We attended this tour yesterday with Tourkis and we were guided by Serena around the Roman Forum, Palestine Hill and the Colosseum including the underground areas. We are so glad we went on this tour as we were part of a small group of 8 guests, so we all received a lot of attention from our guide who gave us lots of information and made the tour funny, enjoyable and relaxing - the time really flew by. When it comes to the Colosseum, the queues are very long indeed and when it says skip the line, you really do jump ahead of these long waiting times. Serena managed to get us to be the first group underground at the Colosseum and this part of the experience was what we had waited all week for - to see how the venue was operated, where the animals lived and how the gladiators entered the arena. Serena was also able to show us pictures of how the gladiators looked, what weapons they used in combat, how the fights were organised and also the other gruesome events that took place. She also revealed a fascinating thing that we didn’t know about the Colosseum which added a new dimension to how this venue was used, but we won’t spoil that surprise here. It was an amazing afternoon of discovery in warm sun with a great guide. Five stars.

We signed up for ‘Guided Tour of Colosseum Underground, Arena and Forum’, so that we could access the underground of the Colosseum. It did not disappoint! You may only access this area with a tour guide and honestly.. you wouldn't want to wander without one! There is so much to learn and Pelin (our tour guide) was incredible!! We spent about 3 hours with her and she shared so much history not only about the Colosseum itself, but also about what life was like in Rome at the time. We also had access to the Forum and arena floor in the Colosseum. Again, you would not want to wander the Forum without a guide - you wouldn’t know what any of the ruins are. She also allowed us to stop to take photos as well - we didn’t feel rushed. Booking a tour of the Colosseum and Forum is the way to go and I highly, highly recommend Pelin!

Inge led our family of 5, including three teenagers, on a detailed tour of the colosseum underground, the arena, and the forum. She had a ton of knowledge on all fronts, and did a great job of keeping the kids engaged with colorful anecdotes, getting some good family pictures, and adjusting to the rain / weather conditions. We had some stragglers try to “join” our private tour and she politely sent them along. The microphone / earpiece was helpful so that we could catch everything without always hovering. All in all, very good experience.

I have visited the Colloseum and the Forum before without a tour guide and felt a little bit underwhelmed, so for this return trip I decided to get a private tour. It was well worth the money. My guide Serena really brought Ancient Rome to life. A qualified art historian she had a real passion for the place and could answer every question I had. Standing in the Forum 25 years ago it had seemed like and interesting, but confusing collection of relics, but with Serena’s descriptions and her pictures of reconstructions I was awestruck by the scale and grandeur of the ancient Roman capital. If you are interested in Ancient Rome and really want to get a sense of what it was really like, I highly recommend getting a private tour with a skilled guide like Serena.

What a wonderful way to explore the Colosseo, Roman Forum, and the underground area!! Our tour guide Fernando was very knowledgeable, friendly, and had great energy even in the summer heat. It was great being able to stroll around so many areas and learn about the history from a guide that made the time pass at a perfect pace. I would recommend this tour to all of my friends given the depth of areas covered and the quality of Fernando professionalism in getting us to where we needed to go in a timely manner. Overall, fantastic way to tour the Colosseo for anyone!

The underground Colosseum tour was absolutely fascinating! Isida has a complete understanding of the building and everything that went on inside of it back to when it was built. She may have dispelled some Gladiator fantasies that Hollywood would like us to believe, but I appreciated the honest truth about what the games and life at that time were actually like. I would absolutely recommend anyone to go with Isida and the Touriks group, they definitely know what they're doing. Thank you, Touriks!

Excellent tour. DanielV our guide had extensive knowledge and a good sense of humour. He held the attention of the group throughout and was audible at all times. He made frequent stops to ensure the group were together before delivering new information, which he did in a contextual and interesting way.
Needless to say, the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Forum are of great interest per se, but the guide made it an excellent experience.

We had our hotel find and book a tour for us so we didn’t know what to expect. We were told to meet in front of the metro half an hour before, and the girl with the sign was easy to find. One woman checked for everyone’s reservations and showed them to their guides. They couldn’t find ours and instead of brushing us off, she quickly resolved it by contacting their office person or whatever and everything was fine. Laura was our tour guide and she was great. It was a hot day (100 degrees) so she made sure everyone had or bought water before we started. She also showed everyone fountains during the tour to refill. The tour was everything we wanted. Started with palatine hill, to the forum, then to the colosseum and the underground (what we were most looking forward to!). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, pleasant, made sure to stop in the shade when possible, and had answers to everyone’s questions. We had those little speaker/ear bud things to make sure we could always hear her. She also made sure everyone got the pictures they wanted and offered to take them. The entire tour lasted about 2.5 hours. Would def reccomend

Giovanni from Touriks guided us excellently through the Colusseum including it's underground area and on Palatine Hill and through the forum in about 3 hours. He was great at structuring his story, spoken in fluent English and with a good sence of humor. He cathered to the requests from the group, adjusting his walk and storyline in such a way that we saw more than expected. We had enough time to make photos everywhere and even go to the bathroom at Palatine Hill. The audio system allows you to look around a bit more without missing parts of his story. The company organized this tour well, the security and Covid checkpoints didn't delay us much and the hostess at the Colluseum allowed our group to move around with Giovanni without many restrictions. I would highly recommend Touriks and this guide. Only point of improvement would be at GetYourGuide, their description of where to meet the guide is accurate but the area seems a bit disorganized due to other tourguides trying to get clients in the same area. They tell you to look for "the local partner" but they don't mention the name of that partner on their voucher. I eventually found a Touriks employee (recognized by their logo on a yellow sticker of their clipboard) after 15 minutes. He was not visible when we arrived, he was understandably hiding in the shadow of the green kiosk.

We had an absolutely amazing time touring and learning all about the Colosseum. Helena (Elena) did an absolutely outstanding job walking us through, explaining the history, answering any and all questions we had throughout the tour. We were thoroughly entertained! We will recommend this tour to all family and friends coming to Rome on vacation to have as fantastic of an experience as we did today!

What is the current policy and link to check changes in policy for COVID? I am not vaccinated and do not plan on it as I have had COVID, So I already have natural antibodies and am told that is better than the vaccine. I know I can enter the country with a negative PCR test as of this writing. Is vaccination required to do the tour or do I just have to make sure I have a negative PCR test within 72 hours? Can you really not enter a restaurant without vaccine paperwork?

Yes, you can wander around the Colosseum but you can’t go back down into the underground areas. I think that the length of the underground tour is just perfect though, so staying in the upper areas is fine.

Hello, I was wondering what you had to do with COVID precautions? Im hearing you need your vaccine card and also a negative test. Do they offer the testing around the area? We weren't plan to visit here until the weekend and will be arriving on a Wednesday. Also what time of day did you go?

Hi we visited between Feb 15 - Feb 19 last week. You only need a COVID test to enter Italy and you need to be fully vaccinated with your last vaccine - 2nd dose being within the last 6 months. If your last vaccine is the second dose ie you have not had the booster then it has to have been given within the last 6 months to be valid. There is no validity limitation to your vaccination if you’ve had the 3rd booster vaccine. A Neg Flow test (within 24 hours before arrival ) or ( Neg PCR within 48 hrs of arrival if travelling from the UK) check that you do the test to comply to your arrival time to Italy not to the time you fly out of UK, and you need the EU locator form and vaccination certificate showing the QR code. Print out the vaccination certificate showing the QR code as this is what they scan when you visit places. ( you can also display the QR code on your phone). Once in Italy you only need your vaccination certificate to show when ever you go to places / indoors / restaurants / hotels etc. You do not need to undertake any further covid tests if you are fully vaccinated. You must use FFP2 masks on the plane and anywhere inside premises or when visiting tourist sites in Italy or on public transport. Cloth masks or the blue surgical masks are not acceptable. We took the tour at 10:30 in the morning and did the Forum first before being taken to the Colosseum, although this may be changed around. At that time of morning Forum not crowded and because of the season in general not very crowded. If visiting Vatican City I suggest you go before 8:30 to see St Peters Basilica first ( no queues ) before visiting the Vatican museums. Although our tour of the Vatican museums / Sistine chapel included St Peters Basilica in reality there was no tour of St Peters basilica as the short cut between the Sistine chapel and St Peters has been closed off. Once we finished with our tour of the Vatican museums and the chapel we made our own way to St Peters basilica ( no entry tickets required) but our tour ticket did not give us any priority and the line to get in was huge at around 2pm. So we left and come back another morning to see St Peters when the queue was shorter.
Is this an entirely walking tour or is there transportation between locations? Some of our group has some walking difficulty for long distances.

Hi, Karl! It’s all walking.you can’t drive in the areas visited. It’s a good amount of walking but it’s shock full of narrated information as you go.
Hi, does this ticket grant us access to the house of Livia and house of Augustus ?

You walk to those on your own in the Roman Forum (essentially the original street with ruins and historical building all around). The tour ends while your INSIDE of the Roman forum so just cruise around on your own there. Also, keep your sticker on or keep your your tickets after the tour ends. There are a couple places in the Roman forum that require these to go inside. Enjoy! Truly incredible place.
