What to expect
  • Skip the long lines and get right inside the Prado, Madrid’s most famous art museum, during this 90-minute guided tour covering its top highlights. This insider’s discovery of this top-notch cultural institution, limited to just 20 guests per group, is sure to give you a new perspective on Spain’s incredible art history. Start your visit at 3pm outside the Prado, where you’ll meet your guide for the day and receive your priority-access admission to the museum, allowing you to jump right past the crowds and head straight inside.  This incredible art museum is one of Spain’s, and Europe’s, finest, covering more than 9,000 paintings plus numerous sculptures, drawings and prints. Learn about the museum’s founding as you wander with your guide. Originally devised by King Charles III in the 18th century, the collections housed in this neo-classical building soon outgrew the space available, resulting two-further expansions. Follow your guide as you visit some of the museum’s top pieces in chronological order, beginning with a look at the work of Hieronymus Bosch including his The Garden of Earthly Delights and The Seven Deadly Sins. Proceed next on an exploration of the works of Spanish renaissance artist El Greco, whose output includes sculpture, architecture and painting. Learn about his unique style as evidenced in his work The Annunciation. Continue to view Las Meninas by Velazquez, considered by many to be one of the most iconic artworks in Western history. End your art tour with a look at The Family of Carlos IV by Francisco Goya, a work that includes an image of the artist himself — an unexpected decision at the time it was painted in the 19th century. End your Prado visit inside the museum, where you can continue your exploration at your leisure.

Great Time
I had an excellent time during this tour. I learned a lot about the Prado and the tour guide was amazing. (I can’t stress this enough she was fantastic) I know I annoyed my group mates and guide because I was extremely late (I didn’t really understand where the meeting point was). They were kind enough to wait and we got to experience and learn together.

Dear meisNj, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write your review. I regret to learn the inconveniences you faced during your visit and that the information on your voucher regarding the meeting point for the tour was misleading. In a more positive note I truly wish you enjoyed your stay in Madrid. Sincerely, Alex B.

May 2019
It was a good tour. the art work and everything in it was amazing. I am not super artsy so it didn't BLOW me away but it was good. I think a tour is great to learn things so that's why I did a tour. My grandma fell on the trip and lost her cane.. they wouldn't give her a wheel chair unless proof, only a cane which kinda helped her but I would have liked the museum to have stepped up on that which I understand why handing out wheelchairs is not ideal.....I think a tour is something you should always do, but i wouldn't get one again for this museum, unless it was 1 on 1.

Disappointing
Since we had done a skip the line tour before in Sevilla- we knew to find the meeting place prior to tour! It’s at the kiosk on street above the Prado entrance- look for Tour the City double decker buses! German was our guide- and while he spoke English- he has a very heavy accent & when added that to a very poor audio system- it was almost impossible to hear & understand him. He also did not give a good preface to his approach to the art tour - we moved through areas very quickly, discussed 1 or 2 pieces in each room, I was lost. Needless to say, myself & my group got very little out of the tour.
Wouldn’t recommend it.

Dear GoodXTC, Thank you for reviewing our Museo del Prado tour. I am sad to see you did not enjoy the tour, since it is designed for our customers to be able to know the most recognized works of the museum. Moreover, our guides always inform the customers they have the option to stay in the museum as long as they wish for them to be able to have a deeper look in everything they are interested in. Best regards, Alex B.

Not worth it
Oct 2019 • Couples
Group was too big and guide just did not have a passion for the topic. She never even told us her name. We wanted a shorter overview, but we feel we got nothing others then actual entry to the museum. We have had others museum tours that were much better.

Dear Oksana B, I truly regret the tour was not up to your expectations, although I must say that customers have the option to stay in the museum as long as they wish after the visit for them to have a complete overview and be able to explore the pieces they are interested in the most. Best regards, Alex B.

A fast efficient way to see the museum almost immediately on arrival. Highly recommend.
Aug 2019
Saved us queuing for ages. The queue for tickets was very long and we were able to us walk in. We had to go through security of course but were able to enjoy the art for a longer time.

Horrible experience
Sep 2019 • Friends
Horrible experience!!!! We arrived 40 minutes early fir the tour. Search for almost an hour and a half for the address. No one at the Prado could direct us to where we needed to go. I finally found the building. It is not clearly marked. It would be lovely if you could say it was through the black doors adjacent to number 21. Obviously we missed our tour. And by that time my family members who are slightly mobility challenged were too sore to even try to see the museum. As the guards directed us up the stairs down the stairs down the road back up the road.. Not only do we not get to see the Prado. We wasted the money on this tour.
I can’t tell you how disheartening and sad I am. This is the only opportunity we had to see the Prado. The only thing I can say is I salvage this day by doing a hop on hop off tour were at least my family could see the city.

Dear Susan M, Thank you for your feedback. I strongly regret the agency which whom you booked the tour did not inform you properly of the meeting point for the same. Nonetheless, I am glad to see you could enjoy Madrid City Tour to discover the main attractions of Madrid. Best regards, Alex B.

This short tour is both a good introduction to the collection and a quick peek at the best Spanish works of art. The guide spoke good English and had a pleasant manner.
