Stop at another château where you’ll tour the vineyards and enjoy a wine workshop where you’ll learn how to hone your palate for wine. Medoc wine tour: Once you’ve boarded your air-conditioned minivan you’ll travel from Bordeaux to Medoc on the region’s Castle Road, past scenic châteaux such as Mouton-Rothschild, Latour, and Margaux—stopping for photos. You may visit Cantenac-Brown, Paloumey, Siran, or Lagrange, all classified growth châteaux, known for their wines. You’ll follow your guide or winemaker through the vineyard and cellar, and taste vintages made on site, accompanied by French bread, cheese, and cured meat. Move on to the second stop, a family-run estate, where you’ll ample wines and attend a wine-tasting workshop. Learn about how to properly taste wine and expand your knowledge and wine appreciation. No matter where you tour, you can relax on the drive back to Bordeaux and take your wine knowledge with you as you continue to explore the region’s wines on your own.

We joined the Ala Francaise Medoc tour and wine tasting to Chateau Desmiral and Chateau Lamothe-Bergeron . The tour provides a good introduction overview of the Bordeaux Medoc Region and recommended for a first time visitor to the region. Remy was our host and guided us throughout the afternoon. We left downtown Bordeaux at 145pm and was safely back in at 715pm. While these are not your big weighted Chateaus, it was good to hear from wine makers the wine making process and the unique nature of the Bordeaux classification and varietals grown in the region. A big learning for me was that Rose wine is made from the Red wine making process; and the Rose from Chateau Desmiral was a pleasant surprise wine with crisp and refreshing first wine we tasted. Remy took us a short instagram stop at Chateau Margaux which made the trip more enjoyable. His knowledge of Bordeaux made for a great enjoyable outing.

I am so sad we were not able to get to the tour in time. I was actually surprised that they were willing to let us arrive 10 min behind schedule. I am upset that our hotel did not guide us in the right direction as far as getting to the location we were supposed to meet. We asked for a taxi and was told it would arrive in ten minutes. We had plenty of time to get there (45 minutes). Our taxi unfortunately, did not arrive for 30 minutes— completely not acceptable on the hotel or taxis part. We wished we could have at least met the group by train. We literally missed them by 2 minutes. We only stopped here on our way to Paris for this tour. :( so- my advice (this has happened once before in Paris with the hotel ordering a taxi and the taxi does not show up en route to the airport!) is to walk 33 minutes over paying for transportation to the starting location. In general, this has been a consistent type of experience in France - which makes it my least favorite to visit!!! But, this tour group is highly rated and we are only upset because we were not able to get there for it. So— don’t listen to your expensive hotel- don’t rely on taxis or concierge. Use the bus or train or walk!! But get there.

We had an excellent, enthusiastic guide who took us to Chateau De La Dauphine, in Fronsac, then to the village of Saint Emilion and finally to Chateau Cote de Baleau. Carole was very knowledgeable , spoke fluent English and ensured that we saw beautiful places, learnt lots about the wine making process, and sampled delicious wines too. Thank you so much.

We had a lovely afternoon but it wasn’t quite what we were hoping for or expecting considering we paid £168 for 2 people. The tour needs to be renamed Chateaux and St Emilion tour NOT wine tasting. We visited the first Chateaux which was beautiful and interesting learning about the process of how the wine is made. At the end your ‘tasting’ is of 2 wines with very small amounts in each (I’m talking two small sips). You are then taken to a beautiful old town and the knowledge our tour guide had on the history was really good and it was nice to see. It would of been nice to stop at this point for something to eat as everyone was saying how hungry and thirsty they were. After walking around for an hour we went to the other Chateaux but unfortunately everyone experienced the same educational details as the first Chateaux. Rushed through the whole tour we just wanted to sit and have an actual wine tasting and enjoy the view. Instead our 3 wine tastings again a mouthful were poured in the same glass (all very rushed). Our guide brought out a plate of cheese, meat and chocolate which everyone awkwardly ate as we stood around and enjoyed the view with well no wine. If you had the option to at least purchase a glass of wine at the end that would of been better. Basically if you want less than a glass of wine over 5 hours and want just the education process of wine making this is the tour for you. If you want to taste wine I do not recommend this tour for you.

It was not significant to know too much about the chateau's history but talk too little about the wine differentiation and how to taste the wine. Maybe the workshop just didn't meet our expectations It may be useful for others.
The 2nd chateau at Saint-emilion was too casual and not much knowledge to learn about. We played a game to smell the aroma then guess the spice and fruit of it, then followed by a quick visit to the winery to see the grapes, then we headed to the city to see the cathedral. Overall it was just relaxing and not much learning. So it depends on your needs and what you are looking for to get from this tour.

The tour was a good length. It was at 1:45 pm so I could explore Bordeaux in the morning. It left from a very central location. It was on time. It was not a too long drive. The tour guide was knowledgeable. It was professional and safe. Only 6 guests. The châteaux that we visited were in Medoc. They were small to medium size. The visits were excellent, the right amount of time, and an emphasis was placed on tasting the wines. I really could not ask for a better tour. My wine knowledge is moderate.

This was an excellent tour, hosted by a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide, the two wineries we visited both had great tours and again shared knowledge and wine tastings. The small number in the group allowed us to see more and learn more. The village of St Emillion was just stunning and tour guide’s timing of arrival meant we got some amazing photos of the village and of the sun setting, Great tour and great tour guide, I would highly recommend this tour

This was disappointing. Three of us sat in the back of a van that had no shocks and we were bounced around the entire trip. The tour guide/driver had no microphone,
so we could not hear anything she was saying! She said she was sorry and to ask her any question we had. How do you ask a question when you haven't heard the story????? Fortunately, the two chateaux had decent guides who could answer questions about the wine making process.I would not recommend this company.

The guide was very nice and introduced the history and general knowledge of the wine production in Bordeaux throughout the trip. I really enjoyed the small-group tour. Unfortunately, it was in the winter and it was rainy so we cant see the grapes and field very clearly. Highly recommend this tour and it would be lovely to go again during the summer!

Alice was a brilliant tour for our trip to St Emillion. The trip included visits to two chateaux, a workshop on tasting and a visit to the town itself. We got so much more though - fascinating information about the history, culture and geography of the area with a friendly and knowledgeable host for our group of 8.
I should add that since the temperature was at 40 degrees plus, the comfortable air conditioned vehicle was very welcome!
