If you opt for the cable car and a 4WD minibus, reach the crater: your mountain guides can show you the spots where Etna is at her most active. Angelo was an excellent guide!! Very friendly, knowledgeable, and a great driver - felt very safe with him. If you’re limited on time in Sicily this is a great tour to tick off two things off your list to see Etna and Taormina in one day.
While it was a packed day it didn’t seem too rushed for me. The morning we visited Etna (as explained by the company in the description of the tour) it’s an additional cost to ride the cable car if you wish to go to the top of the volcano. (I can’t remember if it’s 63 or 67€). When you take the cable car up, you’ll then ride a bus to the top and a guide will greet you and take you around for about 45 minutes - 1 hour. Or if you don’t want to ride to the top, your EtnaTribe guide will walk you around one of the other volcanoes at a lower elevation (which is included the price of the tour.) I opted to take the cable car up. Like many have said, it is very windy and cool at the top. A hooded light jacket would be good. Oh and something to protect your eyes like sunglasses because the wind kicks up the dust and rocks and it’s not pleasant.
After Etna, we stopped in a small village on the way to Taormina. We did the honey tasting which was nice. You can shop the local products after the tasting.
Then to Taormina. Such a lovely place! You have 2 hours free time here. It was honestly too hot for me to check out the Greek theatre (with no shade and too many bags of gifts I purchased 😄 to carry with me) but I know others did and enjoyed it.
Bring plenty of water and snacks if needed. Although there’s no official stop for lunch you have time in Taormina to eat but since we only have 2 hours there and you might want to shop and check out some of the other sights, might be good to pack some food. At Etna, there’s a shop there with food and drinks so you can buy some snacks there before or after the volcano hike.
I really enjoyed this tour. Learned a lot and had a pleasant time exploring this part of Sicily. Would recommend!

What a good time and most of it because our tour guide, Nando, was very personable, knowledgable, and multilingual (not to mention a careful, patient, and experienced driver). First of all, please check through to see what is included and excluded from the tour. Like if you want to go on the cable car or minibus further up Mt Etna (pending weather conditions), that costs more. So check out what exactly you're buying beforehand. Second, bring some chewing gum or something for little ones to drink on the way down from the mountain as the pressure on the eardrums can cause difficulty for some children/adults. Third, if you have hiking boots rather than just trainers/sneakers, they are handy on the mountain and in the cave. You can leave them in the van when you visit the farm shops and Taormina. My husband and I found a little park near where we were to meet the guide (Porta Catania) and watched the sun begin to disappear behind Mount Etna while in Taormina just outside the elegant Excelsior Palace Hotel. It's free and the view was lovely. Finally, we were quite an international group and it was pleasant to have companions you would see out and about when we were allowed free time in Taormina.

prompt pick up, enthusiastic and engaging guide (Dan) from the get go, Mt Etna itself was amazing, recommend going up on the cable car if it's a clear day as is a once ina lifetime trip. This was only part of it, Dan took us to a small village for a delicious local lunch, Taoromina itself is beautiful but very touristy. All in all a fabulous day, highly recommended, thank you Dan (and for the bonus cannoli stop!)

Giuseppe (Joseph) was an amazing guide, helpful and
enthusiastic, as he told us the stories and geology of
the area. Mount Eta was breathtaking as usual, you
have the option to take the cable car up to 2,800m up
(€65 extra) but if you don't want to do this like we
didn't, you're still getting your money's worth! We
walked around the edge and went into a crater
instead. We even got taken up to a quiet spot where
you could hear Mama Eta rumbling and exploding!
Taormina was wonderful too, a lot more clean and
touristy than Catania in my opinion, and the taste
testing was lovely, especially the honey. Try the
pistachio honey if you go!
I would recommend this tour to anyone. I'll remember
this experience for the rest of my life!

Great tour. Was just us and the tour guide felt very safe - he was driving us especially up the windy roads up to etna and Taormina - and felt personal like we got our money’s worth. Taormina was beautiful fully recommend doing this excursion. We got 2 hours free time here so we grabbed lunch and had a walk around. Would have been nice to have an extra hour free time so we could go to the Greek theatre (as the restaurant we went to ended up being there for 1 hour and by time we knew it we only had 30 mins left until meeting the tour guide). Also the Greek theatre is 10 euro for an adult which we didn’t realise but as we had limited time left we didnt want to pay 20 euro for 20 mins of seeing it.

The tour was great, Danilo our tour guide was wonderful. My wife is disabled and he made sure to take the time she needed for a great experience. The weather was cool and rainy so our views were not very good, but Danilo’s descriptions and education was excellent making it worth the trip.

The guide was very kind so does the driver. They did share a lot explainations for the local culture, food, momuments. However, though i knew about there would be an extra fee to pay to go higher in Etnea with the telecabine and the bus, but they should have make it clear for us that even paying a higher price (67 compared to 30 euros), both can not bring you to see the lave and there was almost no differences between the option of 67 vs 30 euros. just you can have the bus to bring you to the higher altitude for about 5 min for an equal view of the volcano😂😂.

Finally, as a trip for touristes, i knew the degustation of local food is generally for commercial purpose to stimulate the shopping. But when they felt that we didn t intend to buy amything the first honey factory, the second local alcool and wine degustation was removed as well from.the programme, WHAT A PITY!

In a words, the price is higher than my expectations due to cancellation of the program and luck of transperance.

best guide ever !!! Grazie Giuseppe 👌🏼 He was very funny, he is from Catania and knew lots of things and he made our day even if it was rainy and cold ! i loved the hike but wish i could have gone up walking (not difficult enough for me so if you like big hikes be sure to do the extra hike up) but also if you want to see the volcano and the scenes and hike a little but not be exhausted then this is for you. Also the wine tasting part was nice to see but it was just one wine really and 3-4 honey and few mermelade bites on bread so its more like a visit to a place where they make very nice homemade goods and you can buy. Nothing like buying under pressure but also not really a wine tasting to me ...

I feel bad for putting the last comment about the tasting because i wish i could give 10/10 just because of Giuseppe but i have to be honest so they improve their tour and if you sell wine tasting then you have to offer more than a wine a explain it well to the people :P

i loved it anyway ! Taormina is nice. i like the fact that you are free to do whatever you want for 2 hours because im not a group person so much. had lunch and aperol then visited the town. it was enough time because its very fancy and expensive for me but its beautiful so worth it. we chose the city visit so if you just wanna chill you should chose the sea (you gotta chose between sea or city since they are far apart and lots of stairs)

Anyway ! would 100/100 recommend to anyone if you want a long day worth your money. if you want something sportive maybe not so much and just go on a long trek but i would still go with them and just ask personally for something more difficult! and dont forget to ask for Giuseppe ! (if they happen to have many Giuseppe which might be the case, ask for the one who lived in England and brought a car from Malta cause i dont remember his surname)
👌🏼 Grazie see you soon !!! 💗

The tour was practically a private one, as due to the COVID crisis there were very few tourists. The guide was friendly, he drove safe, and told good stories. The trip does not include mounting to the top crater, that would have been 66 EUR extra per person.
Taormina was wonderful - especially now half-empty. There is great food there.
We did not stop at Isola Bella, at the end.

We absolutely loved this tour.
Our guide Francis was knowledgeable, friendly and kept us entertained with his humour and good natured disposition. He was punctual, well organised and explained all aspects of the tour thoroughly.

The only disappointment was at times it was difficult to hear some commentary due to road noise and Francis did not have a microphone.

Overall a great experience and we would thoroughly recommend this tour.
