Chris and Manolo with our driver Antonio were a superstar team, very knowledgeable about Cinque Terre and the areas on the way to this amazing land. My husband and my 19 year old son enjoyed the whole day despite being exhausted after four hours of sleep. We traveled from Bologna to catch this tour and met them at the train station. We took a double decker tour bus with our guides who made the almost two hour ride very pleasant by explaining the history of the surrounding areas, recommendations for future excursions into those areas, anecdotes, history, etc. You could tell that Manolo and Chris enjoyed doing this. During the ride they offered to set us up with lunch (additional fee) with a local restaurant with a very nice view and yummy food. My husband and I took the hike while our son opted for the comfy ride. The hike is very difficult in the sense that the steps are uneven and made of stone, good, comfortable shoes are a must. Once up there is a rewarding shop where you can purchase fresh OJ and an icee with OJ and lemon juice, both very refreshing. Hiking down is a challenge due to the steepness and the uneven stone steps, once again good knees and good shoes recommended. We found that going down was more challenging than going up. The views along the hike are worth it, so if you are in good to average physical health, I will highly recommend it. The day was sunny with some wind that felt refreshing as you are exerting yourself. The day was good weather wise, so we were able to catch the boat to our last town, the ride though is windy and a jacket is highly recommended. Overall, the whole experience was worth it. On the way back Chris and Manolo took the time to answer any questions and provide recommendations when requested about places to eat or visit. I would recommend Chris and Manolo for any of your excursion needs, they are passionate and very knowledgeable, love them both.

This was a great trip and absolutely worth the price of admission.

Our guide Manolo was helpful, informative and enjoyable. He gave plenty of options to wander by ourselves or follow him on informative tours through each town. He also had great suggestions on how to see/do almost 'all' of what we were personally interested in (spritz's/shopping/gelato/anchovies/etc) within the time constraints that we had.

We opted for the extra hike in the middle which, admittedly was a lot of walking (about 2 extra km I believe), but nothing too terrible, and definitely worth it for the views.

I read plenty of reviews and the few complaints that I read about seemed completely unwarranted (such as the walking TO the bus from the train station, the title of the trip clearly states that walking is involved on this tour.) The other main complaint that I read about was the lunch portion, due to this we opted out of the lunch prepared for those that choose to purchase it and chose to explore a little on our own. We probably paid a little more than we would have had we purchased the optional meal, but we enjoyed the experience of roaming and popping our heads into each different spot to choose on our own. Our guide even gave us a great suggestion as to where we could eat with amazing views if we got our food 'take away.'

The ONLY drawback to this tour on our end was how little time was spent in the last of the five towns (or 'lands') as this was just as the sun was setting. The timing was prime for photographs of the beautiful buildings and scenery. (dusk and dawn are the best times for landscape photos in terms of lighting) This is no way a criticism of the tour guide or the trip in it's entirety as I completely understand that we needed to stay on a particular schedule to ensure a fully enjoyable day as well as the fact that had we come at a different time of year the lighting wouldn't have been the same.

It does turn out to be roughly a 13 hour day so packing snacks and a water bottle are a must. Ultimately it would have been great to spend more time in each of the 'lands', but there are only so many hours in one day. If you have more time at your disposal, there are other options, but if you only have one day/opportunity to visit Cinque Terra, I can't imagine a better option than the tour provided by Manolo and Walkabout Florence.

A very well-organized and long tour (13 hours) with Christian and Gabriel. They broke up a rather large group into two to provide better service which was much appreciated. Christian presented the group with a lot of interesting and insightful history of the region in general and Cince Terre specifically. Be prepared for a long trip especially if the day is hot, sunny, and humid. Use of bathrooms at the train stations and train tickets are part of the price. However, you will need to pay to use the bathroom at the embarking station at La Specia which is right after the 2 hour bus ride (or you can buy something at the cafe and use their bathroom but the line can be long). We brought along our own lunch so I can't say much about the food in the towns, but I would imagine its pretty similar anywhere you go in Italy. The crowds in each town can be annoying but hey its the high point in Summer and it was also the August holiday for Italians. Save the swimming for that last stop before getting on the boat ride for the return trip (awesome coastal views)! There are free showers and some free spots by the rocks at the end of the beach.

We booked the transportation only option on this tour. We had the impression that we would just be using the bus to get us there and home. We were pleasantly surprised when Chris (the tour guide) talked us through getting our train tickets and gave us a detailed map on what to see. On our map he wrote what each village was known for and it made our day super easy since we knew exactly what to look for in each village. We also received a mini tour on the bus ride out about places we were passing in the city as well as tips on what to do in Cinque Terre! We had an amazing day and experience because of Chris and everyone with walkabout tours. Even though we did not book the whole tour day we learned a lot and had all the information we needed to have a successful day in Cinque Terre. We are very happy with our experience and 100% recommend booking this tour (or just the transportation)!!

This was an excellent tour that I would highly recommend! Even though this was a large tour, Christian was an excellent guide in making the tour still feel personable. There were many opportunities during the tour to talk to him and ask him many questions. There was one part where we had to rush to get on a train (not Christian's fault - just the timing of it) and Christian as well as the bus driver were excellent in getting us all where we needed to go safely even under that pressure. Christian demonstrated professionalism, as well as friendliness making the tour run smoothly and pleasantly. It was also neat because the hike allowed us to meet other people in our tour group as well! This is a real incline hike, but not difficult. When we did it in November, there were parts of the trail that were more difficult due to recent rain, but it was nothing scary - we just had to go slow and take our time. Dinner is not included in this tour, but the place that is recommended is pretty cheap and I would highly recommend going because it's excellent authentic pesto pasta with a beautiful view of the ocean! Thank you Christian for making this tour so fun!

This was a great day-long trip to Cinque Terre from Florence that was highly organized, yet provided time to explore each city on your own. Our group met at a tour bus at the Florence train station and broke into two groups. Our tour guide, Manolo was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations for snacks and beach time. There was optional hiking and I for sure thought I would go hiking but it was 32c and I opted for beach time instead (I'm really glad I had that option). It's a long day (about 12-14 hours) but so worth it - we got to enjoy the beach, see each city, take trains and a boat!

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Italy. Aside from the stellar views, history, and food, our tour guide, Cris, was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Communication was clear from the start and meeting up with the group and him was a very organized and smooth process. His storytelling was exceptional and you could really tell he had a passion for sharing about Italy’s history and culture. We were able to hit all the main spots in Cinque Terre and spend just enough fine in each town to really soak in the surrounding beauty. The hike along the coast was unbeatable and a great way to burn off the delicious pasta we had haha! It was a wonderful, eventful, and tiring day, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Stop thinking about it and just book this experience already! You won’t regret it.

We did this the Monday after Easter, so maybe the heavy traffic/high volume of people in the towns/trains was a factor. Our day was LONG (14 1/2 hours total) and hurried (at every stop we were told “go enjoy this place but don’t be late for our next meet-up in 20-30 minutes to go to the next place”. Basically, we barely had time to snap a few pictures (which ARE beautiful) as we shuffled through the crowded streets to get to the train station, to be counted again, to wait for the stragglers, to pile into a train, to do it all over again. The hike in the middle was beautiful, 2.2 miles, half up and half down. We’re of average fitness and huffed & puffed here and there and it felt really good to be moving. We took a double decker bus there, probable 70 people total, which were split between the two tour guides. Our guides Guido and Mano did their best but I think they would agree that this wasn’t a great day due to the constant rush. As a result, we barely had time to use the bathroom/eat (other than the planned lunch), so the 2 hour bus ride home that night I was pretty hungry and really had too pee!

The Cinque Terre Day Trip was one of the best trips I went to so far! Not only the view was breathtaking but our guide Alessandro was excellent too! He told us so many interesting things not only about the Cinque Terre but also about the italian culture, history, food and other villages we passed by on the bus. Moreover, he can speak 5 languages very fluently ( english, italian, french etc) which is not very common ! But what made the journey even more worthwile is the fact that Alessandro was sooo passionate about everything he told us ! In fact you couldn't stop listening to him and he made everyone laugh. During the whole day he was very charming, kindhearted and always carefully looking out for every single person who joined the trip!
At the end of a very pleasent but very tiring day he still offered to share his knowledge about everything else one wanted to know about italy in general !

The hiking part was very tiring but very worthwhile as you had a beautiful view !
Also, even if you have not much time in each Terra you have an overall view of each Terra + you guide tells you a lot about each Terra
If you want to explore each Terra more deeply and with more time I wouldnt recommend this trip for you.

Bottom line I would recommend this trip a 100 % and if you have Alessandro as guide it will be even more worthwile ! I want to thank Alessandro again for the lovely day!

Stephan and Manolo were amazing!
Knowledgeable and attentive. I was traveling with my mom and several of her friends (who are older) and Manolo paid extra attention to make sure we got on and off the train and were able to keep up with the group. He also made sure the ones that were tired had a taxi to get them from the train to the bus when the tour was finished so they didn’t have to walk another mile.
This tour far exceeded my expectations! We were able to see all 5 villages (which is practically unheard of!) and hear about the history and nuances of each.
(On a tour to Siena & San Gim today our guide was shocked we went to all 5 villages in one day!)
Weather permitting your tour ends with a boat ride from the 5th town (Manterosso Al Mare) to the first town (Riomaggiore) and ours was the perfect end to the day. I recommend grabbing a bottle of wine in a shop in Manterosso al Mare to enjoy on your boat ride!
