My daughter and I booked this tour to see San Gimignano, Sienna and Pisa as we were staying in Florence and we wanted to experience more of Tuscany. This tour was extremely well organized, and all of the staff from beginning to end were very pleasant and helpful. We were led by our tour guide to our tour bus which was operated by Nando. Manda was a very experienced and competent bus driver and was very timely picking us up after we finished each city tour. In addition to the city tours, we had the opportunity to enjoy the family owned organic winery and farm located at Poggio Alloro. We enjoyed four kinds of wine as well as a delicious homemade 4 course meal. We also toured the winery and farm facilities. The tour lasted 12 hours from beginning to end. We were given lots of free time to enjoy each of the locations we visited. We met number of fellow travellers on the bus home significant name contributed to the fun which we had on this trip. However, best of all, our tour guide Gloria was friendly, humourous and very warm and we could not have asked for a better tour guide or a better tour company, walkabout Florence tours. I would strongly recommend this tour and restore company to anybody who has an interest in seeing what Tuscany has to offer.

The trip started off rainy, as we waited for other day trippers and the bus we were getting wet and thinking of what a terrible day we had picked to go on a tour. However, Stefano kept the mood alive with his jokes about how lucky (or unlucky) we were to experience a rainy Tuscany day. By the time we arrived in Siena, our first stop, the sun was shining and it matched Stefano’s mood and vibe. He made the trip fun, interesting, and a learning one as well. I recommend this trip for anyone on a time limit in Tuscany who wants to see and experience breathtaking views, local culture, and a farm to table lunch! The tour takes you to three beautifully unique towns, with a local guide who shares history, stories, recommendations and although time is limited at each stop I t is worth it! If there’s a way to pick your guide (which I don’t think there is) pick Stefano and be ready to fall in love with Tuscany. San Giminiagno is mesmerizing.

A very enjoyable full packed day and our tour leader, Alessandro was brilliant. He made sure that a full bus group of 40 stayed together & kept our attention on the journey with lots of information and humour. A great way to get a taster of Tuscany.
The only down side was that when we got on the bus after the wine tour/lunch, another couple was in our seat & my husband and I had to split up and sit at opposite ends of the bus. This spoiled our experience. I recommend that as COVID is still prevalent, we should all be keeping to the same seats, to minimise the risk. Don't think I would have taken the tour, had I known that there would be seat swapping!

I felt compelled to leave a review as I hope others can use this to benefit from:
This tour was an unforgettable experience and provides plenty of insight into multiple areas of Tuscany. The level of detail and historical context Alessandro provides really adds to the tour! It's refreshing to see that someone truly enjoys his work and is passionate about the areas rich past. Even when the tour had technically ended, Alessandro provides time for a Q&A with the whole bus for them to ask random questions about the area.
As for the package / tour, my girlfriend and I decided to do everything but climb Pisa as we knew we would be walking around a lot...but we went with others who elected to do this and they said it was easier than they expected. It also takes a long time to get to Pisa, so you have an opportunity to rest on the bus beforehand.
Overall, we highly recommend this tour that covers Siena, Lunch (pasta / wine), San Gimignano, and Pisa.

For anyone with limited time in Florence—for that matter, in Italy in general—this is a most excellent way to see a great cross-section of Tuscany in a day. The tour length can initially look daunting (12hrs) but it passes by way faster than one imagines it will. Though all 3 stops were rewarding for their own reasons (Siena for the informative history in the tour, Pisa because it's Pisa), I think my favorite was San Gimigliano; by the time we got there we'd spent a good lunch at a nearby winery with several of the other tour participants, and so when we got the 1.5 hours on our own just continued to spend the time with each other, getting gelato and souvenirs, and taking some really great pictures together. I strongly recommend adding the lunch option when booking; the winery we went to for lunch was beautiful, and the food and wine were delicious and plentiful.
I have a fairly intense fear of heights so did not go up the Tower of Pisa, but for anyone who thinks they might like to do that I'd also recommend adding the pre-booked Pisa ticket option—it will save you time waiting in line to buy your ticket on arrival, and give you more time for taking lots of pictures and maybe even sitting for a coffee and gelato. I also can't say enough positive things about our guide, Chris (I think his full name was Christiano); he was punctual, professional and well-informed. He never let any of our stops run late, and so had us at each of our sites on time and then back to Florence exactly when he told us he would. I highly recommend this company for anyone looking for a great way to have an expanded view of Tuscany for a day, and even more highly recommend Chris as a tour guide. Thank you for a brilliant day!

Amazing 1 day tour of Tuscany jammed packed with some of the top sights in the region - Pisa, Siena, San Gimignano, and a quaint Tuscan winery.
If you're spending a short time in Florence and want the convenience + great value for money then I would highly recommend this tour.
My wife and I did this in late July-20 and have no complaints.
Sarah, our guide, was informative, supportive, and very accommodating to our needs. She went above and beyond during the tour and also gave us tips and information for other locations we were visiting on our trip to Italy (which was again spot on and insightful).
Francesco, the driver, was a fantastic and safe driver. The vehicle was new and very well cleaned - He was always on time and conveniently picking the group up at the closest locations.
If you're looking for a 1 day tour...this is simply it!

Why do this tour when you can rent a car and see all the same things for yourself at your own pace? One word: Alessandro.
The man, the myth, the legend - has just as much energy as he does knowledge (and it's A LOT!!). We were blown away by just how much he knew about every town and site we visited; the history of Florence and Sienna, while simultaneously painting a vivid picture of said towns and making it come to life.
Alessandro is also quite hilarious, especially as he attempts to teach us the proper pronunciation of certain towns. He gives an honest opinion what is worth seeing and doing. Everything he recommended was spot on (I'm still thinking about Gelateria Dondoli in San Gimignano). He also recommends places to buy certain goods, such as leather shoes/bags and places to see outside of the tour that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Another reason to do this tour is not having to worry about driving. Speaking of driving, Ricardo did an absolutely fantastic job at not getting us killed in the windy roads of Tuscany and San Gimignano. We can't thank him enough. Not only did we survive, but he also drove that monster of a bus gracefully enough for me to fall asleep after the long day of seeing, eating and drinking.
I can't recommend this tour enough if you are looking to get some incredible sights in, you love history, and are ready to fill your belly full of truly fresh and authentic Italian cuisine.

I took this Tuscany tour with Olivia, and had a smooth and enjoyable day. I booked another tour with Walkabout the following week. A 12-hour tour with 40+ people can be chaotic, but Olivia had a very calm and sensible presence, and kept us informed throughout the tour. The group was easy to spot waiting just outside the train station with a sign in the morning, and we left within 15 minutes of our meeting time. We were given ear pieces so as to hear our guide as we walked through Siena, and a map and contact number since it is easy to become lost in a crowded foreign city. Olivia gave us many recommendations for places to walk and where we should get coffee or gelato in San Gimignano. I had the best gelato during my time in Italy there. As a solo traveler, I felt very comfortable on this tour and found many opportunities to take scenic photos. If I were to make suggestions for future travelers: bring 50p coins in case you need to use the public WC, and to watch your phone battery. I spotted one place to charge on the bus, but my new iphone battery was draining during the long trip, so be cautious that the bus seats do not come with individual chargers. Grazie mille to the tour guides and the bus driver for a couple of lovely tours!

We booked this tour mainly for Pisa, since we had not been. But Siena and San Gimignano were such great sights, that we actually liked them better than Pisa, where there isn't much to do but they a pic with the leaning tower.
Olivia, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and speaks great English. She kept us engaged during the bus ride and gave us time to explore the towns on our own, which in my opinion is better than walking in a large group the entire time.
Some areas of improvement for the tour company:
Tour group size- We had 40+ people in our group, which does not allow for much social distancing. Everyone wore a mask during the bus ride, and all are required to have a green pass or vaccine card to enter the Siena Duomo, so we assume everyone on the tour was vaccinated. But in general, not as covid safe as other tours we took during our trip.
Siena- the local tour guide was very nice but it was extremely difficult to understand anything she said. Many of us were trying to decipher her words but couldn't. We ended up taking off our ear piece.
San Gimignano- The views from the winery were spectacular, but the lunch itself was not great. It was ok. (You can do the tour and skip the lunch, giving you more time in the town instead). They have plenty of seating room to leave some space between each person, but sat us all close together. Does not make much sense for us all to be wearing masks around eachother in the bus, if we are going to be unmasked and within 5 inches of eachother during lunch. They could keep groups a bit smaller and separate them accordingly during lunch.
Overall, the tour was a great alternative to driving to each town or figuring out transportation on your own. Our guide very professional. Thank you, Olivia!

This tour was excellent. Even though we had to battle the rain and the cold out tour guide ALEX kept the tour interesting and made sure everyone had everything they needed along the journey.
Through the bad weather and narrow twisting roads our driver Fabio was a professional who kept us safe despite other crazy drivers on the road.
Thank you Alex and Fabio for an excellent tour an amazing lunch leaving us with memories we will never forget.

Hi, I am actually a bit confused by the description about the options. I reserve for "Full Tour: Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa and a visit to a Chianti winery with lunch and wine tasting included", but it's also stating "If the tour option without Pisa is chosen, this last part of the tour is not included in the itinerary." So the option I choose means visiting Pisa or not? I am interested in visiting Pisa to see the tower but no intension for climbing the tower.. Is this what I want or I will totally miss out Pisa?

For the option without a meal included/winery, what is the itinerary? Do we still visit the winery, but need to bring our own food? Or do we spend more time in the other locations (or just skip the winery and return to Florence earlier)?
Finally, does this package include a visit to the Pisa?
Thank you! Looking forward!

Thank you for your message and your interest in our Tuscany Tour.
The option without winery is the same as the regular tour but skips the visit, wine tasting and lunch at the organic farm/winery. You will spend more time in San Gimignano instead.
Yes this full day tour also includes Pisa.
Kind regards
The Walkabout Team
My wife and I would love to take this tour but to go on our own in Siena. Is there enough time to climb the Tower of Mangia and see the Duomo before leaving?

Hello Derek,
If you do the tour between April and end of October, the guide will meet you back in Siena at around 11.45am.
You can do both Mangia Tower and Duomo, but the timings are a bit tight since the Mangia Tower open only at 10am and the Duomo at 10.30am.
Kind regards - The Walkabout Team
