What to Expect
Your day begins with pickup from your Rome hotel or a central meeting point. Travel in a coach north along the River Tiber for 1.5 hours to reach the Umbria region. The tour stops first in Orvieto, a quaint hilltop village famous for its 13th-century Gothic cathedral. Here you’ll explore town on foot taking time to explore the mosaics, sculptures, and stained glass of the Orvieto Cathedral. After lunch on the shores of Lake Trasimeno, you’ll head to the UNESCO-listed town of Assisi, the birthplace and home of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of Italy. Walking tours visit important locations in St. Francis’ life, including the stall where he was reportedly born. Trip was fine. I’ve read many negative comments about the food. But ours — although clearly not 5 star — was quite acceptable. Cristina was an excellent guide — knowledgeable and funny!

Tour was a great size. However, it was half in Spanish. It was supposed to be just English. This caused more time to be wasted and truth be told I had to tune out a lot. So much chatter int he ear. Assisi is beautiful and amazing.
