- anneaK8077BA0 contributionsAn excellent GuideWe made our way to the Piazza Barberini for our walking tour. We met up with our tour guide Joe, who was so knowledgeable and passionate in his subject. He was a 7th year student in historical architecture, so knew his stuff. He told us this history of the Fontana de Trione in the centre of the piazza then we moved on to the palazzo Barberini, what gad been the summer palace of to Popes in times gone by, from there we headed to the Trevi fountain where Joe helped us get a good spot for photos. Being a small group was most advantageous. He gave us an insight into Hadrian's palace, of much interest to us coming from an area near Hadrian's wall in the uk. We gazed on the Pantheon, previously it had been free to enter unfortunately now there is a charge. We passed Joe's favourite coffee shop, and finished off at Piazza Navone, very impressive with its three fountains. All in all an excellent walk. These guides work hard and are only paid their tips please bear this in mind, especially if you like us enjoy all the information they provide. Bonuscwas thebsun was shiningWritten 14 March 2024

- Jenkinsclan0 contributionsDon’t Miss this TourJoe was our tour guide for the Rome city tour. As a guide with a degree in archeology, he is so knowledgeable. He gave us such a good understanding of the history of the city and the architecture, including stories about the artists. The tour was very comprehensive and covered highlights that we hadn’t already visited. There were multiple stops and I didn’t want the tour to end. I felt very educated and it was information I hadn’t already heard on other tours. Excited to go back and do more tours with him. These guide work on tips only so please plan to tip if you enjoy the tour. This was a big misunderstanding with some of the guests on the tour.Written 11 March 2024
- 551leighc0 contributionsA great way to get your bearings in Rome! This tour was a great way to start my trip to Rome! Camille was a fantastic guide - really friendly and full of facts about the area and recommendations of what to see. We were a small group so it was easy to walk about and get some great views of the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. For the small booking fee, it's well worth going on this tour.Written 6 March 2024

Marie shared so much history about the Trevi fountain, the Barberini home and family and of course the pantheon. We enjoyed spending time with her and wish her much success.Written 26 February 2024

- 27aymericl0 contributionsFriendly evening walk in Rome with VladaVlada was very friendly and helpful! We had an amazing tour with her, and learned a lot of the backstory of the places we visited, which really enhanced our experience in Rome. She has such a positive aura, which transformed our tour from a group of strangers following a guide to a group of friends discovering Rome together. I'd really recommend doing the tour with her :)Written 18 February 2024
- olgasN9701BJ0 contributionsEvening walking tour in Rome - do not recommendWlada was our guide, she was a quiet person which is ok unless you want to be a guide :) I didn’t learn anything about Rome really, she said only a few things even though the tour lasted almost 2 hours, most of the things she said were about the hot-thermal baths which used to be in Rom( feels like it was the main topic) - really boring . I participated in many freelance guided tours in different cities but have to say this one was THE WORST, if You want to fall asleep quickly I recommend going!Written 16 February 2024

Friendly and open to questions from start to finish , Michael shared historical-architectural information at every point of our walk through the city (pointing out details we would otherwise not have noticed), keeping the narration live and interesting at all times. He also recommended cool ‘’unicorn’’ places around Campo de Fiori and Trastevere, some of which I visited after the tour. It was great to have a guide who puts so much passion and enthusiasm in his work.

This was a great tour Michael was our guide he was very knowledgeable and made it interesting, he was friendly and engaging. Unfortunately, for Michael the tour group was small, consisting of two couples.
Michael answered all the questions posed from members of the group and gave fascinating details of the areas history and background information. Michael covered the history of the area from ancient times through to the modern day.
The cost of this tour is a minimal booking cost. However, at the end of the tour you give a
gratuity to show your appreciation to the guide. Please note the guide does not receive any of the booking fee, so if your guide is good be generous with your tip. Excellent tour experience !!!!
The tour was a good 2hours and Michael certainly earned the gratuities from our group.

Our guide was informative, engaging, and dedicated. She also took care to see that everyone could hear and that everyone was comfortable despite the brief rain shower we experienced. My husband and I learned much about the history of the Jewish population in the Roman ghetto of Trastevere, now a place filled with trendy shops and restaurants. I highly recommend this tour.

I have taken this tour before with a local female Italian woman, maybe five years ago. She was amazing! I brought my friend on this trip and wanted to take the tour again to share the experience with her.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the things he discussed on the tour. Several points of feedback…It was a walking tour but we stopped in front of the theater in a back alley area where there was dog poop and unsightly neighborhood for at least 20 minutes to hear about the theater and some history. The tour I did before stopped in a more scenic spot to view the theater. The next stop we made was behind a restaurant in the restaurant area. The restaurant was closed but the guide had us all pull up chairs that were stacked up and sit in a circle for at least 20 minutes to hear more history. It was a walking tour so to sit for that long was not appropriate. At times the guide seemed like he was the center of attention for the tour not the JG or Trastevere. We did not tip well because I was disappointed compared with the tour I had done years ago

This was an excellent, value for money tour. Our Guide Caroline was fantastically knowledgeable and looked after us in the extreme heatwave, making use of shade and water fountain stops on route all the way. The history gave a whole different perspective on the area and insight into the experience people who lived there have had. One which isn't really taught overseas. Highly recommend this as a great 1.5 - 2 hour walk to include in any plans to see Rome.

My husband and I have been to Rome a few times. We love Rome and are passionate about history. Joe was a wonderful guide. So interesting, knowledgeable and engaging. We learnt so much about Jewish history in Rome but also the history of Rome itself and gained a huge appreciation for the layout and design of Rome. We highly recommend Joe for professional and passionate interpretation of Rome and it’s people.

An intimate area with history, small restaurants appealing gift shops and yet a sense of the antiquity of these two distinct areas.....communities. Outside of the magnificence of Rome’s Vatican, Collosieum etc. these two areas deserve a full day on foot.

This walking tour with Joe as our guide was truly excellent. The tour itself is free but participants can give a donation to the guide as they see fit. It was fascinating to realise that the Jewish community is an integral part of Rome going right back to its origins. The guide gives an immense amount of historical detail which would be good to include in any visit to to the city.

Carolina our tour guide was very knowledgeable. It was very easy to understand her. She took us through the history of the Roman Jewish community and its Pagan and later Christian neighbours. from Ancient Rome until today stopping at all the important landmarks around the Jewish ghetto. She described the good the bad and the ugly in the complex relations between the Jews and their neighbours and how it is reflected in the architecture of the neighbourhood. She also included the general history of Rome and pointed to important landmarks of the city as we passed them.
In the two hours tour I learned more about Jewish life in Rome than I did in previous visits to Rome.
