Can it get even better? I guess not...
Goldentours Sorrento has so many top-notch reviews that may not even need another one. But I still want to offer my opinion. I emailed Goldentours asking if it is possible to arrange custom tour. Not the tour they listed on their webpage, but one from Sorento. Almost instant reply was “yes” of course. After couple of emails all was set to motion. My wife and I had a blast, touring Amalfi coast. Comfortable car, courteous driver (wish he spoke a just bit better English, though). Our tour started in Salerno going to Sorrento, and then on Amalfi coast back to Salerno. Our driver took us to vista points and other stops where no tour bus can go for sure. Luch is local, not touristy restaurant topped the trip, although it was in the middle of it. Special thanks to Annamaria and Giuseppe.

      full day excursion
The tour guide (driver) was not professional at all and was a poor representative for the company. He caused tension within the group when one of the ladies mentioned she had a reservation at a different restaurant. Instead of seeking our permission, he unilaterally reserved a table at a different restaurant for us, which left us feeling uncomfortable. His behavior included yelling and acting in an inappropriate manner. Based on this experience, I have no intention of booking with this company in the future.

Nice tour with lunch at a winery. Would recommend taking this guided tour vs seeing Pompeii on your own
Guide was excellent. We loved Pompeii and glad we had someone give us history. Had a nice lunch at winery as well. The wine was good & we bought some local honey.

      Amazing!
I got married in Castellammare and two days prior to the wedding we booked tours with Golden Tours. We loved both tours so much but the tour to Pompeii was amazing!! Gennaro was so funny and knowledgeable. He took many group photos for us and was the best guide. I will recommend everyone request him for their guide!

EXCELLENT TRIP, DIFFICULT TO HEAR DRIVER.
THE LADY DRIVER WAS LOVELY, KNOWLEGABLE AND PROFESSIONAL, BUT WE COULD'NT HEAR WHAT SHE WAS SAYING FROM THE BACK SEATS, MEANING SHE HAD TO REPEAT HERSELF A FEW TIMES. THE VIEWS WERE STUNNING AND WE HAD TIME TO LOOK ROUND AND APPRECIATE THE PLACES TO WENT TO, POSITANO AMALFI AND RAVELLO.

      Pompeii Highlights Tour
We were recommended to use this company for a trip to Pompeii by our hotel. The cost was €69 per person and for that you get collected from the hotel at about 0745 in an air conditioned bus, collect a few others and move on to Pompeii. Our tour guide was Tonya - she was very knowledgeable and knew what she was talking about. You get an audio device and ear piece so you can hear what she is saying. The tour itself is only about 2 hours, to be honest the site is massive and Tonya takes you to the highlights - it is just right. You can buy bottled water on the bus, there are also coffee spots and toilets at the excavation site. The bus drops you back your hotel by 1400 - perfect because its starting to get busy with the other tourists.. Recommended.

      Great tour and very informative
We were on the Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius with lunch included Tony was one of our guides who collected us from our hotel and took us to Pompeii where we met another guide called Luigi and the group was split into two and we had Luigi as a tour guide I was very impressed with his knowledge about Pompeii very funny at times as well. We then met back with the rest of the group at the end of the tour and there was a bit of a miss understanding between Tony and Luigi but it was funny poor Luigi got the blame 😂 Tony then took us for our lunch which was good food and then onto Mount Vesuvius me and my daughter climbed to the top great views and good times then Tony took us to a friends shop that sold local farm produce and limoncello all different flavours and we had a bit of a show from the owner very funny and friendly and again knowledgeable about his products he offered well worth the visit to this shop on the way back to Sorrento

      A very worthwhile experience
Picked up/dropped off from our hotel in an air conditioned coach. Bus journey very smooth and we were kept entertained by our guide Cynthia, who was both amusing and informative. At Pompei, there was a quick comfort break then split into 2 groups and quickly in to the site itself. We went with Luigi, who was also an excellent guide. You get a radio and ear piece so no matter how far you are from the guide you hear everything clearly. It was incredibly hot so I recommend lots of sunscreen, a hat and plenty of water. Also comfortable walking shoes. In half a day you can't see everything, but you get the highlights. We would make a return visit on a cooler day and stay longer. Overall a very interesting and enjoyable visit.

Day on the water Amalfi to Capri!
The boat was beautiful and the water was amazing. It was incredibly hot while we were there so a refreshing dip in the sea was perfect on the way to Capri and on the way back. It was great that they had a fresh water rinse off available so we didn't feel salty while walking around Capri. It was a beautiful day on the water! They had a sandwich for each person that was delicious and of course Prosecco for the boat! It was a small enough group as well so we did not feel crowded on the boat. Overall a very beautiful day on the water over to Capri and back. We had a couple of hours on Capri to explore which was nice too. It was just so hot the day we were there so probably would have been better on a day that wasn’t so hot to explore more of Capri.

      Terrible experience - stay away!!!!
Brutal experience and would recommend avoiding at all cost! My wife and I booked this tour on our honeymoon through Expedia and upon booking, the tour mentioned "Hotel pickup and Dropoff" included (See picture). The morning of our tour, we waited outside our hotel for 20 minutes before receiving a call asking where we were, surprised at this question, we informed them that we were under the impression we would be picked up as we had no form of communication indication otherwise. They told us we had to be at a location 30 minutes away in the next 10 minutes or they would leave without us. We could not re-book the tour because we were leaving the following day. When we asked for a refund, they mentioned it was "impossible" and would not do it. This was repeated to everything we said or asked for about 2-3 minutes. No communication was provided to us that we had to be at a different location morning of and were going off what was listed in the description of the tour. Overall terrible customer service and experience, I would be very hesitant to use this tour company and would not recommend it to anyone.

      Cosmopolitan Capri
We enjoyed our trip with Golden Tours from Marina Piccolo Sorrento. As promised, we were collected from our hotel and taken to the marina. The ports at Sorrento and Capri were incredibly busy. But our guide Giulia remained calm and professional throughout. Collecting and distributing our outbound tickets for the ferry and providing instructions in English and other languages. Repeating these if needed. On arrival at Capri, it was very chaotic. So very important that we followed Giulia (and her brolly). After meeting up at the end of the port. We were transported by minibus to Anacapri where we were given options to go to the top by cable car, (extra cost). Or relax for an hour. Giulia then met us and offered a walk to those not taking the cable car. Also the opportunity to visit the gardens of Axel Munth. (Extra 10€ each). We really enjoyed the cool and peaceful surroundings of the garden and beautiful views. After returning to the bus drop off point. We were transported back to the marina in Capri and given free time to explore. The central area of Capri was incredibly hot, busy, and, although the shops are a sight to behold, they are very expensive! Giulia was very helpful suggesting places to eat. As a result, we enjoyed a lovely pizza and drinks at a family run restaurant in an alleyway just outside the centre. (Circa €25). Followed by a short walk down the narrow streets to where we came across a beautiful view and some gardens. We returned to the marina and central area, which was incredibly hot and busy. To meet our party and were given the option of a boat tour of Capri (extra €20 per person) or to visit the blue grotto cave. We enjoyed the boat tour and being told about the beautiful island of Capri from the sea by Giullia. Boarding the return ferry was again chaotic. But as organised as it could be with so many people of different nationalities. We were very pleased with our guide Giullia and her colleague Hugo. Who worked well together to make the tour memorable and enjoyable. Thank you Tips for future travellers: 1) Listen carefully to instructions from your guide. 2) Be prepared for busy crowds and traffic. 3) Be prepared for extra costs for cable car, lunch, boat trips etc.

A Generic Response To Our Review Of Concern And Safety.
My husband and I booked a bus tour with golden tours in May 23rd for Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. We did write a review however nothing was stated in there comment back to us about how they dealt with Pasquale rudeness or the leaking of gas fumes into the back of the bus. As for there comment "we are sorry that the experience did not match your expectations". Is totally uncalled for. The price we paid had nothing to with tour expectations. It has got to do with respect and health safety. All one gets is a generic written response. Shameful on both accounts of concerns by golden tours.

My partner and I loved this trip. The coach journey was a little nerve-wracking at first as they were quite late (we realised everything in Sorrento runs late!) But once we where on, it was brilliant. Dropped off at Pompeii first where we had an excellent tour guide Luigi who knew everything. It was really hot, but he knew the best spots to stop and catch the breeze. Back at the coach we went to Mt Vesuvius which was insane. You don't have to climb to the top but we did. It is steep and slippy in places but the views are insane. Lots of stop points for a drink if you want. We had enough time to stomp up and back down to meet the coach.
Once back, we went to get some lunch (may have been before the mountain now I think about it). Lots of people on our trip had a pre booked meal. Now we didn't know that this was the only place to eat and neither did anyone else who hadn't pre booked. So we literally had no other option. It was nice food and drink for a fixed fee of €20 each (pizza, pasta or salad). Plus an ice cream in a tub. So either bring a packed lunch or eat at this one restaurant!
We got dropped back to near our pick up point, we actually asked to be dropped off somewhere closer to our hotel and the coach driver was fine with this.
It was a brilliant day. Not for young children unless they're up for a lot of walking in the heat and love the historical side.

Booked this trip online before we arrived in Sorrento and were told well in advance where we would be picked up and what time. The pick up location was a 2 min walk from our Hotel and the bus was on time.
Our guide Antonio was fantastic throughout the day.
We had the tour booked with lunch included and when we booked it expected a packed lunch or similar. Instead we had a great 3 course meal at a resteraunt half way up Versuvius.
A great day at both locations.

Everything was surprisingly great. Even after reading about Pompeii I was surprised by the quality of the structures and the apparent complexity of the society of the time.
Mt. Vesuvius was spectacular. The climb was steep but not hard. The view of the crater was wonderful.

Thank you Jessica for your knowledge of Pompeii and Tony for your driving skills. We throughly enjoyed this trip. Our time spent exploring Pompeii was just right for my 2 teenagers. Lunch was fantastic, the pizzas were huge! The afternoon climbing up to Mt Vesuvius' crater was amazing to appreciate the power of tbe volcano! Definitely recommend.

We were picked up from our hotel in Sorrento on time and set off for Pompeii in an air conditioned coach with plenty of leg room.
Our guide, Michael, gave us plenty of information about the towns and villages along the way as well as Pompeii. Getting in was a breeze as the money was collected on the bus and we were whisked in within 10 minutes. The site is fascinating but I would recommend a good guide as ours proved to be. There's a lot of walking, on uneven ground, but there are plenty of stops and the place is so interesting that you forget the aching feet until you're back on the bus. We had around two and a half hours inside, I personally would have liked longer but we did see and hear a lot.
We walked out of the site and saw a villa with amazing frescoes and then on to lunch at a near by restaurant. The food was extra (€14) but we knew that before setting off.
Unfortunately the Vesuvius part of the visit was cut short due to maintenance on the path up to the crater. We still went as far as the coach park and had the opportunity to take some photographs.
The journey back to Sorrento went without a hitch, the only downside was that we were dropped off at a different place to the pick up. We did feel rushed and we were a little lost as this was our first full day in the town.
Overall a great trip, value for money and a good guide.

Again, a truly fascinating experience. Vesuvius and its history was very interesting but beware the 900 meters climb to the top along the footpath, don't try this unless you are fit enough to do so, the air is thin and I couldn't finish the walk because of my Asthma (I did forget my inhalers though - silly me)

Pompeii was very interesting once you learn about the ash and pumice (about 30 feet thick at the time). Many of the original mosaics and wall plaster murals are to be seen as well as the construction and reasons for it - very interesting to know. Where the visitors centre now is was once under water and part of the dock area, the guide will explain better. A trip you have to try.

Booked this tour through Viator and immediately got off to a bad start. The tour details clearly stated and the Viator agent confirmed that there would be a hotel pick up. However, upon booking I received a confirmation email from Golden Tours that they would not pick us up and we would have to go to a meeting point that was 30 minutes away. Once on the bus, the tour guide, Roberta was knowledgeable and informative and kept a good pace to the tour. This is where the good ends and the only reason I didn’t give this tour a 1 star rating. Tickets to Pompei and Mt. Vesuvius and lunch were NOT included, this was clearly stated prior to the tour and fine. Tickets were sold on the bus for Pompei (15 eur) and Vesuvius(10 eur). I was traveling with my daughters who are 19 years old and I had read that tickets for students 18-24 with ID at both sites were half price. However, Roberta insisted that was not the case and charged us full price. Once we were done with Pompei, we were taken directly to some remote hotel for an “optional” lunch. This would have been ok if there were any other options. However, there were no other restaurants in the area and the only options offered were to either buy what was essentially cafeteria food for 14 eur per person or not eat anything at all. Back on the bus for 45 minute ride from Pompeii to Mt. Vesuvius, the air conditioning was either off or not working. Many passengers complained but Roberta claimed it was on and would just take a bit of time to turn on. 45 minutes later people were hyperventilating and sweating in the sweltering heat. The tour had cold bottled water on the bus which they sold !! I mean, how cheap can you get ? Selling water on a bus tour for profit? But the worst part of this is that this company discriminates ! ALL of the French passengers (~40% of the bus) were picked up and dropped off directly at their hotels. NONE of the English speaking passengers were. Instead, we were dropped off at a far away meeting point. When I asked why, I was rudely dismissed by Roberta and told, that’s just the way it is!

We wanted to do both sites on the same day. You can DIY it but the travel is difficult between the two sites. We didn't want to give up two separate days to do the sites. The bus was comfy and on time picked up in Sorrento at 8am. Were one of the first buses at Vesuvius and it was a clear sunny day. You have to walk to the top as the bus gets to within 900mtrs walk, this is not 900mtrs length of the walk but you have to ascend 900mtrs. Its an interesting sight and there are great views as you walk. Its smaller than I thought I must say. Pompeii is extremely well preserved and massive. We weer there two hours with our excellent guide and this is long enough to get a taste. Its pointless walking the whole site as it would be more of the same. Dropped back in Sorrento about 5.30pm then a cold beer! Very enjoyable day, highly recommended. Guide was great. The cost if for the bus and guide only, entrance fees to both site and lunch is extra, but we knew this so no surprise. Tour guide takes the money and organised the tickets, skip the line as well.
