- X4795KTsimond0 contributionsGreat value, great experienceCannot recommend this tour enough. We had Alessandro as our guide and he was amazing. Funny, knowledgeable and a genuinely nice person. We didn’t know what to expect but the views and time afforded at each place was definitely worth it. The boat trip from Positano to Amalfi was a nice way to experience the views that helped us to appreciate the Amalfi coast from the sea.Written 11 October 2024

- NZFrequenttravellers0 contributionsDo it!!Awesome day. We were very lucky to get a last minute bus tour. All the boat tours were cancelled due to bad weather. We stumbled across the booking office for this company and although all the spots were booked they asked us to wait 3 minutes to see if everyone had turned up. Our lucky day as we secured our tickets. Great trip around Positano, Amalfi, snd Ravello. Could do a boat trip from Amalfi also. Plenty of time to wander around, enjoy a nice lunch or gelato. Merika and Antonio made the trip fun. Recommend this tour.Written 9 October 2024
- Navigate7344400 contributionsSee aboveWe had a wonderful guide. (Danielle?) and she was extremely knowledgeable and made Pompei come alive and the fact that we only saw a small part of this large UNESCO site. What it showed was the in 2000 years we have not altered one tiny bit and the ancient Romans had the same dreams as we do today!Written 8 October 2024

However we would have like to have just a little more time in the towns. At times seemed a little rushed. “Marilu” was a wonderful your guide, our driver “Geno” I believe, scuzzies if I have his name wrong, he was excellent! Highly recommend!Written 6 October 2024
- Jet468801973750 contributionsThank you Mary Lou and Andrea! Our guide Mary Lou was fantastic and she's a local to the area so she really knows her stuff and has a lot of good information to share. The sea conditions were too rough for a boat ride as originally planned so we had to take a bus through lots of traffic. However, Mary Lou's positive attitude made it better and she made up for the traffic by sharing many fun facts. Our driver Andrea was incredible at navigating the roads as well. Whatever you do, do not do this tour. Buy a tour for only pompeii from an archaeologist. Our tour guide knew little to nothing about the sites. We were rushed through pompeii in under 2 hours. Didn’t see any of the important houses or villas including the house of the faun, the villa of the mysteries or the house of the tragic poet. This is a straight up scam. The restaurant they take you to is mediocre at best and you don’t even get your own table, you have to sit with other people on the tour like some kind of school field trip. For $220 for two people this was a joke. Customer service is terrible as well. Tickets to pompeii are $20 and a 2 hour tour you can find for $25 as well from an actual historian. Overpriced garbage, will never be using trip advisor again. We went back the next day with no tour and saw more in an hour than we did with the “guide”.

Great day out to see Pompeii, we went when the temp was high so sun screen, water and a hat our a must. Easy pickup location with a/c bus to take us to Pompeii, along the way lots of information from our guide Danielle.
Once we got there you can be 50 cent to use the loos so bring change and once you re inside there is no access to toilets. The tour was great, the place is huge we only had time to cover some areas of the park but all amazing to see, the whole time with the guide in our earphones talking us through the details.
After the Pompeii tour we could have some lunch, we just had a cheap pizza at the restaurant they recommended but they charged us 20% service charge which was cheeky.
We were lucky enough to go out Mt Vesuvious on the clearest day, with amazing views across Napels and just a great time - beware though the walk is steep, it may only be 900m but it was pretty hard and slippery on the rocks and dust.
Reccomend getting a guide, would go again.

The day was well organised and the tour lead was great. I felt that we didn’t get long enough in Pompeii and definitely didn’t see half the things that I saw online. Our tour guide Max was informative and did a good job in the time given. The company will try to convince you to dine at a restaurant for a 3 course lunch during the hour break, however I recommend you don’t as shortly after, you are doing a hike up a volcano. We took a sandwich in our bag and bought a lovely orange slush from a nearby stall during the break, which was just enough and much cheaper. The experience at Mount Vesuvius was very impressive. It’s hard work walking up but the views are very impressive. Overall the tour was well organised and would recommend.

We booked this tour via the app "Get Yout Guide, which offers trips at discount prices. For £89 per person, me and my mum chose to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius in one day.
We met outside the Iamme Ia! tourist information office with a group. From there we walked to board the coach at the bus station in Sorrento. We drove to Pompeii, where we did "skip-the-line" entry into the ruins, which were spectacular by the way, and I have many great photos to prove it.
However, lunch was not included in the package. A three course meal at the Ristorante Zeus cost another €17 extra, which consisted of a type of pizza bread as a starter, gnocchi sorrentina as a main, and strawberry profiteroles as a dessert. It was delicious by all accounts and the restaurant was part of Pompeii railway station and had a nice, hearty atmosphere.
Fot the second part of our trip, the coach took us to the Mount Vesuvius National Park. My mum has a heart condition so couldn't really do the hike, but stayed at the coffee shop at the foot of the mountain. The hike up Vesuvius was difficult but spectacular. I spotted many species of butterflies and lizards up there. Special thanks to archaeologist Giusy and guide Teresa, who helped me to reunite with my mother after I failed to get back in time to board the coach. Wonderful trip and I would definitely do it again if and when I return to Italy.

We were so excited to go to Pompeii and had visited Herculaneum 2 days before and it was amazing. We booked both excursions through Jet 2 with our holiday.
Mauro our guide seemed lovely at first helpful and full of information. Before we actually got into the site he was asked to slow down as he had some older people in the group. He said he would but then didn't meaning he kept losing some of the group. 20 minutes in our earphone stopped working and we could hear a crackling woman's voice. He replied when it was flagged numerous time by different members of our group, that it was him we are hearing erm no!. We ended up removing the earphone and could not hear anything he was sharing.
He would start a dialogue and ask questions of the group if we answered him he was far for happy and threw a dirty look mumbling as he walked away. So we stopped answering him. It felt like being back in school and being scared to answer.
Everything was very very rushed it was apparent he had another group to do and did not want to be late.
Pompeii is a very busy place and due to spending lots of time queuing I feel we hardly saw anything other than a brothel.
Please book a small tour to go in and book a full day tour as this place is wonderful and so worth seeing but with someone who actually wants to share with and teach their group.
On a side note we actually lost 2 of our group and I hope they are ok. We went back to our bus with Lisa and she was in a panic trying to locate them. They probably gave up trying to listen to him and wandered off on their own.

Booked this tour while staying in Sorrento as a couple. Tour started in the main square of Sorrento departing to Pompeii on a coach. Arrived there, we met with another guide named Melania, who was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information. We really enjoyed our time in Pompeii. The tour guide gives you also the possibility to have lunch at one restaurant for about 17 euros per person.
On the second half part of the tour, we headed to Mount Vesuvius where we were left at the parking area and had to climb the volcano at our own pace as far as we were back to the bus by a certain time (around 80 mins, which is more than enough to go up and come back).
Overall the tour was average, nothing went wrong for us but the tour guide didn’t stand out particularly and she overpromised a stop to a local farm for a free sample of limoncello which was never delivered. A few people also had some issues with their tickets for the Vesuvius and were denied entrance, the tour guide offered them tickets refund.

Dear Fabio,
sometimes is not possible to stop for a limoncello tasting if the factory is closed or there is traffic along the way... and this should not affect with 2 stars a "Grat day in Pompeii and hike in M. Vesuvius"
We're still happy that your day was great !
Best regards,

If you’re in any doubt about booking, here is your sign to go ahead and do it! We had the best day.
Mena is amazing, we felt very lucky to visit Pompeii with someone as knowledgeable and passionate about the history of this spectacular place. She offered assistance with everything, and explained the days itinerary very well, and often to remind us. Her English was perfect.
The Pompeii tour is 2 hours, but we found that timing perfect. It was very hot and there is so much to see, but there are no signs or info so going with a guide saves you so much time wandering around and getting lost. We enjoyed the lunch break, in the restaurant for €16. We found it very tasty, and great value for the money.
Shout out to Giuseppe “Pepe” our driver, who made us feel very safe on the busy city roads and narrow winding roads up to “The Boss” Mount Vesuvius.
Great day, that we will always remember. Thank you, Mena!

This is a convenient way to visit both Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius from Sorrento. We started our journey from Sorrento and arrived to Pompeii. There we joined a guide who took us around the site in about 2 hours. The area is huge and there is a lot more to see than in just two hours. However, we saw a lot of interesting things and the explanations were very informative. What bothered me is that we exited the site and then we were told we had around an hour and 15 minutes for lunch. I hadn't booked the lunch option and just grabbed a sandwich from one of the few restaurants there, which took about 15 minutes. It would have been nicer to allow those who were interested to spend more time exploring Pompeii to remain inside, instead of wasting so much time waiting for the others to finish lunch. After that we headed to Mt Vesuvius and this is where I think the tour is convenient because driving up there by bus makes it easier. However, they just gave us about 45 minutes or so to hike up and down. This was just enough time and the views were very nice all along the way. All in all, the main advantage of this tour is the transportation. However, if you are interested in spending more time at Pompeii then I would recommend trying to organize something on your own.

The guide was wonderful, and the bus transport comfy. It was HOT for those couple hours touring Pompeii. Glad I bought an umbrella and fan before beginning. Bring water and apply sunscreen. I loved the Skip the Line as that made it quite easy. They also had a reserved area in the restaurant for a classic Italian price fixed lunch. Vesuvius was a steep rocky climb to the top. I wish I had worn sneakers. So glad I shared the experience with my kids.

The tour perfectly met our expectations. The guide Mena provided a lot of insight and direction in Pompeii. The driver Giuseppe was tremendous navigating the extremely challenging roads. Would skip the lunch they recommended at the cafeteria in Pompeii (for 16€ each) as it was disappointing and maybe walk down the street and get something elsewhere. The walk up Vesuvius was gorgeous and worth it, but would be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues.

Is there time allotted for you to have lunch at Pompeii before heading to Vesuvius ?

Yes plenty of time on the lunch break and several
Places to get food. Good point raised by another reviewer, make sure you have euro coins for the toilets.

Hi. Our group will be in Sorrento and will continue to Rome after the tour. This means we will have a piece of luggage each. Is there room for this on the tour bus? Can it stay on the bus for the day or will we need to leave it at luggage storage in Pompeii?
Written 3 April 2023
We were told the bus would be secure if we wanted to leave personal items. I suggest you connect directly with your guide about this. Maybe tip the driver a little heavy if you decide to leave them on board.

Hi, can you please confirm how long the walk is from where the bus stops and you walk the rest of the way to the crater? When reading the reviews I have seen anything from 275 meters to 900meters. So what is most accurate please and how long do they allow you to walk to the crater and back? Thanks

I believe pickup was about 0830-0900 at Palazzo Torquato Tasso. The hiking top to the summit was about a mile+ (2 miles+ round trip)...however the accent was quite steep. I believe our guide mentioned about 300 meters vertical over that distance. Unless you are an avid hiker you will find yourself stopping quite often to catch your breath.
One note of caution.... Especially on the way back. Do don't try to take advantage of the easy slope down. you are walking on loose rocks and we saw people's feet slip out from under them...some caught their fall, others didn't.
Although this hike is listed as easy... in my opinion it is a medium challenge if you are in reasonable shape, and moderately difficult if you are old and out of shape. As I mentioned, the more dangerous part is the possibility of taking a nasty fall.
Heading to Sicily in September and four more days on the back end of the trip in Sorrento before heading home... Will most likely not do the hike again but opt to go see grape harvesting east of Vesuvius.

Can we do this tour with a 1 year old baby in a carrier?
Written 4 January 2023
Technically, probably yeah. I am a relatively fit, able bodied, 28 year old and I still slipped on the climb down vesuvius. I probably wouldn't want to bring a baby with me on the hike portion itself.

Note on site says "From the 6th August to enter the ruins of Pompeii, as per law, it's required the Green Pass, so make sure to have all the documentation otherwise the access will be forbidden." BUT.... I read online recently that "Travel from anywhere to Italy is quarantine AND restriction free as of June 1st! The Italian government has confirmed that as of the start of June 2022, there are NO requirements to prove your Covid status for anyone."
So: is a Green Pass currently required for this tour or not? Please tell us current status on this because this is very important to know. Thank you
