While the tour guide Rocky was good and we had an enjoyable time with him, I was disappointed the timing in each section is not as advertised which is 50 minutes in each of the 3 parts. It was an 1.5 hours in the colosseum, 10 minutes outside of the colosseum about the old roads and the front of the forum, and then 15 minutes at palatine hill. We did not walk and tour the forum. Some bigger buildings of the forum were pointed out while on the top of palatine hill. But that was it. The forum is what I was most looking forward to. Since the tickets do end at palatine hill/the forum we went down on our own and tried to listen into other group tours. Next time we go to Italy, whenever that may be I think I'll book a private tour for the forum.

The tour was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Rome. Radu was largely responsible for this! He was extremely knowledgeable and presented facts and stories in a way that kept everyone engaged. Looking at other tour groups made me happy to have been with City Walkers and especially Radu. Would definitely recommend him to anyone who wants a tour with a guide who is passionate, funny, and loves what they do!

We were on the English speaking tour which was really fun and highly informative. You will not be bored.

Our tour guide Radu had so much energy and kept our attention the whole time. We really valued his expert ancient history knowledge, myth-busting and dramatic re-enactments. If you’re curious you can also ask Radu any question and he always answered with so much depth. I felt sorry for anyone not on our tour, as Radu had so much charisma that people walking by would often stop and latch on to the back of our tour to hear one of his amazing factual stories.

The tour is the perfect amount of time with a break in between so that you can fill up for water and use the bathroom. There’s also a small opportunity for your photo to be taken in a prime spot overlooking the Colosseum, which Radu will take for you with a variety of different angles for the perfect insta snapshot!

You also get given a headphone and a little device so that you can hear everything your tour guide is saying - there’s nothing worse than their voice being drowned out by background noise.

Overall this tour is excellent value for money and really great if you want to know the real history behind Rome.

Meh
The Guide we’ll call him “L” seemed very bored most of the time and from the beginning his voice was monotone and unenthusiastic. He didn’t seem to really wake up until about one hour into the tour. For a group size of 30 people, you would think the guide would be engaging and have some interesting stories but he talked a lot about building materials and just plain observations, even had periods where he didn’t seem to know what to talk about next. We spent hardly any time in the Roman Forum, most of that area on Palatine Hill with “free time”. I think the guide was knowledgeable but doesn’t know how to hold a crowd at all. Considering the price we paid and the size of our group, I was expecting so much more. My family (big group of adults) was completely underwhelmed by this tour and that’s sad because I know the Colosseum has a lot to offer. Also I would highly discourage going during summer, too hot and crowded. This was my second time visiting the Colosseum and fall is better.

We first toured the Colosseum and it was interesting, but our guide was a bit robotic (almost like he had memorized the script, but really didn’t care). In all fairness though, the setting is quite chaotic with thousands of people having to go through a metal detector to get in. The skip the line tickets are worth it, but you have no time to read any placards or visit the gift shop, as you are on a timed tour with Palatine Hill and the Forum afterwards. You change guides after the Colosseum. The tour of Palatine Hill and the ruins of the Roman Forum with David was much more relaxed and he was fantastic. His sense of humor was perfect in making history come alive for our group and he was very personable. Afterwards, you are free to walk around at your leisure and he tells you what is good to see and if you want recommendations for lunch (which we did) he was so helpful and our meal was delicious. David was awesome and we would highly recommend this tour.

We booked the tour though GetYourGuide, guided visit of the Colosseum, Palatino and Roman Forum and definitively it was money well spent. The place and the monuments are simply amazing and breathtaking, but on top of that we had the luck of having Radu as our guide. Radu is very prepared and passionate, really knowledgeble about the history and all of details regarding the monuments that we visited and Rome in general. But he is also a very funny guy and made the visit extremely funny and entertaining.
I definitively recommend this activity and if you are lucky maybe you can have Radu too.

So we were supposed to see the Colosseum first, but had to go to Palatine Hill and the Forum first since our guide hadn't received the tickets for the Colosseum yet. But, Lorenzo was extremely transparent with us and pivoted so smoothly to the next sites. He was full of so many great stories and facts, brought such a fun an engaging attitude and hilariously dry humor which made the tour even more fun. He allotted plenty of time for us to stop for pictures as well. Highly recommend!

Went on this tour with Lorenzo. He was really good and gave a lot of backstory on the Colluseum, Roman forum and other buildings and places. I would recommend him a lot if you want a slower, more casual tour than a more fast-paced, more chaotic tour.

Lorenzo was incredibly knowledgable and managed to make the experience fun and engaging.

Lorenzo’a English is fantastic. He was making jokes as we walked around and was able to pull out some random fun facts.

I can’t recommend this guided walk enough!! Without Lorenzo, we would have just walked around the colosseum without any understanding of what we were looking at.

Thank you Lorenzo for making our experience so interesting and entertaining!

We joined the 9:45am tour, the meeting instructions were clear and it was easy to find our group. There was approx 25 people which was a great number. Getting through the lines and security was straightforward and quick.

We were told on arrival that our guide was ‘unconventional’…meaning a fun one! Our guide was called Radu and he was full of energy and passion for Rome and it’s history, his story telling was animated and honest including the nitty gritty side of things, he really brought the history to life for us!
