About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jane P0 contributionsWonderful tour!Shak was very knowledgeable and informative. Not rushed, very beautiful and so much to see/take in! Would highly recommend Sake and this tour operator. Everything was as they said. Knew what to expect, and they exceeded our expectations!!Written 18 January 2025
- reginasZ3970SK0 contributionsPrivate tourSpecial shoutout to Santi! We would have been so lost without him. We went in December so it wasn’t as crowded compared to high peak season crowds in spring or summer but in my opinion I still felt it was a bit crowded. This is where Santi stepped in by helping us maneuver through the crowds to see the key pieces that were timeless. He also introduced some many history behind each sculpture and painting we saw. Truly an unforgettable experience thanks to Santi.Written 13 December 2024
- P1042MEkendras0 contributionsJust okayIt was okay, felt rushed. It was nice to have someone point out things but definitely won’t be doing a private tour again, rather do audio by myselfWritten 12 December 2024
- kennethmK1455YP0 contributionsPerfect private tour for coupleMy wife and I booked this private tour and I highly recommend this tour if you (a) are a couple particularly that loves art, (b) want to skip all the lines and headaches of knowing where to go and how to do it, and (c) want to experience the Vatican from a unique perspective. Our guide, Jada, was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable (art history education / artist) on the art and the overall workings of the Vatican and history.Written 28 November 2024

He knows his way around, and is super friendly and knowledgeable. He listened to what we wanted to see and led us accordingly. We skipped almost all the lines, so spent little to no time waiting. These advance purchase tickets are DEFINITELY worth the purchase! You will save yourself at least 30 minutes to an hour of waiting in line to either buy the tickets or for security. With this tour you get to bypass all of those lines and people waiting, which is awesome. Our tour guide, Marco was funny, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable about the Vatican and all of the artifacts inside. I have actually been to the Vatican once before and he shared many new and interesting facts that I did not know before! Overall, it was a great value and I would highly recommend these tickets if you plan to see the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, or St Peter's Basilica.

I felt like a first Rome trip had to include a visit to the Vatican so booked this tour as I had 2 young children aged 10 and 9 and knowing very little about religion or art thought it the best way to ensure we all learned something and got the most out of the visit. Our meeting point was easy enough to find, Rome’s metro lines A and B easy to navigate to just about all the major sites. Our guide was Marco who spoke excellent English and kept the party of around 30 well engaged and kept the children’s attention well. Our entrance into Vatican City was easy with our skip the line access and despite it being fairly busy Marco did an excellent job of explaining the various pieces of art and buildings. He has already told us about the Sistine Chapel at our meeting point as you are not allowed to speak within and I was blown away by the spectacle, I am glad I paid to see it for me and my family. We then went to St Peters Basilica where Marco gave us more information, his pride and passion for Rome and art was evident and he remained behind to answer questions. All in an excellent tour with an excellent guide and worth the money.

Really brilliant tour. Definitely best to book because the queues outside were really long. Our tour guide, Amil, was brilliant. She was incredibly knowledgeable and took all kinds of questions. She covered academics, history, details of much of the artwork but it was all done in a fascinating way full of humour. The tour goes through rooms in the Vatican leading to the Sistine chapel (you aren’t allowed to talk inside so the guide explains everything in advance which great). The tour then moved via a special route for guided groups to St Peter’s Basilica where it concludes. If you do the English tour in the morning don’t book another tour afterwards because once the tour ends you can spend more time wandering around the Basilica. Amil explained that we could go down in the crypt (free) or climb into the dome (10 euros to take lift before climbing the rest on foot). Definitely do this- there’s a cafe up on the roof with great views.

Found this guided Vatican tour on TA in January before heading to Rome in early February. I normally hate the idea of being part of a ‘paddle board’ led tourist group but given the scale and breadth of what you can see, for an amateur like me on a first visit to Rome and it’s sights, a guided tour seemed like an essential piece.
No problem finding the starting location. In a group of about 20 people from all nationalities but our guide Guillian made all welcome.
Pre corovirus the skipping the lines aspect appealed and it really worked and saved a huge amount of unproductive queue time.
I’m not going to spend time on the attractions themselves since there is so much there that a few hours and fleeting looks can’t possibly do justice to.
The tour provided ‘Vatican’ headsets (pleased to see the Catholic Church continues to master its centuries old experience of money making ) and these enabled Guillian to communicate with us well. All worked and he was excellent - clearly knew the subjects and points of interest well. All the tours have to work and follow a pretty prescribed time and route and you need to be aware of this. The tour gives you a taster and if a particular part/piece attracts your interest you can return to spend more specific time at your choosing on a later date.
We had 20mins in the Sistine Chapel which is breathtaking and then the tour cheers concluded outside St Marks. We carried on independently to view the Bascillica which is stunning. I’d recommend going down to the crypt where you can see the remarkable tombs of the previous popes.
Both my partner and I would really recommend this experience and hope that the team will stay together and be able to carry on post Corona...

We did a tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basilica lead by Guiliano who was an excellent guide and provided an interesting and insightful commentary. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who would like to see the highlights of these places within a few hours. The tour kept my 11 year old son entertained and engaged which was quite an achievement!

Glad we decided to skip the line as we went on New Year’s Eve and the line into the Vatican was five to six hours long. There was about a 20 minute walk to the Vatican and then about a 20 minute security line wait.
Since there is no talking within the Sistine Chapel Giuliano gave the run down of the paintings outside the tour office. This ended up saving us time since we didn’t have to wait in line within the Vatican to hear the description.
We got our headsets once in the Vatican Museum. Giuliano did a great job explaining the history and meaning of all the art we walked past and he was easy to understand through the headset. He also did a great job of wrangling us and keeping us together among a huge mass of other visitors.
Very grateful to Giuliano and this tour for helping us to see the sights while on a short time budget.

Giulliano was our tour guide for the day and he was super informative, friendly and really considerate to everyone in the group as the age range and ability was very varied. At the starting point he went through the whole Sistine chapel so we knew what we were looking at once we got there, which as I’ve visited the Vatican before gave me a whole different outlook looking at it. He knew everything when questioned and just gave little insights that I feel most guides would not have known. Giulliano clearly loves the Vatican and his job and this comes across in all he says. The skipping the line was well worth it as the queue for St. Peter’s basilica was extremely long all day the tour jumped all of this. Would definitely recommend this tour and especially giulliano and the Vatican and all it holds is breathtaking!!!

Fantastic tour, booked this through trip advisor prior to visiting Rome and so glad we did. Stumbled across the Vatican City the day before when wandering around and the queues were huge. This got us straight in 'through the backdoor' and lots of quick access routes through the tour particularly to get you quick access to the sistine chapel. A short delay to get the headsets sorted but it was a welcome 5 minute toilet break. Our tour guide Guiliano was very knowledgeable with very good English and made the tour humorous and entertaining, this has to be the best money we spent in Rome. Book it you'll love it !!!

A brilliant tour seeing one of the holiest places on earth! Giuliano was our excellent English speaking tour guide who was clear and easy to understand. He guided us through all the security checks into the Vatican with ease. The audio guides were very helpful even if some needed replacing but that is due to the Vatican not updating the guides since 2005 to a more modern digital version but we all managed. The sights we saw are truly amazing and it’s quite a privilege to actually stand where so many popes and dignitaries have stood before in such beautiful surroundings steeped in history. There was so much to see and learn about that you end up with brain overload. The Sistine chapel was awesome. It doesn’t disappoint. How Michelangelo managed to paint all that in 9 years in total during his lifetime is inspiring. We were also lucky enough to see St Peter’s Basilica which re-opened after Covid closures. So many photo opportunities. Truly magnificent. The Vatican museum is very big and we weren’t able to stop and look at everything as there wasn’t enough time on the actual tour, however, once the tour is over, you are free to go and look at it again in more detail but to be honest, after nearly four hours of walking about in 35c heat, all you really want to do is sit down and eat and drink something which you can do inside the museum or sit outside in its gardens. I’d recommend revisiting in a cooler month and buying an solo entry ticket to the museum just to be able to take your time at your own pace to really be able to study everything and see all the artefacts. In the meantime this tour was well worth it and I’d highly recommend it. Enjoy! 😊

Took this tour 4th January 2020 when it was still really busy after the New Year. The queue for the Vatican was very very long so Skip the Line was a great way to save time.
Our guide Guiliano was friendly and very enthusiastic and full of very interesting facts about the things we were seeing.
I Would recommend this tour.
Be aware you have to be patient as entry to the Vatican involves security checks and some unavoidable delays but Skip the line meant Guiliano got us inside as quickly as he could and ensured that time spent passing through these check was kept to a minimum

Hi there. We are wishing to book a Skip the Line Group Tour of the Vatican/Sistine/St Peters tour. We see that the prices differ on varying days. Is this because there is more to offer on the more expensive days (ie: perhaps the Pope is there! :)). Could you please explain, so that we can book with confidence. Many thanks! :)
Written 25 February 2023
I saw that too. I think price has to do with demand. Weekends and holidays are usually more.
