- irishview20160 contributionsGreat Surprise - really worth a visit.Did not know what to expect but greatly surprised. Extraordinary original building - to a degree very rare in Ireland. Excellent guide brought to life the fantastic ceilings, furniture, and ambience now gone. Loved its authenticity and the amount of original artifacts. Cafe was also high quality - a really solid destination if looking for a one day trip to a Dublin or enjoying a couples tour of Wicklow.Written 12 October 2024

- shelly-ann0 contributionsAbsolutely fantastic place to visit! We stayed in Tulfarris Hotel and asked the receptionist if there was anywhere she would recommend for us to visit, and she suggested Russborough House. We had never heard of it. When we arrived, it was 4 euros to park, which could be paid by bank card or coins. Jack was most welcoming on reception, and we paid 29.50 euros for my husband and I to do the tour. The tour was starting at 1 pm and lasted 45 mins. The tour starts on the hour. We went into the cafe, which had a great selection for a coffee before the tour. The ladies' toilets were clean. Tara did our tour, and we were blown away by her knowledge and the beauty and history of each room in the house. I enjoyed every minute of the tour. Even though we had been to Powerscourt Gardens and the waterfall this week and even though they were beautiful, there is something special about Russborough House. It was a most enjoyable day and worth every penny. We didn't leave enough time to walk around the lake but the scenery was lovely.Written 6 August 2024
- ginarO1948VL0 contributionsVery Full and Memorable Day!Lovely estate with so much art! Wow! A big thank you to Colin who was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide. Ollie was also a terrific guide -- a personable and passionate "birdman" who made our owl experience both fun and educational (we miss our fave bird Brian terribly!) Lunch was delicious and the maze was a-mazing. Very full and memorable day. Thank you!Written 31 July 2024
- Terence H0 contributionsWhat a wonderful experienceThis is really worthwhile. The guided tour of the house is really excellent. Each room is furnished as it was in its original splendour. The paintings and tapestry are nearly priceless and the tour guide provides all the information on might seek about each piece.Written 14 June 2024
- carbreen0 contributionsNot to be missed tour!We arrived and didn't have enough time to wait for the next tour- so the lady gave us a quick private tour around the house rapid- style! We got so much information about the house and the owners it was amazing! The tour guide was a fountain of knowledge and so interesting. The house is wonderful, and the shop in the basement is beautifully curated. We had just enough time for coffee and homemade cake in the cafe, which was delicious and such good value. We would definately come back and spend more time here, such a wonderful place to visit!Written 23 May 2024
- ainej200 contributionsFabulous visitI did a tour of the fabulous house with a wonderful guide George followed by a lovely lunch in the cafe and a sunny walk in the beautiful gardens.Written 14 April 2024
- furl0ngj0 contributionsPay €4 for parking only to be told exhibition and house is closed until FebruaryPaid €4 for parking and only then was told house and exhibition are not open until February. Found this penny pinching quite annoying. Nothing to suggest of this closure until you walk into the reception. If you want to go for a walk park in the carpark opposite the entrance to Russborough House, it's free.Written 18 January 2024
- AineEYB0 contributionsLight airy cafe. The cafe is a pleasant enough place to eat, with a varied menu. Went with number of family members, two vegans and two vegetarian, the rest meat eaters. Whilst they did a vegan wrap which was to come with a choice of 3 salads, only the green salad was non dairy. Upon being advised the couscous salad was vegan my daughter asked what was the “ white pieces” when it was put on the plate - the reply was Feta - the server didn’t seem to understand that vegans didn’t eat dairy cheese! There is a good selection of cakes/deserts, but whilst gluten free cake and no moo brownies are available for people with intolerances, they are not vegan. Think the staff could be made aware of the what the various dietary requirements of customers may be. The food that the rest of us had was fine, and there is a good choice of hot or cold drinks and snacks..Written 5 December 2023
- blacdun0 contributionsA relaxing and varied experienceRussborough is a treat for the senses. The house itself is an architectural gem with an amazing art collection mainly gathered and restored by the Beit family who were the last people to live there. We are so lucky that they bequeathed it to the state and it is now ruin by a trust. I had a wonderful guided tour with a very knowledgeable guide. There is also an interesting shop with an eclectic mix of items. A cafe is well run and also has an outdoor Area. There is lots to do outside too. A beech maze to get lost in, a walled garden to explore and many walking areas.Written 22 November 2023
- sarahlC2993PI0 contributionsReal life Jane Austen/Bridgerton experienceWe very much enjoyed our visit to Russborough House. It is like stepping into a Jane Austen novel or being on the set of Bridgerton! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable — she knew the history of every piece of art and furniture in the rooms she took us through, and shared many interesting stories about the families who lived in the house. The grounds are beautiful and there is a nice cafe and shop. Definitely worth the drive to Wicklow.Written 5 September 2023
- Margo370 contributionsA good experienceThis was a grand spot to finish off our tour of the house. There were lots of tables and you ordered your food and paid for it - as I ordered the toasted cheese sandwich which came with greens and a little pot of chutney, I had to wait a few minutes for it to be toasted while I paid. Jugs of water and cutlery on a nearby table and staff collected and cleaned tables after you finished. Toilets were nearby and very clean. The staff on the counters were very busy and helpful. There was a good collection of hot and cold dishes, I would recommend the toasted cheese @ €10.50. You could have it with ham for €2 more!Written 28 August 2023
- james_sIreland0 contributionsOutstanding visitWe had family over on vacation from Canada 🇨🇦 and it was raining all morning so we just decided last minute to go to Russborough House. We were not disappointed as we took the last house tour of the day.Our guide was outstanding and her level of in-depth knowledge of the House, the families that had lived there and the contents of all the rooms was amazing. We will return to do the various walks etc available but highly recommend a visitWritten 27 August 2023
- DublinGrainne0 contributionsA wonderful way to spend a day.Fantastic visit to Russborough House and Park, and a wonderful guided tour with Yvonne. The history of the house, its occupants and owners was told in such an interesting way we were captivated and the hour absolutely flew! The coffee shop served delicious food in ambient surroundings and the gift shop and downstairs exhibition held our attention too. Definitely will make a return visit someday. Thank you to the Foundation for making Russborough so accessible.Written 1 August 2023

The 1-hour guided tour of the house with George was absolutely lovely ! The house itself is so well preserved, with respect for its history. Every piece of furniture or painting has a story, and George is a gifted speaker who shares his passion through this tour.
Don't hesitate to book, it is 12€ more than well spent !

This was one of the best tours I’ve enjoyed. The Georgian house is amazing and the grounds are lovely and green. Our guide, Judy, was knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. We were taken through all the main downstairs rooms and 4 of the 9 upstairs bedrooms. The furnishings, furniture, antiques, and artwork are superb. It was fantastic to have such an intimate insight into a bygone era. The ceilings are an artwork in themselves.
The cafe was good - large and airy with good coffee and cake. The shop has a wide variety of quality goods - consumables, Knick knacks, etc. I would highly recommend an outing to Rossborough.
