At the Gran Canaria Banana Museum we will guide you through a tour of our banana farm and we will teach you everything about the cultivation of this fruit. You will visit a Canarian house dating from 1804 that has been fully restored, true to its original architecture. Inside is the interpretation center and a shop where you can taste a selection of artisan products made on our islands that contain bananas, such as different jams, banana jam and even Banana Wine, as well as cosmetic lines also made with bananas. .

We visited this place with family 02.02.2023 and had great experience as our guide was really big fan of this plantation/museum and it felt really like You are expected and welcome there.
Our guide has lost his heart to this place and he was able to speak about banana trees like his kids😊 he was able to make it interesting for our teens(14 and 12) same time our 4 year old was also entertained.
We n the end we got taste several products of banana(liquir, wine, pubble wina, several jams etc) and also we got tasted of red banana, wich was really something special!
Place itself is beautiful and really interesting, so I suggest to plan visit there.

It takes a lot to get 5* out of me but this activity was just about flawless. I’m so glad I went.

Our guide, Maria, was an encyclopaedia of knowledge, not just about bananas and farming them, but also about Gran Canaria’s history and the geo-political legacy of bananas. I never realised Canary Wharf was named after the Canary Islands that developed it.

This is less of a museum and more of a sanctuary. They are growing particularly rare and unusual bananas so you can see how they contrast with ‘normal’ ones. Maria explained the qualities of every variety and how they’re used in cooking.

It’s not wheelchair accessible but there are only a few moderate slopes up and down on the tour. The farm is 80,000sq/m but the varieties for the tour are all around the gift shop (a renovated house from 1804).

The tasting session at the end was great. There was zero pressure to buy anything. Maria put the food and drink out, said I want to see all this gone, and left us to it! The shop was gorgeous (note - it’s cash only, so bring some).

I recommend not getting the last tour of the day. After the tour and tasting, you’re invited to wander into the farm to go and explore for yourself, so it’s good to leave some time for that. Alternatively there are several terraces overlooking the farm and the sea, so you can sit there with a cold drink and ice cream to unwind.

I caught the 234 bus from Las Palmas there and back. It was less than 15min walk but with some moderate slopes and no footpaths on some corners of the road. I would suggest small children or anyone not good on their feet would be better on a coach tour that includes it or coming by car.

This attraction has only been open for about a year and taxi drivers still aren’t familiar with it. If you get a taxi, make sure you have the full address for them.

I love bananas so jumped at the chance to go here. I think we’re all increasingly vigilant about intensive industrial scale farming and the awful things done to our food. Here is a rare chance to see and learn about it ought to be done.

As a local living in Gran Canaria, I had the pleasure of visiting La Rekompensa Mundo del Plátano, and it was an incredible experience! Our guide, María, was fantastic. She explained everything in great detail, from the history of banana cultivation on the island to its cultural significance. María was also very approachable and open to all of our questions, making the tour both educational and enjoyable.

I highly recommend this tour to both locals and visitors alike—it's a wonderful way to learn more about Gran Canaria’s agricultural heritage!

Today we did a guided English tour through the plantage with guide Yasmina. She told an enthuastic story about the history of the banana and the connection with Gran canaria. Followed by a tour through the plantage and the different bananas breed and how they groe and are cultivated. Ended with a nice tasting of different banana product. Would certainly recommend and support the museo if you are in gran canaria

The location is about 10 minutes from Arucas and the bus service is a little irregular so we bussed it to Arucas and got a taxi ( about €7).
JC was our guide and gave a very entertaining talk, involving all the clients in his spiel. Then we had the opportunity to sample the banana products.
We learnt a lot about bananas so much so, that we plan to bombard our friends with the information for the rest of the year!
I rang the taxi company to return to Arucas but the operator claimed not to know where the museum was! I gave up and JC saved the day by ordering a taxi for us.
I can definitely recommend this guided tour.

In the middle of a 2 weeks cruise around the canary islands and I can honestly say this has been the highlight of the trip. Our guide, Steve, was funny, insightful and helpful! I'm guessing this is a relatively unknown tourist attraction, as the taxi driver didn't know where it was. This is a real shame as somewhere like this deserves loads of visitors to support what they're doing. So please, if you're reading this and are in or soon to be in Gran Canaria, pay them a visit...you will not be disappointed!

Great tour and lovely tour guide. Ismael was great at answering questions and giving a detailed explanation of each different type of banana. We really enjoyed learning about the history of it all and the different variety. The taste testing at the end was also amazing! Would recommend!

A young, innovative business trying to create something different.

The guided tour in your own language was very interesting. The samples to try were generous.

Banana products in the little shop are different and very reasonably priced. I love the hand cream and the banana jam.

Plenty of seating and excellent toilet facilities.
