Our guide Salvo was incredible. We were lucky to have Salvo as our guide during two trips - one to Syracuse / Ortigia / Nota and another one to Etna with wine tasting included. Overall experience was incredible, Salvo made us feel so welcome and provided valuable information about Sicily and the places we visited.
We were picked up from our apartment right on time and it was very convenient to travel with a minibus having a relatively small group of people. I strongly recommend to take day trips from Catania and visit these beautiful and remarkable sights. Dealing with Etna Tribe company was easy and pleasant. Thanks!

Our guide Nando was excellent! He was kind enough to pick Us up at our accomodation in the morning. He was nice, attentive and patient with the group the whole time. He planned the whole day near Catania: in Noto, in Ortigia, Siragusa, Neapolis. He speaks fluent english and spanish and he payed attention to repeat everything in all languages. He shared a good amount of knowledge about everything on the road. He even showed Us a great local restaurant for lunch and left enough free time for Us in every town. All in all it was a one of a kind experience. It would be a pity to miss it.

Pick up and return on time. Corona-proof travel in these times with 2 mini-vans for 10 people in total, wearing masks inside all the time. Professional and friendly guides. Partly guided tour, partly free time, enough time for questions, time for lunch.

Excellent value tour of must-see Syracuse/Ortigia/Noto in one day. Our guide was super nice. The jeep could have been cleaner, and it took a bit to get the tour started (I think we were waiting for another group to join), but couldn't complain for the price.

If there was a MINUS STARS, that would be my choice.

We were completely dissatisfied with the trip, how we were treated, and that the guide really wasn't very informative. First it was supposed to be an English speaking tour. Wish I had read these reviews prior to this and would have known that things would be bad. Our guide had Italian speaking people in the front seat of the car and spent the entire trip going down and back speaking to them in Italian, while every single other guest spoke English. Instead of spending split time, he devoted his time to speaking with them 99.9% of the time so we learned nothing about the areas as we traveled down to Noto & Syracuse. I got more information off the internet while I sat there listening to the conversation in the front seat in Italian.

Okay that aside now, let's talk about the information that we got from the tour guide on our trip. When we stopped at destinations, of course our Italians got first talk. It appeared he spent lots of time in Italian telling them stuff. Then English began and it was again, bad information (tell you why in a moment) and was short. Then he would send us 'off to see the museums inside with no information from him' as we watched other tour groups have their guide walk them around discussing important details. We even volunteered to pay his ticket to have him come inside and talk to us, he refused. Then when my daughter was down in Noto, had asked about a fountain he pointed out, which he knew "NOTHING ABOUT" and said she was wrong. We later checked our internet again to find out she was CORRECT!

Every single museum we went in, he stayed outside and spoke to his other 'tour guide friends.' When he dropped us off for lunch in Noto, he had no clue what would be a good place to eat. Then when we got back in the broken down van it was over 110 degrees. Yes the AC unit fans where all jacked up and it was dirty and old. Since he was doing nothing but flapping his gums to his friends, it would have been nice to enter a vehicle that was cool, not hotter than outside and he could have easily done so.

Our last stop I was so angry, when he started with his Italians, I just stepped in and said, "What time do you want us back? Because your information is useless and a waste of my time now."

Summary: this was transportation down there and back and not much more than that. A train would have costs us both 10 Euros vs 220 Euros. The tour guides don't know their history and they don't enter any of the facilities you go into (such as museums) so you're not getting any added value. So save yourself the money and take the train and use the internet before I would EVER USE THIS SERVICE, Especially stay away from ETNA TRIBE! Oh at the end of it all, he wanted a tip. Here’s one: Learn your HISTORY so you can tell others about this beautiful country!!!! (sadly, I did give me a mere 10 Euros) Simone was our tour guide and these were not just simple mistakes. If he knew so much as ETNA TRIBE thinks, then why are they not going into museums and telling us about the things. Simone’s knowledge of the streets was minimal at best. We knew it’s a baroque city, must have heard that word used over and over because that’s all that we recall of the tour and his explanations. The Baroque architecture here, the baroque statue there, the city is mostly all Baroque.

You would think you would hire experienced knowledgeable tour guides. I would not recommend this tour to anyone, more importantly using the ETNA TRIBE to do it!.

We went on the Siracusa, Ortigia & Noto tour with Danilo. Got picked up at the hotel on time in a small minivan seating max 8 guests. We got some info on the drive and it was a nice mix of info & free time at each location. The day started at around 0830 and we were back in Catania around 6pm - the drive was approx slightly more than 1 hr to Noto and then the same from Siracusa back to Catania - Noto-Siracusa/Ortigia was approx 30 min. Noto is a small well preserved beautiful gem and Ortigia is much bigger and a similarly beautiful touristy spot. You can get to Siracusa by train yourself but I opted for the simple choice of paying more for an easy pickup/drive plus a guide. Etna Tribe was good - confirmation came quickly, they didnt email just before the tour as a reminder but when I emailed them to double confirm the reply came quickly. If you found this review helpful, appreciate a vote !

I really enjoyed this day trip, especially the Syracuse archaeological park, and the 5th century BC columns that are incorporated into the Cathedral of Syracuse! Definitely a great way to spend a free day after wrapping up three weeks traveling around southern Italy, the Aeolian Islands, and Sicily!

Overall we thought the trip, while adequate and as described in the brochure, was expensive (€85 per person) and didn’t offer as much value for money as expected. Unfortunately we couldn’t seem to work out how to get to the locations by train, which would have been our preferred option so it was Hobson’s choice. I will outline our day, and leave it to the reader to decide whether it’s worth the price or not! We were picked up from our Hotel in Catania and joined 6 other passengers in the vehicle, which was a midrange minibus (one of the seatbelts didn’t work however) The driver was pleasant, with a good command of English and told us what the plan for the day was. Initially we drove to Noto, which took about an hour and a half along the motorway, and he gave some information about the history of Sicily. At Noto we were shown the main street, a map was pointed at and we were told there was a Cathedral, a Convent, a Theatre which we could go and look at, and to return in a hour to the vehicle. We then drove towards Syracuse, and our first stop was the Archaeological Park, where we were given tickets & a map and again left to our own devices to wander around and then reconvene with the group at a specified time. We got back in the van, and trundled off to Syracuse and across to Ortigia (a district of Syracuse that is an Island) where we were handed over to another guide and amalgamated into a much larger group (not sure how big but possibly 25 -30 people in total) who took us on a walking tour for an hour to various historical buildings (two of which we went in) Because of the size of the group, and the fact that the guide spoke in everything in English and then again in Italian it was difficult to take it in much of what he said. Once that was over our driver then gave us an hour to wander around, and we took the opportunity to have a drink and something to eat in one of the many seafront restaurants, before returning to the van to drive back to Catania. However, if you take out the cost of the ticket to the Archaeological Park and the walking tour (I’m guessing €30 pp tops) bearing in mind there were 8 of us, it was a really just an expensive taxi ride, particularly as a great deal of it involved us wandering around under our own steam.
