This tour was great . Even though we went at a less busy time of year, the skip the line access saved time. Our tour guide was knowledgeable. Our group was about 20 people. The only glitch was we didn't get the tower access. Another couple in our group had also purchased through Trip Advisor/Viator like us, and the tour company in Barcelona somehow didn't notice. We didn't learn this until the end of the tour and didn't want to go back and haggle at that time. I would still recommend the tour. The extra knowledge from a personal guide is always better, I think. the church's architecture is fascinating and well worth a visit.

No matter how many time you visit this sight, since it's a work in progress, it never disaapoints. I always see something new & learn something new. The tour is excellent & the staff on location is great! Took some friends who have never been to Sagrada Famila & they were amazed. I highly recommend taking this tour!

Guide was not very good, mumbled a lot and therefore was hard to understand. This was our second visit, so we knew what to look for and where; which was fortunate because the guide was not good. Some folk in our tour actually turned off their audio receivers, he was that bad.

I was mesmerized by the light filled architecture and future plans. Our tour guide I wish I remembered her name was so passionate, she drew me in immediately. Awesome day lots of walking, took the public train from our downtown location which was pretty easy even though we only spoke English. Everyone was just so helpful. The best full day!

Having reviewed the Basilica itself separately on TA, my focus here is on how Julia Travel preformed in delivering a guided tour of the number one place to visit when in Barcelona. We booked way in advance as certain tours sellout sooner. Chose the 9:00 am time as we had a cruise ship departure at 4:00 pm. The "official" booking site for the Sagrada Familia (Clorian), does not offer a "skip the line" option, but they do offer a guided tour. I highly recommend that you research this option, as most every tour company advertises such. It may be labeled as "skip the line," or "priority access," or "early entry". You will pay for this privilege. They place you in a queue with your guide and they let the group enter the security screening area, while those with the individual tickets wait to to be let in one by one at the "official" timed ticket window.
Julia Travel's website notes they have been in tourism for 84 years, and are part of Grupo Julia, So they are big time, not a fly by night, or new start up. If you book on TA they utilize Viator to book with them. I have previously used Viator to book many tours around the world as they have a stellar reputation, and the tour was in fact booked with Viator. A plus was the fact that the Julia Travel office were you get your tickets and meet your guide, is across the street from the Sagrada Familia. Tip number one is be early. If you are late, you run the risk of missing the tour. We took a taxi from our hotel and got there 40 minutes early. They still were not open yet, it was dark, and drizzly, but a few folks got some coffee at this nice little cafe on the corner.
The desk person opened the place, is was clean, comfortable, nice restrooms. We all got checked in and waited for our guide. I knew the towers would be an issue due to weather, so I asked, and she announced at this time the towers are open. There were two groups checking in, those for 9:00 am Fast track only, and those with 9:00 am Fast Track with Towers. Both were English Only. Other tours later in the day can be English and other,Spanish/ so note this when booking. Our guide showed, and took our group of about sixteen outside, and started describing the exterior as we walked to the entrance on the other side. Our guide spoke loud enough to hear, and her British accent was easy to understand.
Once thru security, Getting us out of the rain, she issued the audio receivers so we could hear her speaking into a headset. However one of the staff, also know as the gestapo, decided we were blocking an exit, (no body else anywhere). Out into the rain. She explained in passionate detail intricacies of the Nativity Facade (this is the part that is designated UNESCO, not the whole Basilica). Once inside, with the other few thousand priority, skip the line folks, we were given a great explanation of what Guadi was trying to achieve. The Passion Facade, then down to the museum and workshop. more interesting facts, Oh and the towers are closed so, have a nice day.
The good news,is that your can explore the place as long as you want afterward, but there is no reentry after you leave. Bummed that we could not get down to the Crypt (the other UNESCO part), and had to take photos through the upper windows. They have a seating areas in front of the High Altar. I entered and noticed a intricate design on floor at the center, so I took a picture and was promptly scolded by the gestapo on duty to sit down, in one of the chairs, OK I did. You will notice that none of the Sagrada Familia staff ever smiles ever. So avoid them. Not the fault of Julia Travel.
Back at Julia Travel office we inquired about a refund for the tower portion of our tour, and were told you must contact the booking agency, in our case Viator, to receive any refund, have a nice day. They, Viator, must investigate your claim. Getting the song and dance from them, so my advice is just avoid this issue altogether, and DO NOT book the towers thru TA or Viator. If you are really desire to go up the towers (nativity tower is the more preferred) you can book directly with Julia Travel. That way you should be able to get a refund if the towers are closed. Be informed their cancellation policy is 48 hrs, while if you book them thru Viator, it is only 24 hrs, why? Also, their pricing is in euros, so I'm thinking, unless you have a credit card that does not charge you for the conversion, you may need to factor that in pricing.
The wording on TA and Viator is different that Julia Travel for this tour. The Julia Travel Ticket states, Fast Track with Towers, TA, and Viator websites show it as Priorty access, with optional Tower Entry. Most of the negative reviews regarding this revolve around paying for the towers, then not getting to go up the towers due to weather, or mechanical issues with the lift, or the gestapo decides you are not fit to descend the stairs. Then having to jump through hoops for your refund. Viator are you listening? Does Julia Travel ultimately get paid for the Tower we did not get to visit? it is not a lot of money, it is about how you treat the customer. It would be helpful if the Julia Travel desk would issue a notice on your behalf to Viator, that the towers were closed that day, and you should be issued a refund and give you a copy. What say you, Edgar?

The tour guide was very informative and spoke great English. The Sagrada itself was AMAZING. It was so massively big and beautiful. The towers were very high which let us see the entire city. Very Pretty. However, I would not suggest anyone that has issues with claustrophobia or dizziness go up to the tower. It was very high and very small tight steps. I never have dizziness issues and got a little dizzy walking down the steps. No elevator access to go down either. They require you to take the stairs back down.

Sagrada Familia is of course one amazing piece of work. The tour guide Alex was very knowledgeable and he offered many details that we would not have known if we didn't take this tour. However...do not buy your tickets here through TripAdvisor and Viator. Buy directly from the travel company. The lift was closed for the day during our tour and we could not go up to the tower. The guide told us to request a refund from the company where the tickets were purchased. It's been over 2 weeks and I keep receiving updates from Viator that Julia Travel has not responded to confirm this with them. If didn't take 2 weeks for me to pay them so it should not take 2 weeks for them to confirm and approve my partial refund. Very unprofessional.

First of all we had to wait in the travel office for over 30 minutes for our guide to take us to La Sagrada and then another 30 minutes getting organized outside the cathedral. We would have been better off doing the audio guide and going at our own pace instead of waiting for 32 other people. Don’t book this one.

Dear Cssc14,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
I sincerely regret our tour did not live up to the expectations you had for the same. However, please note if you arrived at the Sagrada Familia way ahead of your tour you had to wait for the designated time to leave the premises as the rest of your group had not yet arrived. We operate with group entrance timed tickets we strictly have to respect and this is the reason you could not leave the office earlier.
As per the waiting time outside the monument, please note there are mandatory security controls held by the Basilica itself which are out of our control.
Best regards,
Alex B

Sagrada Familia is beyond Godlike regardless of Architectural, Interior or Structural. Our English Language tour guide is excellent and knowledgeable and he had made the visit more meaningful to tourist like us. Thank you (Sorry I forgot your name but should able to trace who is the tour guide for 12 July morning session). We had booked priority access with tower entry with elevator. Cool experience of walking down the spiral staircase although some might not like it but common when you travel you have to try something different! I would rate the tour and building at least 5 stars.

Gaudi, Gaudi, and Gaudi... plus beautiful historic neighborhoods in the downtown area. Barcelona seems to go out of its way to show that is separate from Spain. If you find any good food there outside of the bakeries, let us know.

What's the difference between the 2pm English only, 5pm English only and 9am English only?
I see price is higher for the 5pm & 9am but it doesn't explain the differences.

Definitely take anyone of the three offerings by Julia Tours. They will provide you with a quality tour that is led by a professional and highly educated guide. Also the crowds are insane. You need a tour company that will guarantee an efficient entrance into the complex.
As to the difference in price for the morning and late afternoon entrance fees, my previous research on the Sagrada Familia mentioned and highly recommended viewing it during the hours when the morning sun and/or setting sun would be in play.
My husband and I took the 9 a.m. tour and were extremely pleased. It was already getting crowded, but not as bad as the crowds were by the time our tour ended. As to the sun's part, you will definitely be in awe of the added effect that the sun plays when it comes to the massive windows along the sides of the cathedral. The windows designed by Gaudi were created with a specific purpose as was "every feature" in his magnificent church.
You are already spending money to go to Spain. Don't shortchange your experience of this remarkable cathedral just to save a few dollars. My husband and I have visited scores of famous cathedrals throughout Europe over the years. I can honestly say that we were blown away by the Sagrada Familia. Our experience there far exceeded our expectations-and my husband is an architect. My suggestion: Go on the 9 a.m. tour.
My three friends and I coming on Norwegian’s Epic cruise line out of Barcelona on November 10, 2019 - November 22 ,2019 We will be In Barcelona on November 08-10 we our cruise leaves. we are looking for a group to joining with for shore excursions to cut cost and maximize our experience in Spain . And other ports if possible

I'm 66 and my husband is 72. When you are walking down the 400 steps is there a handrail and is the height low. My husband is 6 foot tall. Will he have to bend over or watch his head as he goes down?

There is not a hand rail and it's pretty steep/tight. My husband is also 6 feet tall and had no problem with the ceiling height.
