  • Stroll by top attractions including Notre Dame Cathedral
  • Hear stories about King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
What to expect
  • In the late 18th century, Paris was the stage where most of the bloody events of the French Revolution played out, forever altering the course of European history. Layered beneath the bustle and romance of modern-day Paris, traces of the tumultuous events can still be found. Your revolutionary walking tour begins near Les Invalides, where you meet your historian guide in the afternoon. Learn how 30,000 weapons were stolen here by protesters and used to overtake the Bastille. Visit the Place de la Bastille, site of the former prison, and listen as your guide recounts the dramatic storming that officially ignited the revolution in 1789. See where the Tuileries Palace once stood and hear how revolutionaries used its once-royal chambers as headquarters for a fledgling new government. Pass by the imposing Conciergerie, a former prison where Marie Antoinette was held captive after the fall of the monarchy, and stroll through the Place de la Concorde, where she and husband King Louis XVI were both beheaded. Imagine the gruesome scene here as your guide recounts the many lives lost to the guillotine during the bloody years of the Reign of Terror. When your tour concludes near Notre Dame, depart with a newfound appreciation of the bravery, tyranny and chaos of the Revolution and how it shaped the Paris you see today.

Our guide, Jerome made this day perfect.
Sep 2019
It was only a 2-3 hour tour but Jerome took us a our own pace and made every site more interesting that ever before. He explained the history of the Eiffel Tower and other buildings, like pointing out and explaining the bullet holes in the building where the French held out during invasion by the Germans. Little things he explained made the tour SO worth it.

Oscar was great!
Oct 2019
We were a small group, six in total, which made it very nice...we all got aquatinted, and Oscar shared some of his personal history. He was informed, humorous, and very clear in his presentation...the tour was interesting, and we will never forget the three Louie’s...the son, the fun and the done! We enjoyed our time with Oscar!

This wasn't great
Aug 2019
The guide seemed very nice, but unfortunately this wasn't a good tour. The places we walked to didn't really match up with what was being talked about - it was just someone taking us around well-known areas like Place de la Concorde and reciting what seemed like a half-remembered French revolution wikipedia page, in an extremely unengaging and monotonous way.

Follow-up questions didn't get interesting answers, and the guide unpredictably swang between assuming the people on the tour knew everything already, to explaining extremely basic and boring details, to just completely missing out parts of the narrative. Anyone who went into the tour not sure what happened would probably be none the wiser at the end.

Considering it wasn't cheap it should have been a lot better. Judging by some of the other reviews here some of the guides are better than the one we got, so take your chances, I suppose.

TOTAL SNOOZEFEST!
We have had many guided tours and this one was the worst tour ever. First of all the guide did not have proper English to do this job. She have a very monotonous voice that was very hard to follow. It was like a child telling a story all broken up. Secondly this was not a tour! This was a like a boring class that you had to do tons of walking not to anywhere in particular. Just walking and stopping for more lecture. No sites except the Borboun Palace was visited. Please do yourself a favor and skip this one! I regret spending the time I am not even worried about the money. Waste of time!!!

Very informative tour with great tour guide
Had a wonderful time walking the streets of Paris, and learning about the history of the French Revolution. Our tour guide, Oscar, was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly, patient. Also caring... he stopped in a hotel to get a pair of slippers for one of the group members that wore high heeled shoes. He made history come alive, and is the reason I am giving this tour 5 stars.

This could have been fabulous- bad guide
For €320 I expected much more. Our guide gave us a marked up book, couldn’t remember many of the dates and had to keep borrowing the book to look for them. She was incredibly soft spoken and hard to hear, and not dynamic in anyway. I thought this would be the highlight of our trip based on the reviews, so a word of warning-make sure you don’t get Christina as a guide. She was a nice lady, but not suited to this type of activity at all-almost no personality. I am tempted to ask for a partial refund.

Great Tour with Amazing Tour Guide- Richard from Cambridge
Jun 2019 • Couples
This was an amazing tour. We learned so much but also saw so much. Richard, our Tour Guide; was top notch. Well informed, personable and extremely patient. I loved that he planned out our route so we maximized the shade during the heat wave. This was a huge help.

Seriously take this tour. You see many of the main sites you want to see in Paris: The Louvre, National Assembly, The Seine river, etc. You don't have to know everything about the French Revolution but some knowledge would help. Richard is great about filling you in and has a great sense of humor.

At first, I was a little daunted about meeting in a park by a metro. But once studying the meeting instructions & looking it up on Google Earth, it was a piece of cake. The tour guide Danielle was very knowledgeable, entertaining & easy to understand. It was very hot & Danielle made sure we stopped in shady areas when she paused to tell us stories. There is a lot of walking on cobble roads & dirt, so wear comfy shoes. History really comes to life on this tour! You would never know the stories of these places if you just walked on your own. I would definitely recommend Fat Tire Tours for walking tours in Paris!
