Overview
Stay a step ahead of the crowds with this early access tour of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. With skip-the-line entry before the doors open to the public and access to reserved corridors, the tour has all you need to beat the Vatican crowds at two of its most sacred sites. There are even less people on the tour itself, with numbers capped at just 12 per group.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and group near the Ottaviano metro station in Rome, and head straight to the Sistine Chapel. Entering before the chapel officially opens its doors, you’ll see the sacred place as it was meant to be seen: in a state of tranquility, before the general public enter.

After admiring Michelangelo’s lauded frescoes that cover the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling and back wall, you’ll follow your guide along a reserved-access corridor that links the chapel to St. Peter’s Basilica.

Here, you’ll go straight to the basilica’s highlights, hearing the history behind Bernini’s bronze baldachin and Michelangelo’s La Pietà, which was carved from a single slab of Carrara marble. When you tour ends, you can stay inside St. Peter’s Basilica to explore more at your own pace.

Wonderful, informative tour

We absolutely loved our guide Sara for touring the Vatican in the AM with Walks of Italy. We had such a great time, learned so much and were really able to feel comfortable (even through all the crowds). I loved this tour! We had time...More

Incredible masterpieces with informative narration!

Francesca was extremely well informed. She negotiated the crowds with ease. She lingered and explained all of the most famous pieces/places. Excellent guide! the Walks of Italy support systems was equally excellent. Thank you for your prompt response to inquiries we made.

Sistine Chapel - Vatican Museum tour

On October 26, 2018 we took this tour. There were about 15 of us in the group, so it was a small size. We meet our tour guide at 7:15AM near the Vatican Museum, and were each given a head set. The problems started here,...More

The best and only way to see the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica

We went on the "Pristine Sistine" tour, which I booked well in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed this informative tour, which allowed us to enter the Museum well ahead of the regular opening hours. In addition, our guide Boo was excellent and explained all the highlights...More

Early entry Sistine Chapel/Vatican Museums/St. Peter's (small group)

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared commentary that made it very real. For example, her comments about the personalities of artists and popes provided real insight and were more than what is usually presented. The Vatican is very crowded and Paola was very...More

4 hours and it flew by. Wear really comfortable shoes and bring two water bottles. Lots of very clean bathrooms, but you will need water with all the walking and stairs.

These are skip the line. There are other tours waiting also. You are with the guide when you enter the museum.

Yes. We saw the Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basillica with the tour. We could have gone back to any of the places when the tour was done, but we didn’t feel the need because the tour was so thorough.
