Our guide, Francesca, was incredible! Such a great tour full of interesting information and breathtaking views. Delicious focaccia to munch on as we walked/talked. We had people stop while we were making pesto to watch us, followed by one of the best lunches I have ever had. I would recommend this tour to anyone, especially if they are lucky enough to have Francesca as their guide.

Fabulous trip from start to finish. The delightful Gabriel looked after us so well. Collected us in Santa Margarita, seated us altogether on the top deck of the boat so he could give us the historical information on the way to Portofino. Lovely walking tour, visited the bakery, visited the church, lots of opportunities for photos. Lots of amusing anecdotes and history. We finished off making pesto on the waterfront with light lunch and glass of wine. Superb.

This was an excellent tour of Portofino and well worth every penny. We were a family of four and it was just us from the UK and another four from Atlanta, US. Francesca was the most incredible guide; so knowledgable and really passionate about the area and Portofino. Francesca is truly local to Santa Margherita so knew really interesting facts about the town, such as where there are two basilicas. The tour starts off in Santa Margherita by the ferry pier where we took the ferry to Portofino. After a brief walk around the Piazzetta we walked up to the basilica and learnt some really interesting facts about Portofino and it’s famous residents, both past and present. After we came down the steps we then went and got our focaccia before going to see Portofino’s special “secret” transport system — I don’t want to spoil it but it was very much appreciated in the heatwave!!! Due to the extreme temperatures she constantly went out of her way to find us shade and she could sense our 8-yr old was flagging a bit and got him the most enormous focaccia from the shop! We then went to a lovely restaurant (La Gritta) where we made pesto (harder than you think!) and then had the most amazing lunch and a cheeky glass of wine. There Francesca left us to enjoy our stay in Portofino — I just wish I’d got the name of the wine she recommended in Santa Margherita as I would have liked to have bought some. Honestly. A truly fantastic experience!!

Nothing short of spectacular! This isn't a tour, it's an experience. Our guide, Francesca, was knowledgeable and showed my family around the beautiful area. We ate focaccia, made pesto, and we're fully immersed in all this experience has to offer. I highly recommend!

Fabulous! Highly recommend this excursion (my first booked through TA). Francesca is charming and well-organized. She sent us a message morning of trip to confirm departure location and was there early to greet us with ferry tickets in hand. She provided both historic details as well as current fun facts about Portofino as we walked around. She was thoughtful about finding us shade and other cool spots any time she stopped to give us more information. Pesto making was a highlight at restaurant right on water (great location) where you also eat a delicious light lunch. She was also extremely helpful providing advice about future one-day excursions to Cinque Terre, including which towns are best to visit and the pros and cons of the various ways to get there and when. This tour felt personal and Francesca clearly loves Portofino (and Santa Margherita) the way only a local can. This is a great way to spend a few hours if you are planning to visit Portofino. I went with my 22 year old daughter and there was another lovely family of four with a 16 and 12 year old with us.

Our group of four had the BEST experience with our tour guide,Gabriel, all around Portofino! With a short ferry ride we were able to see all around the shore and with the walk we learned many interesting Tibits of this beautiful place. With a stop at Canale bakery for the most tasty focaccia bread presented by the owner who’s family has had the bakery for over 100 years! Delicious and served warm!
Topped off with pesto making by the water followed by lunch I can only say this is a MUST do on your trip!
Some strenuous walking is required…but no worries ….if someone can not do the walk to the church….sit and enjoy a expresso by the water while you wait
