Overview
Explore the culinary and motor heritage of Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region on this full-day tour from Bologna. Traveling by minivan, visit producers of the area’s three best-known foodstuffs — Parmigiano-Reggiano (Parmesan cheese), balsamic vinegar and prosciutto ham— to learn how each is made and taste delicious samples. Then, visit the Ferrari Museo (Ferrari Museum) in Maranello to immerse yourself in all things Ferrari, and enjoy an optional test drive (own expense). A 6-course lunch, including wine, and the personalised atmosphere of a small-group tour make the experience extra enjoyable.
Highlights
  • See more of Emilia-Romagna on this packed daylong tour
  • Great value: visit a cheese producer, vinegar estate, and prosciutto factory
  • Priority admission to the Ferrari Museum
  • Enjoy three food and wine tastings and a multi-course lunch
  • Stress-free round-trip transportation from central Bologna locations
What to Expect
After pickup from select hotels and locations in central Bologna, an air-conditioned minibus takes you out of the city. Make your first stop at a Emilia-Romagna cheesemaker to hear how Parmigiano-Reggiano is made and sample some of the tangy cheese. Step back in the van and continue to Modena, the capital of balsamic vinegar. Learn about “black gold” vinegar and the local vinegar-making traditions. Then, head to a prosciutto factory to sample the cured ham to uncover the secrets of its curing process. The next stop is the Ferrari Museum (Museo Ferrari) for a guided tour, with priority admission. Opt to test drive a Ferrari at your own expense if you like. After a multi-course lunch at a family-run restaurant, your transportation drops you off at select Bologna locations.

An amazing day. Informative and fun. Extremely comfortable bus and first class lunch. All the stops were interesting and Fabio was a funny, engaging and tremendously knowledgeable tour guide who provided the commentary himself at two of the stops. The entire day went so fast....More

We loved the day, great guide and really interesting stops en route. Plenty to taste (and drink) along the way and the lunch at the end was delicious. Go hungry! This represents good value for money for the amount seen and enjoyed on the day.

I not sure if it might be a problem when visiting the food processing areas. Best check with the tour guide.
