About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- amandahB6358WT0 contributionsCook with a localI had the great fortune to take the Cook with a Local class. The local chef, Cristina, was warm and welcoming and taught me several key secrets of classic Parma cooking. Her home and kitchen are truly beautiful. The language barrier posed no problem for us, as she did a great job of showing technique and the beautiful simplicity of allowing the ingredients to shine. Be sure to show up hungry! She is sure to stuff you with many tortelli.Written 5 March 2024
- O6434HJlisaj0 contributionsGreat experiences in Parma!!While on our trip to Italy, we spent several days in the lovely city of Parma. Our tours and experiences through Food Valley were perfect. We began with a private cooking class with Christina - the experience of cooking and eating dinner in the cook's home was so much fun and the food was wonderful. While in Parma we also went on a tour of a Parmigiana Reggiano factory, a Prosciutto di Parma producer tour and lunch at a Agriturismo - all were very informative and the food was great! We also went to Modena where we had a guided visit and tasting lunch at a traditional Acetaia - as everything else, this was a great experience as well. We topped off the day by visiting the Ferrari museum and my husband got to test drive a car. The guides for each of our experiences were friendly, punctual and informative. Even with a last minute change of one of our guides, everything was seamless. Our tours were so personal and we can't say enough good things about each experience.Written 19 November 2023
- thefullpassport0 contributionsBig Fives Private Tour Was Excellent! We chose The Big Fives private tour and it was the perfect introduction to Emilia-Romagnan cuisine! Our guide, Monica, expertly toured us through the making of parmigiano reggiano cheese, culatello (such a treat!), various wines, and prosciutto before we visited a fifth-generation balsamic vinegar operation on our own. We even got to stop for photos of the impressive Castello di Torrechiara along the way. Monica was excellent, the food was superb, and it was great getting to try so many iconic Parma foods in a single day. Note: Drive times between destinations can be up to an hour, which we didn't mind but can apparently be frustrating for some. We were just excited to see more of Italy!Written 17 November 2023
- Tom G0 contributionsA new appreciation for the love and commitment put into Italy’s famous foods!A full day that was very informative and fun. The private tour was pricey but well worth it! Our guide was informative, patient and pleasant and our driver was great as well. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for something a little different and informative, especially if you love Italian cuisine!Written 23 October 2023
- O3937SRjeank0 contributionsTerrible experienceI did already and you threw it out. I guess you don’t take complaints only good reviews more reason I won’t come to your store. Bad BROCOLI Cheddar soup like thick mush dumped in the bowl = girl tells us to sit at a table and they will come around and call your name - no they let it sit on the counter and get cold - poor training -where is the manager that he didn’t notice the food not being picked up. And get your employees on the same page as to how people are suppose to get their food.Written 18 October 2023

- dianarK4763YY0 contributionsE-bike tour ParmaI had high expectations for this e-bike tour and they were exceeded. Visiting a working farm outside Parma was the highlight. We were shown the animals, heard about life on a small farm and were graciously offered delicious and generous samples of cheese, honey, bread , wine: all products of the farm. E-biking through the beautiful countryside, we ended up at a wonderful winery. A tour and an amazing lunch featuring specialties of the region and 3 different wines. Our guide Luca was great: friendly , informative and made the tour very special.Written 21 September 2023

- travelmakesitbetter0 contributionsA Food Lover's DreamThis tour was a big splurge for my partner and I, but it was worth it. This really felt like a very special, immersive exploration of the Emilia Romagna food culture with a full day experience, comfortable air conditioned car with a professional and personable driver, and a real local tour guide who was knowledgeable about the topics and region. It felt like a foodie's dream being able to watch Parmigiano Reggiano cheese actually being made, and learn about the process of the creation of Prosciutto di Parma and balsamic vinegar while also meeting the producers. Having a break with a lovely outdoor lunch with local wine at a beautiful gem of a family restaurant provided a great opportunity to rest and ask more questions of our guide. While I was on the fence initially about the investment for just two people this experience really felt very unique and truly added to our visit of the region and our appreciation and respect for its food and culture.Written 16 July 2023
- kmart620 contributionsLovely day in ParmaLoved the Parma visit-Parmesan cheese & ham. The family balsamic business was fantastic as well. Lunch location was just ok. Would suggest a step up to the lunch-honestly just a loaf of nice bread with the cheese & ham along with a bottle of chilled wine in one of the beautiful grassy areas along the way would have been better than the restaurant.Written 14 June 2023

Very interesting and we had some delicious samples at the end of our tours! We were then taken to a lovely restaurant with amazing views for lunch. Again delicious! Fabulous food and wine. We were then returned to our hotel in Bologna. Our guide was fantastic and very informative and patient with our group! It was a great day and we would definitely recommend this tour!Written 6 June 2023

We did the self-driving tour of the Parmesiano-Regiano and Parma ham processing plants. The tour guide spoke great English and was very informative and professional. We really loved seeing all of the wheels of cheese, learning about how they are made and how it is decided which ones are premium. Several of our party did not enjoy the Parma ham tour as much, as the odor in the plant was quite overwhelming (no fault of the tour company). I would definitely recommend this tour company and the Cheese tour! The self drive was perfect for us, as we do not like getting on a crowded bus. We simply met the guide at the cheese plant and followed her to the ham plant afterward. The tastings were generous portions and very delicious!

Hi, thank you so much for the detailed review! Since you are visiting an actual manufacturer, of course you will see, taste and smell the actual product! Not everyone likes the smell. Some people don’t like Parmigiano Reggiano too, so it’s super personal :) I hope you enjoyed eating it anyway!

We loved our private tour!
We were picked up in Bologna and taken to the Parma Factory and then taken to the Prosciutto Factory! Giacomo was an amazing guide. So friendly and knowledgeable. Our driver Roberto was an amazing driver as well. Picked us up right on time and took us everywhere.
The tours were amazing and much at the restaurant we went to was fantastic.
The final stop at the balsamic vinegar shop was outstanding.
The highlight of our stay and would recommend you book this if you haven’t already!

This was an amazing tour. Exactly what we hoped for. Riccardo our guide and Giorgio our driver were amazing. They were so accommodating as was Miriam from Food Valley. I had questions and she answered and accommodated them all. If you are interested in the processes of Parmegiano Reggiano, Parma Prosciutto and Modena Balsamic Vinegar, this tour is for you. One of the best days we spend in Italy!

Fun, informative, and tasty. The tour guide will teach you all there is to know about the cheese making and ham making processes at two beautiful locations a short drive away from each other. Both tours end with a tarting and explanation of different types of cheese and ham. Great experience

We had a wonderful time on the tour. It was such a cool experience to see the process of how the parmigiano reggiano and the prosciutto de parma are made. Our tour guide, Simonetta, was so knowledgeable and nice! We got lost driving to meet her, and she patiently waited for us until we arrived. She also was super sweet and took pictures of my husband and I in all the tour locations. I highly recommend the tour and Simonetta!

Well organized, we changed our pick-up location and they were accommodating. Good with communication. Very informative tours. We had assumed we would view the castle but we just parked outside the view with a little narrative.

Hello we are looking to do the tour sometime next week (Thursday I think) but we would need the collection from the station and transport option as we don’t have a car. How much would this cost please? Thank you!
Good morning,
At what time does this tour end exactly?
Also, we travel with our own car, is that also an option, or is there always the starting point from the station?
Cheers,
Yente

We would be passing through on July 19 from Lake Como to San Gimigiano. We are 4 adults.
2 Questions:
Can we start the tour at 10:30?
Is there a way to store our luggage somewhere so it is not in our car during the tour? We are aware of breakins and stealing luggage that is locked in cars.
Thanks for your help!

We are planning a visit on June 14th. Does the tour include balsamic vinegar production. I did not see it in the description but some of the reviewers talked about it.
Also, we need our own car, correct? We just follow the guide’s car? We are a group of 5 who will be traveling from Bologna.
