Overview

Lines can be long at the Doge’s Palace, home to the celebrated Bridge of Sighs. Escape the lines and see the highlights in record time on a tour ideal for anyone who loves history but has limited time in Venice. Besides the Bridge of Sighs and the prison where Casanova was once held, see art by Renaissance masters including Titian.

What to Expect

Skip the lines to enter the Doge’s Palace, then meet your local guide. Travel back in time as you visit the lavish Doge’s Apartments, the spacious courtyards and, of course, the palace dungeons, which once housed the famous lover Casanova. See works by Renaissance masters, including Veronese, Titian, and Tintoretto, and discover the artistic and cultural background that inspired them.

After the Opera Museum, the Giants’ Staircase, the Lodge Atrium, the Golden Staircase, and the Institutional Chambers, walk across one of Venice’s most famous landmarks, the Bridge of Sighs—so called for the convicts who journeyed across it into prison.

Myself and my 12 year old son took part in this tour recently and were very impressed. The organisation was excellent, we were issued with a radio and headset so the tour guide could communicate to everyone in the tour party. There were several tours...More
