This is a fascinating museum on the history of Waterford since 900AD
A great museum giving a great overview of how Waterford developed since 900AD. It is very well laid out with a stack of fascinating information and artefacts on display. We were totally enthralled. We bought the Freedom Pass that got us a 45 min guided tour of the Viking Quarter (brilliant guiding by Jamie), entrance to Medieval Museum, Bishop’s Palace and Irish Silver Museum all for €20 each - amazing value

    A revelation in Waterford
We thought we knew Waterford City but the Waterford Treasures tours and a visit to the Wake Museum were a revelation. This was history, education and great fun in a remarkable setting of the Viking Triangle. The guides were superb. Highly recommended.

    Interesting Museum
As we were in Waterford for several days, we bought a combined ticket for this museum and others in the town. It was an interesting museum with a good deal of information about the long history of Waterford from the Viking period through to the Middle Ages. There were also mediaeval statues and vestments on display. Definitely worth a visit.

    A wonderful Museum visit
This is a stunning Museum with the information brilliantly and beautifully presented. If we were made welcome by the staff how much more so will the citizens of Waterford be made to feel when they enter the Museum and learn of Waterfords history. By chance we met the acting curator who showed us the Square Badge depicting the sign of John crucified by the Jews at P which led to a conversation about the Jewish community in Waterford.

Waterford triangle. The museums were wonderful. The virtual King of thé Viking s was incredible. Well worth the visit
Visiting the Waterford triangle museums and walking through the square around the Cathedral was so peaceful. Have enjoyed wandering through the pedestrian streets is great. So much history in this area.

    amazing gold cope
there were many amazing exhibits in this museum with plenty of information, the most notable being the medieval cloth of gold. Helpful guides if you need them and lifts to take you to each floor. The museum is well laid out, the display of copes through the ages is stunning , culminating in the Cloth of gold which was hidden for over a century. Worthwhile listening to some of the videos is different 'theatres' at different stages to learn more information. We bought a freedom ticket from the Bishops palace which was good value to see 4 museums.

We bought the ‘special’ ticket for 20 Euros each which gave us access to four museums. Unless you are a keen historian of English culture, to me it was a big so what. That being said, the museum is well done, though limited in its offerings. Not sure why it gets five star rating - hardly took any pictures

    Interesting museums in Waterford
This was one of our stops on our road trip around Ireland. We are museum people (and not crystal people), so we opted for this over the crystal factory. The museums are interesting, and well done. We were easily able to do Time, Silver and Medieval in an afternoon without feeling overwhelmed. Good for all ages, especially the Medieval museum.

Fascinating displays in a wonderful building
We bought the €15 ticket for all Triangle activities. What fantastic value. The museum was a fascinating and well presented tour through medieval Waterford. History, artefacts, Mayors and more. The building itself is fabulous from the spooky stone basement to the gracious staircase to the beautiful upstairs rooms. Star of the show are the gold vestments with the most incredible backstory. Make sure and watch the video....

    Viking Exhibitions
The Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum is conveniently located within the Viking Triangle. It took us about an hour to visit the museum. Anyone interested in Vikings should visit this museum. I thoroughly enjoy Viking history.

We had a lovely time on our staycation on this tour. I didn’t catch the tour guides name but he was really informative, witty and entertaining and everyone on the tour enjoyed themselves. The priest robes are amazing, well worth a visit. Fantastic to be able to discover some museums and galleries within Ireland, places like this have made me really appreciate what we have here.

No need to worry about lines and DO purchase the Freedom Pass ticket which gives you admission to most of the museums in the Medieval Triangle. It’s only a few Euros more than the single ticket price and you get to see all the important places. All of the staff are welcoming and wonderful. We were there on a Sunday, so basically had few other tourists and could take our time. We also were glad we went to the Bishop’s Palace which is not at all what we thought it would be. We had a wonderful re-enactor perform as the housekeeper to guide us on our tour. So much richer to experience the house this way! I loved the Silver Museum and my husband and I both enjoyed the Time Museum. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

Really informative, interesting and funny tour explaining the history of Ireland's oldest city. The tour guide was amazing, incredibly witty with lots of interesting facts and really great knowledge. The ornamental vestments were a highlight and one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city or even someone wanting to do a but of tourism in their own city!

Good afternoon gillyflower83 Thank you for coming to see the award winning Medieval Museum, we really appreciate you taking the time to come and visit and for leaving us such a wonderful review. The guided tour is definitely the best way to see and hear all about the medieval period here in Ireland's oldest city, Waterford. All of our guides, love the interaction with our guests and they have so many stories and tales to tell which help develop the medieval story with all of the artefacts and exhibits here in the museum. Thank you for giving us five stars and for the 'Highly recommended' tag in your review, we really appreciate it. We'd love to see you again! I bought a skip the line ticket from Trip Advisor. I’m so glad I did. I was late getting to the Museum and they were closing in 45 minutes but the staff were so kind to let me go through the Medieval Museum (this was the only one I wanted to see). It was so worth it! So much information and ancient artifacts perfectly displayed. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit and managed to get through it all in an hour! Highly recommend this museum whether you have an hour or 3 hours to spare!

A well laid out space, where you’re not overwhelmed with museum fatigue. Tells the history and the story of medieval Waterford fantastically. It only had one bathroom (literally 1) so beware of this if you are uncomfortable with. Also, the app they tell you to download and you can scan objects or little pictures on the walls totally did not work for us. Spent most of the visit frustrated with it, but there is loads of interpretation around so you don’t feel lost. A true gem, would recommend.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. He conveyed passion for the local history. He brought up challenging topics from history and shared how the population changed over time to be more accepting and supportive of people from other views and affiliations. He inspired us as he informed us!

We visited the medieval museum while we were in Waterford for the weekend. The museum was fantastic, there was so much to see and so much we didn’t know about Waterford. From the underground cellars, to the City walls to Vikings and Kings, From Wine importation to flint formation and ancient tapestry, cloaks and clothing. It was a fantastic day, that we will remember. Thanks

This was a lovely medieval museum with some very well-preserved artefacts, paintings, and garments. We were lucky to have a free guided tour, which was quite informative. However, our tour guide was a bit excessive, going off on a tangent in far too many instances. The 15th-century wine vault was impressive to see!
