Fantastic experience with our guide Alice
Aug 2020 • Solo
We had an incredible day with our guide, Alice. She has studied Food & Wine and is incredible knowledgeable. But the real value came from her incredible capability to explain the science behind the cheese and ham making in a way that will get you even more excited about the product, rather than distracting you from the end product. Moreover, ask her anything. I wanted to know everything from the people behind the scenes, chemical processes and statistical figures on the market. She knew it all. It was fantastic and we thank you a lot!

Very surprising tour
Oct 2019 • Couples
We started with parmesan cheese. Interesting. But the best was to ho to Antica Corte Pallavicina. Beautiful relais and location. Incredible place where they keep the Culatello for most of the important restaurant of the world. We saw in the museum all the history of the Culatello. Very well described the areas . The historical issues and the meaning g troufh the history of the Pork. I have learnt so many things . Very impressive the history the will the dedication of Spagaroli's family through the centuries. The place is beloved and you can taste it in a figurative way. We ate at osteria del porco the best Tortelli alle herbert I have ever had and beautiful selection of ham culatello and their own made wine. Our tour guide was very nice and clever: Elena. Beautiful tour. Even if I live in the lake of Garda I am pretty sure that I will spend a week end at the the antics vieste pallavicina very soon. Thank guts for beautiful atmosphere food and tour .

Half Day Parma Tour
Aug 2019
The tour of these two food wonders of the world was excellent. We love to eat both of these delicacies so seeing how they are produced was amazing and gave us a whole new appreciation for them. Our tour guide, Michelle, was beyond excellent. So informative, she definitely knows her stuff. If you appreciate food, take the tour. If you eat because you have to, you may not have the same happy, joyful experience we had.

Fabulous guide and tour
Jul 2019
Primary reason for visiting Parma and surrounding area was to learn about how Parma ham and Parmigiana Reggiano is made. This tour did not disappoint. Thankfully the guide was Italian and she spoke excellent English, was super knowledgeable about the area. The Parma Ham factory run by a family of women, set in the hills above Parma was incredible and the Parmigiana factory impressive. I would highly recommend this tour. BTW our guide recommended a fabulous restaurant overlooking the Torrechiara Castle that was bliss Podere Montefior.e

Half Day Parma Food Tour
Jun 2019 • Couples
Excellent way to spend the morning. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and her English was perfect. It was so interesting learning about how the Parmigiano cheese and Parma hams were made. Made us appreciate the price of the cheese and how to look for authentic cheese at home.

Half day trip to explore tradition and quality of Parma Parmigiano and ham
May 2019 • Couples
This was a family trip. We met with our guide Daniela at the easily accessible meeting point. We followed her to a Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory. She guided us thru each step of the process of cheese making, explained every detail and her knowledge was really expressive. We have opportunity to taste the cheese of different ages, feel the difference and quality of Parmigiano cheese.
After a drive to the nearest hills we visited Parma Ham facility. We walked the facility and learn about the process in which the hams are made. At the end we tasted their products.
This was a wonderful tour. We really enjoyed learning about the tradition and quality of Italian food. Daniela was a perfect guide.

Tour with my daughter
WOW!!! What a great half day tour. We meet our guide Monica and what a pleasure. She took time to describe in details all aspects of everything. Took time to make sure we didn’t have questions. My daughter gets distracted easily and she enjoyed the tour. The two small business we went to are very accommodating and polite and appreciative of your visit. I can’t wait to take my wife and I will for sure book the same tour if not a lot more and will request Monica if possible!

Food tour half day
We met with our guide Monica and followed her to a family owned Parmigiano Reggiano cheese factory. Her English was fantastic and her knowledge was impressively technical. She showed and explained the history and process of cheese making. We had a tremendous amount of access to the facility and each and every step of the process. At the end we tasted the three different age categories of cheese and purchased some in their small store. We then drove to family owned Parma Ham facility. Monica’s knowledge of the history and process was equally impressive. We walked the facility in a similar manner as the cheese factory. The process in which the hams are made is impressive. We met one of the owners and she was lovely. We had a tasting at the end and it was delicious. Monica was a perfect guide.

Foodies Gotta Food!
Jun 2018 • Friends
For an avowed foodie like me, touring factories that produce genuine Parmesan Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma, it's just the opposite of "you don't want to see how the sausage is made." Seeing first-hand how Parmesan is made from start to finish, as well watching the experts at a family-owned (and women-owned & operated) Prosciutto plant work their magic is fun and enlightening if one is enthralled by food. Top it off with a visit to a small, family-owned producer of genuine, aged Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale in Reggio Emilia, and that's a good day! Our guide, Monica, a former school teacher and long-time resident, was knowledgeable and informative, not to mention kind and passionate about what she does. Our side-trip to a local agritourismo for a sumptuous lunch was the perfect bow with which to tie up our Parma experience. If you have the good fortune to visit Parma, call the folks at Food Valley Gourmet Tours and ask for Monica to be your guide. You'll be glad you did!
