Dolphins and get a nice boat ride with info about the Madeira coast you pass.

Make sure you give them a second chance. They did all they could to give us the best chance.

    Thank you Magic Dolphin.

I didn’t get a picture as I was recording the moment we saw the whale.
