Discover the final days of World War 2 on this half-day walking tour of Berlin. Learn all about the events leading up to Germany’s final surrender as you visit the city’s most significant historical sites with your knowledgeable guide. Learn about the Soviet attack as you follow the route toward the final battlefield for the Reichstag, see the site of Hitler's bunker, and discover from where the German Luftwaffe was coordinated. Hear how WW2 developed and how life was for the people at that time, especially those who opposed the regime, and discover how the cruelties came to an end in 1945.
Highlights
  • Match significant moments in history to the locations they took place in
  • Forget the guidebook and learn about the last days of the Third Reich from a guide
  • Visit memorials to those who fought against and defied the regime
  • Avoid aimless wandering and have the rest of the day free to explore other aspects of the city
What to Expect
Meet your guide near Zoologischer Garten train station, and together explore a route of key locations under the Third Reich and during the final Battle of Berlin, including the Luftwaffe headquarters and the Ministry of Propaganda. Follow the route of the final Soviet assault, eventually reaching the Reichstag itself. Next, stop at the Soviet War Memorial, before heading onto the headquarters of Hitler’s Nazi government, the New Reich Chancellery, to view Hitler’s bunker and learn more about the events leading up to his suicide in April 1945. Listen as your professional guide shares insights into daily life under Nazi rule and discuss the events that caused Hitler’s unique rise to absolute power, including the Lebensraum policy, and find yourself immersed in the dramatic events that led to end of the Third Reich. Conclude your tour at the Topography of Terror near Potsdamer Platz, and leave with a thorough appreciation of the events that culminated in the Nazi surrender, and the locations that shaped them.

I think number of participants for the tour depends from the day, season, if you are lucky it can be a few or 17-18. They are divided by language. It was well organized. Regards/ PG
