Amazing historical site
Jan 2020
This was really a stunning scenery when we arrived there. Can't believe it is so big as a monastery which also a royal palace, school, library, cathedral, garden and art gallery. A "must see" place for every one who loves the history.

El Escorial Monastery
Sep 2019 • Solo
The visit to the Monastery and the Valley of the Fallen were as advertised. The guide was very personable. The language was overwhelming in Spanish. I would have rated this tour more highly if there were more balance to English. Except for logistic matters, English speakers were pretty much on their own.

AMAZING PLACES AND ERY GOOD GUIDE
Jul 2019 • Family
We spent several hours on this trip, but it felt too short. Both Escorial and Valley of the Fallen are truly breath-taking and beyond impressive!
We were also very fortunate to have ALBERTO as our guide.Extremely kind and attentive to each of us in the group, he also gave us many practical information to help us get around. More importantly, he provided us with numerous information enabling us to get a very good insight into the Spanish history, arts and politics.
His stories were not only informative, but also amusing and told in a lively manner. He has a good sense of humor and knew how to use it.
Alberto’s English was good, better than most other guides we had during our stay in Madrid.
I will gladly recommend this tour to my friends who decide to visit Madrid in the future.

Badly Organized Trip
Dec 2018 • Family
My family and I (3) took the tour to El Escorial + Valle de los Caídos on 28th December, 2018. The problems started in the morning when we arrived and found out that there were more people than a bus could take. 14 of us had to wait for another bus to come and as BusVision was not organized, we had no guide on our way to El Escorial. What is more, our bus was used like a taxi as we had to drop off a group of people at Las Rozas, again because transportation had not been organized for them either. Things got better once we arrived at El Escorial. We had a great visit with our guide Hernandez, who was wonderful and very efficient. We got to the lunch place at 14:45. The main guide, Alberto said we were to leave for the Valle de los Caídos at 15:30. Lunch was extremely tasteless, definitely not our money's worth. At 15:30 we were ready to board our buses and found out that there was only one bus available! The company ordered Alberto to take the first group to the Valle and send it back to get the rest of us. According to our flyers, the tour was supposed to be finished at 17:00 hrs and everyone had arranged their day accordingly. When the bus came back for us, it was past 16:30! In the meantime, some of us wanted to know what our rights were and the consumer office of Madrid said we had to get reclamation papers from the guide. However neither Alberto nor the driver were carrying such papers. So the police had to be called. They were very efficient (thank you Police Department of El Escorial) and fast. They took note of our complaints. We got to the Valle past 17:00 hrs. The visit there was OK and finally we got two buses to take us back to Madrid two hours later than the time specified on the brochure! It would have been really cool of the company to offer to pay us back at least part of the money we paid for the inconvenience they caused us and because they did not really do their job properly so we are making an official complaint. We will not use BusVision again.

low rating is more for the company than guide. the guide (Alberto was excellent) the tour was quite good to both locations and quite informative. english was at a bit of disadvantage and the numbers were 85% spanish/15% english, as someone who understands both languages i don't believe the explanations were equal.

now to the company. we took a tour to Toledo with the same company and they picked us up 45 minutes late. Then we sat on side of highway for 15 minutes waiting for a guide.

For the Escorial tour, all was going very well, then on the return instead of stopping at the 4 drop offs they only stopped at the first and said too much traffic for others. that left us with a 40 minute walk of which 32 minutes was in a huge downpour.
Very disappointing. Very unfair. No interest in helping us out, like doing stop 1 and 4, which would at least get us to the other side of the city.

Good but a little bit quick
The trip was good with a lot of explanations and an amazing and very helpful guide, the only tip is that the trip should be 1 hour longer in order for us to have more time to expend on free time, my greets to Alberto Figueroa

There has to be a better way ....
May 2018 • Couples
There has to be a better way to see El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen.

We purchased Madrid Busvision's El Escorial and Valley: Fast Track Entry and Guided Visit package through Get Your Guide, and while we got to see the Monastery and the Basilica the overall experience was very frustrating and disappointing.

Things did not get off to a good start as the meeting point was not easily identifiable. Our booking confirmation said to be at the Madrid Plaza de España, Tourist Bus Stop, in front of nº 7 at 10:50h. However, it did not tell us that nº 7 referred to the number on the red brick building across the street from where many tour buses were parked, and which was not visible because of the buses. When the guide eventually showed up at 10:55 she did not have a sign or bag or any indication she was in fact the guide, other than an umbrella (which when she opened it later in the day revealed the name of the originating tour company).

Tour information was also misleading. When we booked the tour, it was advertised as being in both English and Spanish, however the English components were considerably more concise than their Spanish counterparts and in some cases no English explanations were provided. When they were, they were generally difficult to understand because the guide’s English grammar and pronunciation left a lot to be desired, and when questions were asked in Spanish (which most of them were as the majority of guests spoke Spanish) she did not repeat them or provide an English answer, even though we asked her to. As well, when we booked the tour there was no indication that the bus would detour to a shopping mall to accommodate guests who had booked that tour. This added at least an hour to the round-trip ride, which ended up being almost an hour and a half longer than advertised (making us grateful we had opted not to book another tour we were considering for that evening, as we would have missed it due to the delay).

During the tour, conflicting information was provided. For example, as we arrived at the first stop the guide told us that the first item on the agenda was a bathroom break and that we were not to use the one at the bus station or we would be left behind. It was in fact almost an hour later that she provided us with an opportunity to use the washroom. She told us to meet at the end of the hallway, but when my husband attempted to go down the hallway, security guards stopped him. As a non-Spanish speaker, all he was able to ascertain was that their concern was related to his backpack (which had already been through the security scanner). When he tried to explain that he was with a tour group that was to meet at the end of the hallway they shoved him against the wall and used physical force to prevent him from moving. Some of us went in search of the guide for assistance, but weren’t able to locate her. Eventually she returned and after she spoke a few words in Spanish and shrugged her shoulders they let him proceed. She did not speak directly to him or even try to explain anything to us. Thankfully a bilingual member of the tour group was able to tell us that they wanted him to put his backpack in a locker once he got to the end of the hall: this could all have been avoided had the tour guide told us about the lockers in advance. When we dispersed for lunch, the guide provided us with the meeting time in Spanish and we thought we were to meet at 3:10; however when my husband asked her directly she said “one hour”, which would have made it 3:20; fortunately we were skeptical and made it to the meeting point at 3:10 so we did not hold up the group (even though we did not get to finish our lunch as the time allotted was too short). Prior to boarding the bus for the hour-plus return trip to Madrid (via the shopping mall) several of us wanted to us the washroom but were told to do so only “if it’s an emergency” and when we did she sent one of the group to the washroom to tell us to rush.

We have been on tours in many countries all over the world; unfortunately the lack of organization and engagement on this one ranked it # 2 in terms of most disappointing.

Horrible horrible experience
Everything that could go wrong, went wrong today. Firstly, even though we were punctual, we boarded the tour bus at Plaza de Espana and to our horror, there was not enough seats for my family of 4. The guide did not do a headcount and the bus has started to move off even when my family and I clearly had no seats and had to stand. After alerting the guide that there were not enough seats, she spent 10minutes calling someone, and did not give us an answer. We were eventually told to get off the bus, walk by foot more than 1 km back to our starting point to look for her manager and that we would be refunded of our full amount there. It was very disappointing and embarrassing, as if we were cheats trying to get a free ride.

When we finally reached, there was no one waiting for us at the Plaza, and we were stranded for 30 minutes looking for the manager. There was totally no attempt by the company to even contact us. We tried to call the office hotline several times but was unable to get through. I was appalled by the lack of customer service we had faced to that point. Frustrated, we then took a cab to the Madrid BusVision counter near Sol, and was also told that they could not help us and we had to settle it ourselves by emailing their help centre.

I would have been contented with just getting a full refund from the management, but as I sent my email to request for a refund, it took ages to get a single reply from them. And even till now, more than 12 hours after we were told to get off the bus, there is still no word from them that i would get a refund for the tour.

There was no attempt in service recovery and we had to reach out to the customer service centre ourselves. Our booking was done online and confirmed since 20 March. It was a very disappointing as it was not a last minute booking.

I am utterly disappointed at the horrible customer service that me and my family had to go through. With this form of customer service, I would feel blessed to even be able to receive a full refund. But until then, this company can be sure that it will not hear a word of recommendation from me to my friends, family and colleagues travelling to Spain.

Badly organised despite valiant efforts by guide.
Oct 2017 • Couples
The bus due to collect us at Puerta del Sol at 11.20 arrived at 11.55, then spent over half an hour battling through traffic to get us to Plaza de España where we were transferred to another bus. We could have walked quicker. Why not start the tour from there and avoid the traffic?
However our real problem came when we arrived late at El Escorial. Apparently no tickets had been arranged so the whole group of us were stuck for an hour while our guide sorted something out. At last we were able to make a rapid tour, leaving just as they were closing and finally arriving back over 2 hours late.
The sites were well worth visiting but we were really badly treated by the tour company.
