When we first planned our trip to Florence, we were not planning to do a tour that included the Accademia (we were just going to go see David for ourselves). But now we are glad we did do a tour because we learned so much more about Michaelangelo's personality and approach to his art.

The rest of the walk was very nice as well, and our guide painted an excellent picture of how the city was influenced by the Medici family, and the remnants of their influence can be found all over.

Highly recommend!

My tourguide was Angelo, whose knowledgeable and entertaining storytelling made me relive Florentine history.
Time passed too quickly unfortunately and I’ll be sure to stick with the same tour company next time. Highly recommendable and consider yourself lucky when Angelo leads your tour.

Charles was a fountain of knowledge, so wise and captivating. He spoke on history, culture, art, engineering, politics, psychology, and so much more. Our experience was so much richer because of him. His love of Italy was contagious. I wish he was our guide for all tours. Priceless.

What a great Idea I am so glad we got these tickets because we would of waited for hours otherwise. Certainly worth it so much to see its incredible to think how old all these Artifacts are. A visit I think everyone should see.
Do yourself a favor and get skip the line tickets.

Our guide Antonio was very informative and we learnt a lot throughout our tour. The definite highlight was seeing Michelangelo's David in the Accademia Gallery. However, there seems to be an issue with entering the Duomo now...very long queues to go through a security check. We got into the line and Antonio informed us we would have an hour to wait! He said the Duomo interior wasn't as interesting as the exterior anyway. However, some of the group felt short-changed as the title on Tripadvisor says 'Small-Group Skip the Line Best of Florence Walking Tour with David and the Duomo'...of course, when you read the description in detail, it states 'skip the line' only for the Accademia. As a group, we decided it wasn't worth wasting an hour of the tour waiting to get in, and continued around the exterior of the Duomo, and onto the other areas which were advertised as part of this tour. Admission to the Duomo (if you can get in) is free, so what is also misleading about this tour is that you are under the impression that you are paying for tickets to enter the Duomo (as stated in the 'included' section of tour description) when you are not! Walks of Italy need to update the description for this tour.

We took a Viator tour of Florence yesterday and I must say I was disappointed...not in the guide...she was good but when you read the name of the tour: skip the line David and Duomo walking tour...you think you will see both and it's not the truth. We entered the Gallerie to see David but just walked around the Duomo. As we stand next to the duomo the guide explained that there is a VIP tour for those who wish to go inside. False publicity and the small group is 15 people!
Would not recommand this tour...as I said read the small prints or buy your your directly in Florence.

Hello Madeleine, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us! We rely on our customer's feedback to always improve, so we are always grateful for your comments, both positive and negative. First of all, I'd like to apologize if there was anything in our description that led you to believe we provide skip the line access to the Duomo, as that is not the case. I have personally checked for the misleading passage but was unable to find it. Would you mind forwarding it to us so we can avoid disappointing other guests in the future? We would truly appreciate it. As you stated, for this tour, we do skip the line at the Accademia, but this is not the case at the Duomo. The Management forces everyone to queue for security reasons, and there is nothing we (or any other operator) can do to avoid it. While this has never been a problem before, it did cause very long lines during the last few months, as the number of visitors surpassed all expectations. In regards to the tour itself, we do specialize in small group walking tours and that amount can differ for each tour. This particular tour is 15 people, which is much smaller than most tour operators who take in at the least 30 people for their tour. Again, we are terribly sorry you were not satisfied with this tour, especially since this seems to be the only experience you had with us! We work very hard to ensure the success of our tours and provide only the highest quality services and hope that if you ever return you will decide to walk with us again! Warmest regards, Kat

Our tour guide was Bernardo and he was an excellent guide. Provided so much insight into Michelangelo‘s life and work at the Academia and why David was sculptured as such. Would never have known any of this just by going on our own and Bernardo made it all seem so much real with the background history. He also pointed out places to eat and shop and away from the tourist traps. Although the tour clashed with the Florence marathon (which meant quite a number of roads were barricaded off), he still managed to get us round the city to our various destinations and kept us all entertained with stories when walking to the different places. He made Florence come alive with the part the Medici family played as well as how US general Mark Clark saved Florence from bombing. Engaged us all with the rich history of Florence. Highly recommended tour!

The tour guide Charles was superb. As I am a history major with a strong interest in art history I found he was very knowledgeable. One of the party asked a question about the papal schism which was not directly related to the tour and I waited to see how he would answer. He did not blink and went into a relatively good discussion of the antipope John 23. I was impressed as this demonstrated a much greater depth of understanding of the period than an average canned tour guide. He is genuinely interested in the period, history and art: not just in guiding a tour.

Antonio is a super passionate tour guide which keeps you involved in the whole tour. He seems to know the entire history of Florence. Skipping the line at the David is a huge advantage, as it can take hours to line up and get in.
