Overview

Get an introduction to Belgian beer, including what makes it so different from other beers on this Brussels beer tour. Your guide takes you to several local bars in the city to taste four different kinds of Belgian beer, including traditional Trappist ale. Plus, you’ll learn about flavor profiles and brewing techniques from your guide.

What to Expect

This Belgian beer tour includes four beers and starts at an easy-to-find meeting spot in central Brussels near Grand Place. Once you meet with your guide and group, your guide takes you to a bar in the historical area of the city.

As you taste your beer, your guide explains about the flavors profile and history of Belgian beers. Hear about what goes into the brewing process and how that affects the taste. Taste a traditional Trappist ale, a local favorite.

At another, a local hangout, you’ll taste more beers with your guide, gaining more insight into the local beer and bar landscape. When the tour ends, you can stay for more beer (own expense) or leave for your next Brussels experience.

Worth the effort

Tours starts at 6 PM in Scotts bar with is good for a snack and a beer before your tour. Maggie was an excellent host for our large group. You will make new friends quickly. And your knowledge of the beer will improve rapidly.

I can’t remember exactly where we ended, but both the start and finish were an easy walk from the main meeting point for the start of the tour. From the Hilton, down the hill to the town square with the tall buildings.

There was a person on my tour who didn't drink beer and I think they paid for their spot regardless, but I'm not sure, to be honest.

Its about 3 hrs. Two different bars. Very educational, even if you are not a beer drinker. First bar we were given a whole bottle and the 2nd bar a beer flight.
